Zu Yinglian, 57 years old this year, worked in Guandu Meat Products Factory when she was young. Later, she was in a free relationship with Pang Jianguo, who was 3 years older than her and worked at Guandu Coal Station. In 1984, the two got married and gave birth to a daughter two years later. Originally, the family lived a dull and happy life, but the subsequent series of changes failed to predict: In 2006, Zu Yinglian suffered from cerebral infarction and diabetes, causing lesions in her left leg and limped while walking. She was later rated as a Level 4 disability in the limbs. For this reason, Zu Yinglian lost his job and had to get out of illness. Misfortune never came singly. In 2013, his originally tough husband Pang Jianguo was suddenly diagnosed with throat cancer. Zu Yinglian borrowed hundreds of thousands of yuan from relatives and friends, and finally saved his life. However, his husband almost lost his voice from then on, and became a first-class speech. Usually, he could only make a monotonous cry from his hoarse throat, and sometimes he even had to write to communicate with his wife. When both sides suffered such a heavy blow, the couple's hearts got closer.
Zu Yinglian told reporters that because she and her husband are disabled and cannot go out to earn money, she also has to spend more than 1,000 yuan to get injections and medicine every month. For many years, she can only rely on the two of them to maintain basic living expenses. Now that the daughter is working in the city, the couple also has to help take care of their young grandson. The three of them depend on each other under the same roof. Although his life was not well-off, Zu Yinglian said his husband with a sweet look: "He has a good temper and is considerate to me in all aspects. We have hardly ever been blushing or whispering in the past few decades of marriage. I have difficulty moving. Every day he buys vegetables, cooks, mopping the floor, and cleaning, and almost takes care of all the housework. When eating, he picks up food and meat for me; when there is fresh fruit on the market, he will buy it for me to eat. When he sees good-looking clothes, he always asks me to buy it." Zu Yinglian said that sometimes she feels sorry and wants to give her husband water, wash her face and feet. Every time her husband tells her not to bother, and she has already washed it.
