Pomona, the goddess of fruit guarding the winery
Weather conditions have a very important relationship with grape planting, which directly affects the style and quality of the wines of that year. Therefore, growers in many production areas will place their support on a guardian god, pray for good weather and usher in a "harvest year". If you look closely at the wine label of Earl Villa, you will find that there is a strange avatar printed on it, which is Pomona, the ancient Roman fruit goddess who protects the winery.

Pomona A "pomum" derived from the Latin word, meaning fruit. In the works of some famous poets, Pomona holds a sickle in his right hand and is stationed in a sacred forest near the city of Rome, guarding the fruit trees, especially during the ripening season in September, thereby ensuring the healthy maturity of the crops.
For the winery, harvesting high-quality wine-making grapes is a key step in making high-quality wines. The Earl Villa team hopes to get the blessing of Goddess Pomona and fully utilize the terroir potential of the vineyards. So they commissioned professionals to redesign and portray a goddess Pomona with grapes and vines on their heads. Since 1979, this avatar has been printed on the bottle of the winery, which has also become the symbol of the winery.
Brunello, Tuscany's brilliant pearl
Whenever talking about Italian wine, I believe that many wine friends blurt out ABBBC - ABBBC (Amarone), Barolo, Barbaresco, Brunello and Chianti Classico. These five most famous DOCG-grade wines have unique styles and are each charming, demonstrating Italy's strong strength as a veteran wine producer. Brunello full name Brunello - Montalcino (Brunello di Montalcino), is produced in the vineyards in Montalcino town. The 21 hectares of land in Earl Villa is located here. The soil in its vineyard is mainly Galestro and marl, which can absorb light and heat well, help grapes ripen, and can also give the fruit a fresh mineral atmosphere. Only sangiovese (Sangiovese) is planted in the park, with a tree age of 15-35 years. Originating from Italy, the variety is an ancient grape variety, also known as Brunello in the town of Montasino. According to the production area regulations, Brunello wine must be brewed with 100% santiovise.

Brunello was rated as DOC level in 1966, and then promoted to Italy's highest DOCG level in 1980. In order to ensure quality, Italian officials have also formulated very strict aging regulations: ordinary-grade brunello can only be launched after January 1, 5th year after harvest. During this period, wines need to be aged in oak barrels and bottled for at least 4 months; and treasured wines must wait until the 6th year before they can be launched, and they will be aged in oak barrels and bottled for at least 6 months.
2010, Brunello top year
2010, the vineyards in Earl Villa experienced excellent germination and flowering periods. The rainy and humid June and July slowed down the growth of vines and extended the growth period. The ideal weather in August and early September well balanced the early weather conditions and was not too hot. Overall, 2010 was an excellent year.

Brunello-Montalcino Wine Association (Consorzio Del Vino Brunello di Montalcino) will rate each year, with a total of five levels, and the excellent quality 2010 won the highest ★★★★★★★. The Robert Parker Team and the authoritative magazine Wine Spectator also gave Brunello a super high rating of 98 points in 2010. There is no doubt that this is one of Brunello's top years.
