Beijing News (Reporter Liu Chen) On May 12, the New Army Bay Area Winglong Team of the East Asian Super League announced that it had signed with Brian Gore, who had won the best coach of the CBA, who will take charge of the coaching position in the next two seasons.
The Bay Area Winglong team is located in Hong Kong, China, but due to the epidemic, in March this year, the team will temporarily move their home courts to Manila, the capital of the Philippines, as a special invitation team to participate in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) League Committee Cup.
Last year at the Tokyo Olympics, Gore led the Australian men's basketball team to win the bronze medal. He had more than ten years of CBA coaching experience and became the first foreign coach in CBA history to be elected the best coach in the 2013-2014 season. In 2018 and 2019, Gore led the Xinjiang team and Zhejiang Guangsha to participate in the Eastern Super League respectively.

During this year's CBA offseason, there were news that many teams were trying to contact Gore, but he finally chose to sign with the Bay Area Wing Dragons. Gore expressed his honor to be in the Eastern Super League again, "I look forward to this challenge. It is exciting to be the first special invitation team in the PBA in 20 years and participate in the Eastern Super League."
It is understood that Gore will build a lineup of top free agents from mainland China, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Taipei Chinese region. Like all Eastern Super League teams, the Bay Area Wing Lotus will have two foreign players and one Asian Foreign League, while only one foreign player is allowed to participate in the PBA League Committee Cup (height restrictions are to be determined).
This year's PBA League Committee Cup is scheduled to start on October 2nd. The first home and away season of the Eastern Super League will be launched in October this year, with a total of 8 teams participating.
