Therefore, panel manufacturers have also fallen into the most difficult situation. Since this year, the prices of panels (mainly LCD screens) have fallen across the board, and the prices of panels of many specifications have hit new lows in 10 years. Some panel prices are already below the cost line, and they are selling more and more. Panel manufacturers in the industry generally face huge operating pressure.
Judging from the revenue of some panel manufacturers in the first half of the year, the performance of panel manufacturers in mainland China, Taiwan and South Korea has declined across the board, and only BOE , Tianma, Longteng, etc. is still making profits, and most of them have entered a loss state in the second quarter.
Not only that, according to the current trend, panel prices are afraid that there is still room for decline, which shows that the challenges faced by panel manufacturers are unprecedented.
Currently, there are some production lines planned by some manufacturers, most of which are that have been delayed in construction or even still in the womb. After all, the price has fallen to this point, and the supply is already oversupply. If you build a production line again, you may fall even harder.
Of course, the one who was most injured must be domestic panel manufacturers. After all, domestic screen manufacturers account for more than half of the world's share in the global LCD market. Samsung and LG have long stated that they will withdraw from the LCD screen market and switch to OLED, MiniLED, and MicroLED.
So how do domestic screen manufacturers save themselves next? In my opinion, it mainly comes from the following two aspects.
The first path is naturally to change lanes to survive. In fact, LCD screens have always been considered to be eliminated. Therefore, instead of passively reducing production, the panel factory should survive and transform, find another way, switch to other tracks, like Samsung, switch to OLED, MicroLED and other products, and transform into a growth enterprise.
The second path is to reach the high-end. The panels that currently fall below the cost price are more low-end products with low thresholds or some small-size panels, while high-end products still have certain profit margins.
Instead of in the low-end market, everyone is fighting for food and finally no food, it is better for to drive product upgrades through technology upgrades, drive update demand through product upgrades, increase the proportion of high-end products in the production line, and seek value growth.
Next, it depends on how domestic panel manufacturers look for new opportunities in this super downward trend and achieve self-rescue.
