Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, November 10th. French government health consulting agency recommended on the 8th that people under 30 years old should avoid getting vaccinated with the Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine produced by Moderna, the United States, when there are other options. The reason is that the latest research data shows that in "very rare" cases, this vaccine may cause the vaccinated to suffer from myocarditis .
The French National Health Administration quoted recent Moderna vaccination data and a French research report released on the same day on the 8th, pointing out that among people under the age of 30, the risk of myocarditis after receiving the Moderna vaccine is about 5 times that of the Pfizer vaccine in the United States.

Pfizer vaccine and Moderna vaccine are both messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccines, and are two vaccines commonly purchased by European and American governments.
Due to the fact that many rare side effects such as myocarditis and pericarditis have occurred in young people vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine, Canada, Finland , Sweden , Denmark, Norway and other countries have recently adjusted the recommended vaccination age range for Moderna vaccine.
European Medicines Agency last month recognized the Moderna vaccine for "enhanced shots" for people over 18 years old. The European Union pharmaceutical regulator updated its Moderna vaccine use recommendation in July, identifying it for people aged 12 to 17. The recommendation points out that the Moderna vaccine has side effects on this population, and a "very few" may experience symptoms such as cardiac inflammation, but overall the benefits of vaccination outweigh the risks.
The French National Health Agency said that its recommendations for the Moderna vaccine are not divided into the first shot, the second shot or the "enhanced shot" and will continue to be effective until more relevant research data are obtained.
However, for people over 30 years old, the French National Health Administration recommended vaccination with the Moderna vaccine, because relevant data show that its effectiveness is slightly higher than that of the Pfizer vaccine.
