Introduction
Hello everyone, I, Today's Toutiao 's creator Aya Koji Yikyu, sometimes when I'm fine, I will recall the days of the previous animation creation, such as the animation magazine "Dynamic New Force" that first inspired me to create anime, the previous comics in the game magazine "Electronic Game Software", and the experience of creating comics myself later. This time, I took this opportunity to record some of the things I did before and sorted it out, and I can also give other young animation creators experience and lessons, and we will work hard on this road together.
On the road of creating anime, I was fortunate to meet the low-key comic master "Tomy Superman", the dubbing group " Funny Comic Day and " Baomu Zhongyang , the cartoonist Ji Le Bird of " Good Morning Earth ", the author of the comic "My Senior Brother has a Pit in the Brain", the little wolf in "New Dynamic Forces", JEDI, the editor-in-chief of " 2D Fanatic ", and many other interesting Chinese animation people. I sincerely hope that you will continue to overcome obstacles and move forward bravely in the animation field where they are good at. Come on.
and listen to the story.
"Electronic Game Software" painter Hua Yao and "Dynamic New Force" magazine
My animation creation enlightenment teachers are two, one is the painter and the other is a magazine.
has to start from the beginning. More than ten years ago, I joined a game magazine. This magazine was called "Electronic Game Software". It was the earliest home game magazine in China. At that time, I was very obsessed with home games. I had an Nintendo red and white machine FC at home. This red and white machine has a great background. When I was in elementary school, some red and white machine game stores appeared on the streets and alleys. Because I liked it and had no money, I surrounded people playing games. It was a very young and handsome guy with red lips and white teeth, so fortunately the boss didn't hit me, but it was very late to go home. I studied very well at that time. After my father knew that I liked game consoles, he took a bus from my suburban urban-rural fringe in Beijing to Xidan one weekend morning. When he came back in the evening, he brought back a red and white FC. He was so happy at that time and had forgotten his condition at that time. But now when he thinks about it, he still shed tears. Oh no, it's because the wind is too strong and sand always blows in!
Since then, I have been fascinated by the game hunger, and many people around me have read the magazine "Electronic Game Software". By chance, I joined this magazine. Not long after joining the magazine, the editor said, "Who, our painter has drawn you an editor's image, and then use him in the future. When I saw it, hey, it looks like it!" Very funny, I was a non-mainstream person at that time, and my comic-like editor image was simply.
The painter who drew the image of a comic book for me is Hua Yao, and he is an old painter of Electric Soft. We have been in touch for more than ten years. I have always said that I will give him a game console and I have always forgotten about it. Fortunately, he didn't mention it either, hahaha. Because I have been using this editor for a long time and have feelings for me, I asked me to ask other artists to help me modify it, or I can use it in other places other than magazines? He agreed happily, which made me very grateful. His online name is Hua Yingxiong. He is very righteous as his name is. His home is from Zhengzhou, Henan.
The image of this comic editor drawn by Hua Yao for me made me first come into contact with comic creation , which will be of great help to me in the future making comic magazines and comics.
My second enlightenment is "Dynamic New Force" magazine. This animation magazine is next door to us. Several young men are very homeless and almost never leave the house. Their magazine's reputation was well-known at that time, but when I saw that they were just ordinary otakus, I also received some encouragement. The people I often see in "New Dynamic Forces" are Xiaolang. The core of their dynamic new movies is actually the first-hand film source from Japan. The Internet was not yet developed at that time, and the second dimensions were exposed to the latest animation information through this magazine.
My animation magazines "Zhou Communication" and "Anime Family"
In April 2010, I made an animation magazine. The opportunity to make this animation magazine was actually very interesting. When I was in "Electronic Game Software", the magazine sales were not good. Another magazine under its subsidiary, " Handheld Fan ", was facing suspension. Then a CBS Group in Beijing wanted to poach people to make a same handheld magazine. Columbia has many game animation magazines, such as "Practical Technology of Game Machines" and "Two Dimensional Fanatic", "High Novels", "801 Who Woman", etc. They found me and I changed jobs. The person in charge was Yang Li, and Sister Yang was very courageous and asked me if you could make a handheld magazine alone? I patted my chest and said, okay, no problem, but I was actually very nervous because I am a very introverted and autistic person. How much? I don’t dare to look up on the way to the company. I worry about having lunch every day because there are many people on the street, afraid of opening their mouths and squeezing the elevator. Our company is on the 11th floor, so I climbed the stairs and turned inward to this point.
Then Sister Yang said, "You do it, give you two months of preparation, is it enough?" I said enough, hehe, of course, hehe, of course, hehe, because after a month, things changed. After the "Handle Machine Fan" was discontinued for about 10 years, several other handheld magazines appeared like mushrooms after a rain. They wanted to seize this market and were beaten up. Sister Yang kept urging me, saying when will this publication be released? People have released it, and the daylily was cold when you released it. I thought to myself, I can't make handheld computers anymore. Everything I do is dead. Then I will make an animation magazine. I just like comics. I patiently do work for Sister Yang, and I feel rational and emotional. In the end, it's because I'm going to publish a new magazine, so let me try it, and then I did it.
This magazine is called "Homecommunication", but in fact, the first name was "Homecoming to death! Ah hey! 》, the name of the magazine I named is the same as mine, not mainstream. At that time, several editors of the magazine gathered together to see the situation. Wow, I thought to myself that you are a big thunder, whoever touches you will be hit by you. These are the editors of "Two Dimensional Fanaticism", "High Novels" and "801 Women". They are really experienced, and to be honest, I just want to try it.
More than a month later, the first issue came out. I was the one who made an appointment, column planning, text writing, and promotion. I was the one who blamed me for taking pictures of my chest. Then I invited two gods next door to help me on the cover and CD. These two gods are now in Tencent and the other is in Youyan Club. One god insisted on jumping into the trash can after lunch together. As a result, I sprained my ankle. I said to myself, who are these people? This god is now in Youyan Club, and his appearance has improved.
The magazine "Zhou Communication" also has original comics and some contents of Chinese animation. The magazine has made three issues in total. At that time, there was a dubbing version of "Funny Comics Day and He" on the Internet, which was particularly popular. The dubbing teacher was Baomu Zhongyang of CUCN201. I contacted Teacher Song Yang and asked them to share the behind-the-scenes production and how to dub them. There was also a comic knowledge sharing column. I invited the cartoonist Ji Leniao from "Good Morning Earth" to write us a teaching guide for novices, and an original comic, and invited Ling Yumo, an online cartoonist at that time (representative work "My Senior Brother has a Tire in the Brain").
My big mozi sister really made me worry. At the beginning, I had a good chat, the story script, storyboard , and then the delivery time was all agreed. It was still a week away. I asked her, and she said there was no problem. I still had a few days left. She said there was no problem. When something happened when the manuscript was submitted, she said, "Oh, my mother had an accident. Someone was deducted when setting up a stall. I said that's okay, "What a bad thing, if we detain our mother, then we can tolerate it." I said, "You are in Tianjin. If you are in Beijing, I will ask for an explanation for you."
Then I went back and forth for a long time. Anyway, there was always something wrong, so I finally gave the manuscript. However, she insisted on asking for cash for the manuscript fee and said that I would go to Beijing one day and one day, and you just go downstairs to give it to me. I was confused. Then one day, Ling Yumo really came, so we paid the money and delivered the goods at the same time, as if we had completed an underground transaction. Let me add that Ling Yumo is so cute! She is cute and beautiful, a little loli, but time has changed. Now more than ten years have passed, it’s still an aunt, right? Well (hold your chin).
The original comic of "Electronic Game Software" that Tommy and I collaborated with
Anime magazine was made with great success, and my old boss had a pill. In mid-2010, the magazine "Electronic Game Software" was facing the inability to recruit people, so the old man called me to go back and support me, so I said goodbye to Sister Yang, the editor-in-chief and the two gods one by one, and returned to "Electronic Game Software" magazine, thinking of some new columns to help him take the last journey.
The magazine was really in a downturn at that time. I was already addicted to World of Warcraft and abandoned the home computer game, so I almost couldn't help with the game. The only thing I could do was to do a comic column. After all, I had experience in making an anime magazine. Then I posted hero posts online and post bars to ask the artist for help. Suddenly one day, I received a call like a god's help. The other party said, "Don't ask me to draw, I'll show you my previous works, which looked very mysterious. I was stunned when I saw the works. The quality of the comics he gave me was really silly. This god's name is Tommy, and I gave him a nickname, Superman Tommy, because he appeared when we needed it the most, he was like a savior.
That's it. In the summer of 2010, Tommy Superman and I started making original comics in the old game magazine "Electronic Game Software". At the beginning, I wrote the script lines, and Tommy played storyboards and paintings. The original comics on "Electronic Game Software" have been made for more than 10 episodes. Once, Tommy took the process of making his own original comics and put them in a magazine to share with comic lovers, including how to draw drafts, design storyboards, and how to use tools.
Tommy Superman has a good friend named Tian Xiaopeng , who was the one who later made "The Return of the Great Sage". Tommy Superman has also spent a lot of effort and energy on many excellent domestic animation works. We have always been in touch. A little selfish thing about me later working as a self-media on Toutiao is that I hope to continuously improve my comic business capabilities and have the opportunity to contribute to Chinese animation with them. However, I know that my power is still very small and I still need to continue learning.
Original comics really need to be persisted. After we worked together for more than ten episodes, I took the excuse of being too busy and pushed the comic screenwriter and lines to Tommy Superman. Now I think about it, I am really irresponsible.
My other comic creation experiences
Around 2013, I joined a Nasdaq listed company. At that time, I started to draw some things by myself. Then in a comic competition held by the company, I had a sudden idea and spent one night to draw a short comic "Old Boy" on a roll of toilet paper. The comic won the third prize and won a JD card of 500 yuan. This competition opened the door to my creation of comics.
After several years of dormancy, I finally defeated a game called "League of Legends". When I was out of the trap, time passed and time came to 2018. This year, I made two series of comics, one with the theme of comic exhibition called "The King of Comic Exhibition", and the other with the theme of game players, called "The Family of the Climbing Tribe". The latter comic series is actually a continuation of the "Electronic Soft" comic. Both comics were planned by me and I found other painters to help.
When creating "King of Comics", I found a famous comic exhibition tycoon in Beijing and the webmaster of Comics Network "Wangyue" to make the comic prototype. Based on him, I created the story. At the beginning, I thought that he would give me some records of life details, such as diaries, etc. However, this guy's diary was all about flowing accounts and blind feelings, and there was no reference value at all. In the end, I had to write the script myself. I compiled a comic script based on participating in the Comic. Mission12 comic exhibition in the Imperial Capital as a clue.
This comic was nominated for the Xinguang Award.
Another comic "The Home of the Levels" is inspired by the "Electronic Game Software" reading and editing communication column "The Home of the Levels" and the game magazine receives some letters from readers every month. The editor publishes some letter content in this column and then interacts with readers. I have turned some people and things related to games in reality into comics, but because I really can't find a painter, the cover of "The Home of the Levels" uses some comic materials designed by Tommy Superman Gang magazine back then.
's experience in making the comic "Home of the Breakthrough Family" has benefited a lot. The second chapter of the comic was inspired by an interview with Wangchuan, an 83-year-old player Yang Binglin. Based on Wangchuan's article, I contacted Mr. Yang and solicited Mr. Yang's opinions, and adapted the comic. The young painter who worked with me on this comic is named Jiang Qi. He has just arrived in Beijing.
Mr. Yang’s gaming experience is very interesting. At first, he wanted to exercise his brain after retirement. He bought a PS game console without telling his wife. Why did he play the game console? Because the old guys in their mahjong hall were smoking at that time, which made people unable to stand it. His grandson likes game consoles. After playing for a long time, Lao Yang thought this thing was good, so he started to think about the game. Lao Yang’s story gave me a lot of inspiration, because many people thought that the older generation did not accept anime games, but you see, it was actually accepted, right? Lao Yang liked to think about the producer’s creative ideas when playing games. Why did he make this game, and what did he want to express? After my comics were made, I posted them on NetEase Comics, and I also sent a copy of the electronic version to Mr. Yang as a souvenir. The two main characters of the story after
are game anchors Queen Yan and Ming Xiaoyan. Both of them are great beautiful anchors. After obtaining the consent of the two great beauties, I began to collect materials. Queen Yan's comics basically tell the story of her ins and outs of being a game anchor.
Ming Xiaoyan, let me tell you, this person is very powerful. She is the host of Shanghai TV Games and the official host of Sony . She is also a fan of the female host of the big game anchor. Her love for games and her pursuit of her career touched me. The previous sentence was nonsense. What impressed me was that this person was so funny. She sniffed her feet during live broadcasts and joked with the former boss of 3DM. She was very slutty. In fact, her own story can be adapted into a comic or sitcom series. The title I gave her comic was "Deyi Sixin Ming Xiaoyan". You know, Xiaoyan also liked it very much after the comic was released. She once used the cover of the comic as the cover of her circle of friends, but later she changed it after the enthusiasm was over (this guy).
By the end of 2018, my comic creation basically came to an end, because it was too expensive. I invested almost 20,000 yuan in "The King of Comics". The comics in the "Electronic Game Software" series cost several thousand yuan for each story. The key is that my comics are still very immature, not the kind that spreads and occupies the mainstream of the market, but are more documentary. In fact, it is better to use graphics and text to show them.
No matter what, these experiences in creating anime have allowed me to gain a lot of things other than money. Now I have reached Toutiao to continue to create. Because I don’t have money, the early accumulation stage is still based on pictures and texts. In the future, I will continue to do my own comics and new columns if I have the chance. Thank you for listening to my nagging.
