A few days ago, Tesla will recall nearly 1.1 million cars in the United States because some models of window lifting systems may not respond correctly when they detect obstacles and may clamp a person's fingers.
But Tesla CEO Musk posted a message on his social media to respond that this was just a small OTA update, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) called the OTA update a recall as "outdated and inaccurate."
Musk said that according to their understanding, no incidents of injury caused by the above-mentioned window problems occurred. Musk believes that the term "recall" needs to be updated because the above-mentioned window glitches can be remedied by downloading a fix, and there is no need to drive the car to the repair shop. Without a proper automatic reversing system, the closed windows may squeeze the driver or passenger before retreating, increasing the risk of injury.
If there are similar hidden dangers, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that these vehicles do not meet the requirements of federal motor vehicle electric window safety standards.
Tesla said that during product testing in August, the company's employees found that the performance of the window automatic flip system "had a greater change in response to extrusion detection than expected."
After a lot of additional tests, Tesla determined that the vehicle's grip detection and retracting performance did not meet the requirements of the automatic reversing system in the test results.
Musk's denial is obviously a "dead duck's stubbornness". The fundamental reason for the recall of cars is because there are problems in large quantities of vehicles themselves. The loopholes in Tesla's OTA function involve as many as 1.1 million vehicles, but Musk only emphasizes the word "recall", which inevitably leads to the suspicion of changing concepts, but he does not tell himself.
