On December 7, 1951, after the Chongqing-Neijiang section of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway was opened, Longchang Station was put into operation immediately and began to inject vigorous power into urban development. Before the train was opened, the Yida coal mine in Longchang was in a downturn and almost all workers were dismissed from the factory. The train is entering Longchang, with convenient transportation and coal mine production is booming. Less than three months after the train was opened, Longchang opened a factory for producing carbon black along the railway.
On July 1, 1952, after the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway was opened to traffic, the production and sales areas of the goods were more closely linked. Coal from Longchang and other places began to be transported in large quantities to Chengdu and Chongqing. In Chengdu, coal prices have been reduced by 30%, and ordinary families can afford coal as fuel. At that time, the electric light companies in Chengdu also reduced production costs, and the reduction of electricity prices promoted the prosperity of Chengdu's industry.
On November 16, 1953, a photo of a large amount of flour loading at Longchang Station was published on the first page of " People's Daily ". The picture said, "This year, the wheat production in Sichuan Province increased by 20%, and a large number of flour were exported to various places." On the third anniversary of the opening of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway, a reporter from the People's Daily came to Longchang again, "I saw many newly built factories."
With the development of the economy, the role of Longchang Station in the entire southern Sichuan region has become more prominent.
Zou Yong, an old employee of Longchang Station who has more than 30 years of service, recalled that in the 1990s, almost all the livelihood supplies needed by citizens in southern Sichuan and the raw materials needed for industrial production had to be transported through Longchang Station.

With the rise of other modes of transportation and the smooth flow of more traffic channels, Longchang Station is not as busy as before.
Since promoting the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle , Longchang Station has shouldered the mission of helping urban development. Neijiang has developed rapidly in recent years, and some of the construction materials required for urban construction are transported through Longchang Station. "According to statistics, building materials, stone slag and other goods account for a relatively high proportion of the goods transported in recent years." Song Bin, the station manager, founded a record book of freight structures for reporters in recent years, saying that the structure of freight products shows that the demand for logistics in urban construction is increasing.

In the future, the node role of Longchang Station may be more prominent. On June 9, the No. 10 pier of the Luzhou Tuojiang Railway Super Bridge of Longhuang Railway (Longchang to Xuyong Section) was completed, marking the next stage of the construction of the main pier of the bridge.
Longchang Station in Neijiang is the starting point of the Longhuang Railway. After the full line of the Longhuang Railway is completed, from Chengdu to Neijiang to Guangxi, a new route will be formed from Western Land-Sea New Channel Western Channel, becoming the most convenient major railway freight channel for sea to go south to Sichuan to Beibu Gulf Economic Zone.
