Recently, there were more than 150 confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. As a city with a permanent population of more than 8 million and a migrant population of nearly 5 million, how can Ningbo win this battle to defend the city and achieve dual victories in epidemic prevention and control and resumption of work and production. At 16:00 on February 14, "People's Fight against the Epidemic" launched a special program. Global Times Editor-in-Chief Hu Xijin talked with Chen Zhongchao, member of the Standing Committee of the Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, to give a comprehensive interpretation of this topic.
Hu Xijin: As we all know, Zhejiang Province is a province with a relatively serious outbreak in the new coronavirus epidemic in China. It currently ranks fourth in the country, and it once ranked third. Currently, there are 1,155 confirmed cases in Zhejiang Province, and Ningbo ranked third in Zhejiang Province, with 153 confirmed cases. It is fronted by Hangzhou and Wenzhou .
I have noticed that in recent days, the epidemic situation in Zhejiang Province has been eased. In the latest statistics, there were only 10 new cases yesterday, while Ningbo City has grown by 0 for two consecutive days. In other words, the epidemic in Zhejiang Province has shown a trend of being very serious from the beginning and then gradually eased.

Today, I would like to ask Mayor Chen to introduce to you the basic situation of Ningbo City. Mayor Chen, let me first introduce to you why there was a serious outbreak in Ningbo City at the beginning.
Chen Zhongchao: As you just introduced, when the epidemic started, there were relatively many cases in Ningbo, but as of yesterday, the latest data I saw today, you also introduced just now that we did not have new cases for two consecutive days yesterday and the day before yesterday. There are only 153 cases now, of which 35 have been cured and discharged from the hospital. So far, Ningbo ranks third in Zhejiang Province.
causes such a situation. We analyze that on the one hand, there is a characteristic of time occurrence. Because of the outbreak of this epidemic, at the time node, just before the Chinese Spring Festival, China is also the largest flow of people in the world. Such movements are likely to cause the spread of the epidemic.

As for our city, there are two special reasons. One is that there are many imported cases. Ningbo, as the economic center of the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta, is an important port city on the eastern coast. It is generally relatively developed in economy and has frequent economic and social interactions with domestic and foreign cities. Last year, the total number of migrant population in Ningbo exceeded 4.8 million, of which nearly 200,000 were from Hubei. In addition, there are more than 40,000 Hubei people who settled in Ningbo, and tens of thousands of people who do business and study in Wuhan. The economic and social exchanges between Ningbo and Wuhan are very close. We usually have airplanes, trains, passenger transport and other public transportation between Ningbo and Wuhan, and the daily passenger flow exceeds more than 3,000 people, which is also an important reason for the frequent occurrence of new coronavirus pneumonia in Ningbo. As of yesterday, the total number of imported cases has reached 49, accounting for 32% of the total.
The second reason is that there are individual cases, which have had a serious impact on the cases in Ningbo. In mid-January, at this time, when we were unaware of the new coronavirus in the early days, a company in Ningbo organized a group event with more than 300 people participating. This event resulted in a total of 66 confirmed cases yesterday related to this event, and the total number of cases in this event accounted for 43% of our total. The above two special reasons account for 75.5% of the total number of cases. After this situation occurred, Ningbo responded positively and took a series of effective measures to prevent imports from outside and spread from inside. The effectiveness of prevention and control has gradually emerged. The number of new cases has gradually declined recently. Editor-in-chief of
