Currently, in the global panel industry, small and medium-sized panels are mainly used for smartphones and other products. The share of Samsung in the AMOLED market is still as high as 85%, and Chinese manufacturers are catching up quickly. In addition, several domestic companies in mainland China have already taken the lead in the large-sized LCD panels.

According to a report released by Qunzhi Consulting, the global shipment of LCD TV panels in the first half of this year was about 140 million pieces, an increase of 3.6% year-on-year, and the shipment area was about 77.34 million square meters, an increase of 10.4% year-on-year.

In the first half of the year, the global shipment share of panel factories in mainland China reached 45.8%, accounting for nearly half of the share. Among them, BOE ranked first, surpassing LG again after Q1 quarter. Taiwan Qunchuang Optoelectronics ranked third, followed by TCL, followed by Huaxing Optoelectronics , and fifth place was Samsung.

In the first half of this year, BOE shipped 27.6 million units, exceeding LG, but it slightly surpassed LG company in terms of shipment area, which shipped 22.65 million pieces, and it can still maintain a little advantage in terms of shipment area.

Qunchuang Company shipped 21.92 million panels in the first half of the year, an increase of 5.6% year-on-year, ranking third in quantity and fourth in area.

In terms of production capacity, global large-size panels grew by 12.2% in the first half of this year, and are expected to grow by 8.8% for the whole year. However, due to fierce competition, the prices of large-size panels have declined rapidly, and the growth of downstream demand cannot keep up with capacity growth, and the global panel industry is also facing downward pressure.

For this reason, major global panel manufacturers, including BOE and LG, will cut production capacity this year. LG plans to cut production by 10-20%, Sharp plans to cut production by 20-30%, BOE also needs to cut production by 25%, and Wuhan's 10.5 generation line is said to be postponed to mass production until the beginning of next year.
