EVA Air Labor-management negotiations broke down ("Central News Agency")

According to Taiwan's " China Times Electronic News ", Taiwan EVA Air Flight Service Employees Union announced that it will start a strike from 4 pm yesterday (20th). The "Tourism Bureau" stated that it has activated a response mechanism with the "Ministry of Transportation" and the "Civil Aviation Administration". Since the strike is not attributable to both the travel agency and the passenger, the traveler may terminate the contract and shall not be liable for damages. The travel industry must refund the remaining amount deducted from the necessary fees to the passenger.

According to reports, in order to protect the rights and interests of tourists participating in the group, the Tourism Bureau has agreed with the Consumer Protection Department of the Executive Yuan, the Travel Association's League and the Quality Insurance Association to terminate the contract and refund regulations for passengers participating in the group, and made the above explanation in accordance with Article 14 of the Standardized Contract for Off-island Tourism, and pointed out that if passengers want to postpone their itinerary or transfer their group, they can negotiate a travel agency to handle the matter first.

"Tourism Bureau" pointed out that the Taiwan Federation of the Travel Industry has been requested to fully assist the group travel agencies to properly arrange passengers to transfer other flights or group transfers during the EVA strike. At the same time, EVA Airlines is also urged to assist travel agencies and passengers to reduce the impact.

"Tourism Bureau" stated that it will continue to grasp the development of the strike incident, and maintain close contact with the "Civil Aviation Administration" and the Travel Association, the Quality Insurance Association and major travel agencies, to ensure that relevant situations are grasped, and to assist the travel industry in real time to handle various response cooperation actions to safeguard the rights and interests of tourists.
