According to Taiwan media reports, less than 100 days from the end of the year, Taipei mayoral candidate Su Huanzhi posted a message on Facebook that recently, China Television, Public Television, MinTV, TVBS and Sanli have submitted a letter of intent to the Kuomintang Taipei Mayoral candidate Jiang Wanan, non-party Taipei Mayoral candidate Huang Shanshan and Democratic Progressive Party Taipei Mayoral candidate Chen Shizhong, and invited public TV debate. Currently, there are 12 registered Taipei mayor candidates, but only 3 of them are invited. This behavior not only deliberately bans the right to speak of other candidates, but also seriously hinders the citizens' right to know. As the competent authority, the Communications Commission (NCC) must come forward to correct the media's deliberate ban and all candidates should be invited to participate in the debate.
Su Huanzhi said that ensuring the fairness of the election process is not just the responsibility of the Election Commission, but the NCC, as the media authority, has the same responsibility. The fairness of election reports, the media exposure of candidates, etc. are all part of election fairness. The NCC should ensure that every candidate has fair media access, and also allow the public to fully understand the candidate's political views and policies through the media and truly select candidates who they like, so that diverse democracy can be truly implemented.
Su Huanzhi pointed out that in response to media invitations to debate, deliberately ignoring other candidates. This kind of ignoring non-big party candidates will only make the big party spread the media Evergrande , and other voices cannot be presented at all. This not only prevents the public from obtaining complete information, but also seriously harms to plural democracy. The NCC is responsible for the reports of various media banning other candidates and should be dealt with.
