Virgin, Qantas and Jetstar have added more cheap flights as multiple Australian states reopen their borders to NSW. A Qantas spokesman said,

On Tuesday, Queensland expanded its border with NSW, allowing more residents in northern NSW to enter the state freely. South Australia will also open its borders to New South Wales residents at 12:01 a.m. Thursday.

In response, Qantas will resume flight services between Sydney and Adelaide from Thursday; Jetstar will increase flights between the two cities from 5 flights per week to 2 flights per day starting from October 1, and there will be 3 flights per day starting from November, and it is expected to announce flash purchases of air tickets within 24 hours. A Qantas spokesman said, "QA has resumed Sydney to Adelaide flights and Jetstar's increase in flights on this route is good news for travelers and local businesses in South Australia and New South Wales."

Virgin Atlantic has reopened flights between Canberra and Adelaide, and will also open daily flights between Adelaide and Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra, and will add more than 3,000 flights between Canberra and the Gold Coast in October.

Flights between Canberra and Adelaide will be reopened on October 12, with three round trips a week, with bookings starting on Tuesday. From October 2, round trips from Adelaide to Sydney will increase from three times a week to once a day, from November 2 to twice a day, with bookings starting on Wednesday.

Virgin, Qantas and Jetstar have added more cheap flights as multiple Australian states reopen their borders to NSW. A Qantas spokesman said,

1 In October, round trips between Brisbane and Canberra will increase from 3 times a week to once a day, and round trips between Canberra and the Gold Coast will increase from 2 times a week to 5 times a week. These flights are available for booking starting Tuesday. "We look forward to further safely opening the borders to help the tourism and aviation industry recover and provide Australians with more opportunities to travel to the local area," said Russell Shaw, the head of Virgin Atlantic's itinerary. The news is not only beneficial to local residents, but also welcomed by embattled airlines.

At the worst of the epidemic, most flights of Virgin Atlantic were cancelled, with only a few flights to and from Melbourne and Sydney.

This uncertainty forced Virgin Atlantic into bankruptcy management procedures, and also led to the bankruptcy of low-cost airline Tiger Air, causing the loss of 3,000 jobs.
