According to reports, Li Shenming, PhD, in the Department of Statistics, Fengjia University, pointed out that the school's statistical marketing research team conducted a survey on Fengjia business district for 11 years and found that the number of people who consumed in the business district every year has remained at around 12 million since 2008. In 2015, the number of people entering the business district reached 13.28 million, the largest number on record, and then it continued to show a downward trend.
Li Shenming said that in 2017, there were about 11.6 million tourists to Fengjia, but last year, the number of tourists in Fengjia business district fell by about 700,000, and there were only 10.91 million people throughout the year, the lowest point in 11 years. In addition, the consumption amount in Fengjia business district last year also decreased compared with the previous one. In 2017, Fengjia business district's annual turnover was approximately 9.39 billion yuan ( NT$3, the same below), and last year it fell to 8.5 billion yuan, almost the same as the 8.7 billion yuan after the financial tsunami in 2009. What's especially true that due to the addition of many hotels around Fengjia in recent years, the business opportunities in the business district have increased from 1.7 billion in 2017 to 2 billion last year.
Wang Chaoyi, chairman of Fengjia Visitor Service Center, said that the population and consumption power of Fengjia business district continue to decline. In addition to being affected by major environmental factors, it is also related to the failure of mainland tourists. In the past three years, the number of mainland groups has dropped significantly. The number of Southeast Asian tourists advocated by the Taiwan authorities cannot make up for the reduced number of mainland tourists. According to statistics, the average consumption amount per person for mainland tourists is about 1,300 yuan, which is higher than that of Taiwan tourists.
