During the Anti-Japanese War and the early liberation of Yucheng, Yangquancun, as the location of the People's Government of Qiyu County , had an unshirkable responsibility and became the forefront of fighting against the Japanese and puppet stubbornness. Japanese imperialism invaded our territory and massacred our military and civilians, which aroused great indignation from Yangquan Village and the surrounding people. Under the leadership of the Qiyu County People's Government, people shared the same hatred of the enemy and fought bravely. They fought resolutely with the Japanese and puppet stubbornness, and many heroic figures emerged. Underground trafficman Yang Yongchang is one of them.

Yang Yongchang (1910-1946), from Yangquan Village, Xinzhai Town. Although he is not very educated, he is very smart. When he was a teenager, he came into contact with Mr. Sun Yat-sen's idea of "Three Principles of the People" and was influenced by some new ideas.
He hated the corrupt Beiyang government and fought for years. In his youth, he was influenced by his nephew Wang Kekou (Yang Yongchang was Wang Kekou's uncle). He hated the Kuomintang's miscellaneous group's behavior of surrendering to the Japanese invaders to harm the Chinese. In addition, his nephew Wang Kekou often instilled revolutionary principles in him, which made him finally realize that only by expelling the Japanese invaders, overthrowing the Kuomintang reactionaries, and eliminating the miscellaneous group's bandits, can the people truly live a good life.
For this reason, with the encouragement of Wang Kekou, he resolutely embarked on the revolutionary path. He gave great support to the revolutionary cause Wang Kekou was engaged in and often donated food and money to the troops free of charge.

Yang Yongchang made outstanding contributions to the revolutionary cause. He usually makes a living by doing small business, and often pushes a floor cart to Luokou, Jinan to buy tiles and pots, and then goes around the streets to sell. Wang Kekou secretly assigned him the task, allowing him to use the favorable conditions for selling clay pots and clay pots in Chuanxiang to secretly communicate with relevant personnel or comrades who invaded the enemy's internal forces, and observe and understand the enemy's movements at any time.
Because of the timely and accurate information, our army defeated the conspiracy of the Japanese and puppet regiments again and again, avoiding the losses of the revolutionary team. Once, Yang Yongchang and our intelligence officers who invaded Li Lianxiang were discovered by the enemy when they were secretly connecting at the east gate of Xinzhai Street. Our intelligence personnel faced the enemy's severe torture and refused to confess and were beaten to death by Li Lianxiang.
Li Lianxiang determined that Yang Yongchang was our military spy. Although he did not have conclusive evidence, he "d rather believe it." So Li Lianxiang asked Zhao, a member of Yangquan Village who was in the army under his command, to secretly monitor Yang Yongchang's movements. When Yang Yongchang returned home with the tiles, he would report it secretly. Li Lianxiang immediately ordered his subordinates to set up a secret ambush in Yangquan Village. Zhao tricked Yang Yongchang out with a trick and led him to the west forest of the village. He was killed by several groups of bandits who had already ambushed there with wooden sticks, and then threw the body into the ditch. Soon, Yang Yongchang's wife fled to the sisters' house of Dongtun (Liberated Area) with her young son, and survived.
"Where there is oppression, there is resistance." The Japanese and puppet atrocities aroused strong indignation from the surrounding people. The third brigade led by Wang Kekou, the Qiyu County Government and the armed forces led by Bai Guang fought an arduous struggle against the Japanese and puppet stubborn people near Yangquan Village, the anti-Japanese front line in the southwest Yu.
In October 1940, Wang Kekou led the third brigade to Yangquan Village and was known to the enemy. Before dawn the next day, the local stubborn Li Lianxiang colluded with the Japanese army to attack the third brigade. Li Lianxiang's troops fought south from Weizhai , and the Japanese army attacked from south to north from the General Temple stronghold, trying to attack north and south, and encircled the iron walls. Wang Kekou sent a company to hide in the trenches to restrain the enemy; the remaining troops were divided into two groups, led by Wang Kekou and Booker to detour south, unexpectedly attacking them, and capturing the enemy's retreat.
At dawn, gunfire sounds in the south of Yangquan Village, and the Japanese army was surrounded by three brigades. Our army cooperated inside and outside, and rushed together, which gave a heavy blow to the Japanese army. Seeing that the well-equipped Japanese army was also injured, Li Lianxiang hurriedly retreated.
In this battle, our army seized more than 40 large guns, one crooked machine gun, and more than 5,000 bullets. Our army suffered more than 20 casualties and killed more than 200 enemies, including more than 30 of them below the Japanese squad leader Jiro Tono. A Japanese military doctor was captured alive. Shi Jianxun, a soldier from the third brigade, originally wanted to treat the prisoners preferentially, but he fought desperately and was stabbed to death by a soldier named Yao Zhizhi in our army to death on the earth cliff with a bayonet.
On April 12, 1943, a fierce battle broke out near the Wei River between the Water Temple and Yangquan. It is known in history as the "Battle of the Reed River". Our army's Qiyu County Brigade and Bai Guang (formerly known as Sun Zhenqing) have hundreds of people. They are ordered by the county party secretary Liu Yulin and county magistrate Yang Cheng to attack Jiao Yanlu (from Guanzhuang Village, Xinzhai Town) company. After a fierce battle for a day and night, more than 100 enemies were wiped out, and the traitor Jiao Yanlu was injured. Zhang Yuying sentenced Jiao Yanlu to death on behalf of our party, and then used a bayonet to kill Jiao Yanlu. In this battle, our army also suffered more than 30 casualties.

Li Lianxiang, the once domineering and arrogant bandit leader, died the night before the death penalty due to his serious injuries (according to an old man in the know, Li Bandit committed suicide by swallowing gold). The 21 executioners with the blood of the people and Li Lianxiang's bodies were tied to poplar trees beside the venue, waiting for the people's trial.
Qiyu County Party Secretary Liu Yulin and Dong Wenjiang, and County Mayor Yang Cheng denounced and counted the heinous crimes committed by Li Lianxiang and 21 bandits at the meeting.

People in the seven districts, who had suffered from severe revenge for a long time, went to the stage and cried in tears for the crimes of Li Lianxiang and 21 bandits. Thinking of the brutally murdered by Li Lianxiang, people were furious and could no longer suppress their hatred, avenging their tragic deaths for their relatives and comrades. Everyone rushed to the stage, and those who had revenge were revenge, and those who had wronged were seeking justice. Some used a knife to snatch the bandit leader's eyes, some chopped off the nose with an axe, some smashed the bandit's legs with wooden sticks, and some used shovels to wipe out the bandit's arms...
From time to time, the bandits' heart-wrenching screams came from the venue until they died in pain.
Because Li bandits committed a heinous crime in Xueguantun, Lun Town, an old revolutionary base, with the approval of the Qiyu County People's Government, the Xueguantun militia took a cut-off arm of the bandit leader Li Lianxiang back to the village and hung it on a big tree in the village to continue to be displayed. The angry Xue Guantun people used knives and scissors to cut Li's broken arms into the ground again...
The large courtyard of Lingchi and other bandits back then had already become a depression covered with weeds because the villagers built houses and fed soil.
