Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology began in 2003 and was absorbed into medium- and long-term scientific and technological planning in 2006 and was listed as a cutting-edge field. I think that from the perspective of cost balance, hydrogen fuel cells need to ride more than 500 kilometers, and commercial vehicles have more advantages over 200 kilometers. Lithium-ion batteries are more suitable for replacing gasoline engines, while hydrogen fuel cell power systems are more suitable for long-distance large-scale heavy-load transportation vehicles. In terms of application areas, especially as the breakthrough point for hydrogen fuel cells to enter the market, it is mainly in heavy trucks, logistics, and buses. In terms of regions, it will have more advantages. We chose Zhangjiakou to establish the Zhangjiakou Hydrogen Energy and Renewable Energy Research Institute. There are three reasons for our important hydrogen fuel cell research and development application base. The first is the colder place, the second is the heavy-duty vehicle model, and the third is the region that is closer to renewable energy. This is the breakthrough point for the market application of hydrogen fuel cells to be the first to make breakthroughs.At present, the Zhangjiakou renewable energy demonstration zone is undergoing industrial transformation of hydrogen fuel cell technology. Zhangjiakou has an engine factory and a wind power hydrogen production factory. It is cooperating with Toyota for the 2022 Winter Olympics to develop 2,000 large hydrogen fuel cell buses.

Currently, hydrogen fuel cells still face some challenges. The main challenge is not the vehicle, but the production, supply, storage and transportation of hydrogen energy, on-vehicle storage, and hydrogen refueling station , which is the main bottleneck in development. The promotion and application of hydrogen fuel cell technology needs to be gradually made. The technical roadmap of China's hydrogen fuel cell vehicle , which was presided over by me, is roughly divided into three steps. One of the key nodes is the 2022 Winter Olympics. The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will promote the development of China's fuel cell vehicles in a milestone, just like the 2008 Beijing Olympics to promote pure electric vehicles. Therefore, this is an important node in the development of fuel cell vehicles with a milestone. As long as this important node is done well, it will be conducive to the promotion and application of later industrialization. At present, we are actively coordinating the supply of hydrogen fuel. During the 2022 Winter Olympics, the hydrogen refueling volume needs to reach at least 20 tons per day, and at most 80 tons, and at least 20 hydrogen refueling stations need to be built. I hope that the entrepreneurs here can participate in the construction of hydrogen refueling stations, truly fight the preparations for the Winter Olympics well, truly implement the concept of "green Olympics", and make the 2022 Winter Olympics a "wonderful, extraordinary, and outstanding" Olympic event.
