According to Ettoday's October 10 report, Xingyu Public Relations Director Nie Guowei confirmed that in order to personally go to Airbus' to drive back to Xingyu Airlines' first A350 passenger plane, Zhang Guowei rushed to Singapore for examination, and was scheduled to return to the new plane by the end of October.
Zhang Guowei revealed on social media on June 28 this year that it was his last flight to the Airbus A321neo. He wrote at that time: "I felt a little sad. When I bid farewell to 777 6 years ago, I didn't even have the chance to be sentimental. This is life! I can't plan my own separation from life and death. So what else should I care about? Letting go is the best way to end my life. Thank you B777 and A321Neo for adding glory to my life."
Zhang Guowei was unable to fly Boeing 777 passenger plane six years ago because he left EVA Air . He obtained the first batch of Airbus A321Neo captain licenses for Star Aerospace three years ago. At the end of June this year, he had to start receiving the A350 aircraft transfer training. According to international civil aviation regulations and Taiwan's civil aviation regulations, he could not fly A321Neo again to avoid confusion, so there was a farewell statement.
Zhang Guowei revealed that after obtaining the A350 pilot license, he went to Singapore's Treasure Seafood to comfort himself.
According to the aviation circle, Zhang Guowei is a well-known civil aviation person in Taiwan. He was once the general manager and chairman of EVA. He is one of the few airline leaders who can fly aircraft, have an aircraft pilot license, and repair aircraft. When he was at EVA, he personally flew the Boeing 777 passenger plane. At the beginning of 2016, his father, , founder of , Evergreen Group, , Zhang Rongfa, passed away. Zhang Rongfa originally appointed his youngest son (the only son of the second wife), Evergreen Airlines chairman Zhang Guowei succeeded the group president and everything under the name of Zhang Rongfa, but the three half-brothers strongly opposed it. In the end, Zhang Guowei left , Evergreen and Evergreen Airlines sadly. Subsequently, Zhang Guowei founded Star Aerospace himself. In 2019, Zhang Guowei successfully obtained the Airbus A321 license and went to Germany to fly Star Aerospace's first aircraft, an A321Neo, back to Taiwan in October 2019.
In addition, in early 2018, Airbus A350-1000 was displayed in Asia. Zhang Guowei boarded the A350 cockpit from South Korea to experience it and flew to Taiwan. He said, " Airbus A350-1000 is a very good model I have experienced." If the A350-1000 is introduced in the future, "I will drive it myself."
Zhang Guowei once said that he would strive to build Star Aviation into "the best airline in the world." Star Aerospace has a planned fleet size of 39 aircraft. In addition to 13 Airbus A321neo, it will also receive 18 Airbus A350s (10 A350-900s, 8 A350-1000s) and 8 A330neos. Star Aerospace is expected to use the A350 to open US routes in April 2023.
