Our army is an invincible civilized and mighty army. Our army has always followed the requirements of the times, kept pace with the times, and made progress. In terms of establishment, from the sixth military region on the first day of the founding of the People's Republic of China to the five major war zones today, the changes of commanders and political commissars from the state-level, marshals to generals and lieutenant generals are a microcosm of our army's innovative reforms. Today, the editor has compiled a panoramic view of the major historical evolution of our army, hoping to be a reference for you to understand our army’s military history!
Deng Xiaoping He Long Chen Yi
The first phase of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Chairman Mao, a great man of a generation, was familiar with history and had a high perspective. After the field troops completed their established combat tasks, they all canceled their numbers and implemented the management system of six administrative regions, including Northeast China, North China, East China, Central and Southwest, Northwest and Southwest, and set up six military regions on this basis. Gao Gang was appointed as commander and political commissar, Li Fuchun was appointed as deputy political commissar; Nie Rongzhen was appointed as commander, Bo Yibo was appointed as political commissar; Chen Yi was appointed as commander of the East China Military Region (predecessor of the Nanjing Military Region) and Rao Shushi was appointed as political commissar; Lin Biao was appointed as commander of the Central South Military Region (predecessor of the Guangzhou Military Region) and Luo Ronghuai was appointed as first political commissar; He Long was appointed as commander of the Southwest Military Region (predecessor of the Chengdu Military Region) and Deng Xiaoping was appointed as political commissar; Peng Dehuai was appointed as commander of the Northwest Military Region (predecessor of the Lanzhou Military Region) and Xi Zhongxun was appointed as political commissar. Among them: Deng Xiaoping, Lin Biao and Li Fuchun are the national level; Peng Dehuai, Lin Biao, He Long, Chen Yi, Luo Ronghuan and Nie Rongzhen are the marshals; the rest are the vice-national level.
Yang Yong Yang Dezhi Yang Chengwu
The second phase sets up the twelve military regions. In February 1955, the Central Military Commission and the Central Military Commission decided to transform the original six major military regions into 12 major military regions based on the Cold War situation at that time. The ages of the commanders were almost concentrated between 40 and 50 years old, namely: General Deng Hua, commander of Shenyang Military Region, General Yang Chengwu, commander of Beijing Military Region, General Yang Dezhi, commander of Jinan Military Region, General Xu Shiyou, commander of Nanjing Military Region, Major General Ding Sheng, commander of Guangzhou Military Region, General Chen Zaidao, commander of Wuhan Military Region, General Xie Fuzhi, commander of Kunming Military Region, General He Bingyan, commander of Chengdu Military Region, Lieutenant General Zhang Dazhi, commander of Lanzhou Military Region, commander of Xinjiang Military Region, Lieutenant General Wang Enmao, commander of Xinjiang Military Region, Lieutenant General Zhang Guohua, commander of Tibet Military Region, and commander of Inner Mongolia Military Region, General Ulanfu, commander of Inner Mongolia Military Region. General Su Yu took the lead in presiding over the reform of the military region system.
in the third stage one increase and two decreases. In 1956, the Fuzhou Military Region was added due to the need for the struggle against Taiwan, and its commander was General Ye Fei; in 1967, due to the deterioration of Sino-Soviet relations, the Inner Mongolia Military Region was demoted to a provincial military region and transferred to the Beijing Military Region; in 1969, in order to coordinate resources, the Tibet Military Region was demoted to a provincial military region and transferred to the Chengdu Military Region. To this end, the total number of military regions in our country is the 11 major military regions.
Deng Xiaoping and Qin Jiwei
The fourth stage enters the seven military regions. In June 1985, in order to adapt to the development of the international and domestic situation, the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission decided to disarmament by one million, and at the same time decided to merge 11 major military regions into seven major military regions: Shenyang, Beijing, Jinan, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Lanzhou. The commanders at that time were: General Liu Jingsong, General Qin Jiwei, General Li Jiulong, General Xiang Shouzhi, General You Taizhong, General Fu Quanyou, and Lieutenant General Zhao Xianshun.
The fifth stage enters the five major war zones. On February 1, 2016, the former seven military regions became history, and our country entered a new era of five major war zones in the east, south, west, north and central. The commanders at that time were: General Liu Yue's army, General Wang Jiaocheng, General Zhao Zongqi, General Song Puxuan, and General Han Weiguo.
These five stages carry our army from victory to glory, carry the glory and dreams of countless soldiers, and carries that passionate years. Now it quietly enters the palace of history, but we will never forget it! I would like to dedicate this document to the great Chinese People's Liberation Army soldiers!
