Du Tong (1929-2003) is a well-known teacher and a versatile talent who is proficient in every school. Other teachers with unique skills were sent to Mingsha Middle School after being labeled as rightists in other places such as Beijing, Shanghai and Wuhan. Only Du Tong was deposed as a "rightist" and "tight ring" during the most glorious period of Zhongning Middle School and was sent from Zhongning Middle School in the county to Mingsha Middle School in the countryside. Teacher Du Tong is from Shouyang, Shanxi Province. He has been smart and studious since childhood. In the spring of 1951, when Du Tong was 22 years old, he was recommended to be recommended to Beijing Normal University , and was the first college student in New China. He graduated with excellent results in the summer of 1955 and took the initiative to support the border to Ningxia. He served as the director of Zhongning Middle School, a teacher of Changtan Middle School, Mingsha Middle School, and Erdaoqu School (Daimao Middle School). After taking off his hat as a "rightist" in 1978, he served as principal of Mingsha Middle School, deputy director of Zhongning County Culture and Education Bureau, and principal of Zhongning Middle School. After 43 years of working, he has contributed more than 30 years to the education cause of Zhongning . Today, when talking about Teacher Du Tong, people who are a little older in Zhongning County still praise it.
Teacher Du Tong went to Mingsha Middle School and was said to have been "three out and three in" for decades and has never hurt the self-esteem of students. Kang Zhanping, a student at Mingsha Middle School, recalled: On the eve of the college entrance examination, he was really upset that he couldn't read the books, so he invited a few classmates to go to Mingsha Cinema Theater to secretly watch a movie. It was late at night when I returned to school and the school gate was closed. In desperation, I had to climb over the wall and go to school. Unexpectedly, Luodi met Principal Du Tong with full heart - they lowered their heads and waited for the principal to scold him. What he didn't expect was that Teacher Du Tong said kindly: "Go back to bed quickly and don't affect the review of class tomorrow morning." They blamed themselves deeply, worked hard and would study with peace of mind, and deserve Teacher Du Tong's trust. The group of students who were peeking at movies performed extremely well during the college entrance examination, and they were admitted to universities one after another, and developed the habit of being active and motivated. Later, they all became talents: Kang Zhanping was from the former Guyuan Normal College - now Ningxia Normal University - Public Examination as a department-level leader. He went abroad to study before the age of 40, and translated several English books in succession before the age of 50, and worked in many important positions at the department level. During his tenure as director of the Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office, he hosted conferences attended by many national personnel in English, which made foreigners and foreigners admire the quality of Ningxia cadres with admiration. Speaking of Teacher Du Tong, Kang Zhanping couldn't forget: it was Teacher Du who gave him encouragement at the most critical period of his life, so that he could develop the habit of calm and lifelong learning.
To this day, we still vaguely remember the scene when Teacher Du Tong taught us the second high school students in 1972: Teacher Du walked into the classroom and put his elbows on the lectern. The sound was neither high nor low, nor big nor small, just like telling a story or chatting about it, and it was clearly organized. At that time, the old textbooks were abolished, and the new textbooks were only "Basic Knowledge of Industry" and "Basic Knowledge of Agriculture", which students dubbed "Rock" and "Heen". Teachers at Mingsha Middle School compiled their own textbooks to teach students. Teacher Du Tong rarely brings textbooks or lecture notes in class, and everything is in his mind. In geography class, he first drew a gourd-like figure on the blackboard, marked with the word "Ningxia", and the classmates exclaimed. He then drew the gourd-like figures and gradually unfolded: Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Qinghai, Northwest Xinjiang, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Northeast China, Shanxi, Hebei, Henan, Shandong North China, South China, Southeast, Southwest China... It marks one by one, mountains, rivers, rivers, provincial capitals, population, resources, and climate are all connected, which is a map of China in the shape of a rooster. Some students couldn't tell what a physical reaction is or what a chemical reaction is. "A classmate asked, "Why is horse urine so fucked?" Teacher Du Tong told, "Any animal - including advanced animals like humans - the digestive system is a chemical reaction maker. The chemistry class, which was originally afraid of boring, was available everywhere, and was full of fun. He asked everyone to read before class, list the questions, and everyone would speak freely in class. I remember that once he brought two convex lenses, three concave lenses and a ball of cotton, and asked the whole class to test in groups: refract the sunlight onto the cotton ball through the convex lens and the concave lens to see the effect. After a while, the cotton ball illuminated by the convex lens ignited. concave lens shines on the white wall, and seven colors of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple appeared on the wall like a rainbow. Everyone became interested in optics at once. Teacher Du Tong talked to the students about the essence of light and what is light other than the seven colors. Only then did the students understand that the sun that looks up every day actually contains such a huge secret of the universe! Laser, infrared , and ultraviolet rays were the first time we listened to Mr. Du Tong's explanation in high school, which laid the initial scientific foundation for students such as Li Houhun to become world-renowned entomologists and doctoral supervisors of Nankai University.
Teacher Du Tong teaches casually and treats students like confidants. His family lived in Litan Brigade, Changtan Commune at that time. Litan is on the Yellow River beach to the northwest of Mingsha Commune, nearly twenty miles away from Mingsha Middle School. Teacher Du was riding a bicycle in front of us, following closely behind, and went down the steep slope of Mingsha Ancient Tower on Lao'an cliff to the Changtan. On both sides of the road was the Tahe Bend Beach where our brigade placed animals - that was where our young men were looking for their dreams. Until now, we passed by, and often ripples appeared in our hearts...
After the Yellow River rushed out of Heishan Gorge , it accumulated in the flat river between the upstream Shapotou and the downstream Niushou Mountain with turbid sand: the river water was surging, and the mud waves were rolling. Over time, the alluvialization became the Hetao Plain from Zhongning to Zhongwei, and was named "Weining Plain".As the river water decreases and the flow decreases, the riverbed gradually retreats from its original height to the lower part of the river, and cuts out cliff-like cliffs of more than ten meters high between the mountains and the plains: Mingshanhe is on the bank above the cliff, which is far away from the river, so it is called the old bank; the Litan, Zhutan, Xiaotan, Yongfengtan, Huangxintan and other beaches in Changtan are close to the Yellow River below the cliff, so it is called the beach area. The water level of the beach is low, and lakes are everywhere. The channels for irrigating land and drainage ditches used to remove saline and alkali are denser than those of the old shore. In addition, the land is wide and there are more wastelands, far away from the downtown city, and the sky is high and the emperor is far away. It is one of the more abundant and free areas in the Weining Plain.
In 1969, Teacher Du Tong's family was transferred from Zhongning County to Litan Brigade. The gravel road leading from Mingsha Ancient Tower to Changtan to Zhongning County passed by Litan Brigade. There are several large lakes on the grass beach under the Tahe Bay, covered with fine reeds and cattails - it is a paradise where grass animals and aquatic plants compete for freedom.

The tail was slamming back and forth on the butt and hitting the cow fly horse fly that wanted to climb up. Groups of mules and horses were scattered among the reeds in the lake, using their broad and flexible lips to suck their tender grass, and they could hear their sniffling sounds and wading water from a distance. Donkeys and sheep chew on the grass on the deserted beach to eat sharp reeds lying along the ground. The two "sauvive" ( ram ) are like fighting warriors reaching the corner: as rams, they originally led their own large flock of ewes, and they have nothing to do with each other. Immediately afterwards, they rushed to the other party at the fastest speed, and with a "praise", the two heads and four sides hit each other hard, but they separated after just a single hit, and immediately retreated to their original place. Then start again until one side hits and runs away and stops from fighting. The other side wins and returns to the nest, shouting "Mianmianmian" and leading the other side's flock. The defeated Gong Yang looked at his group of wives and concubines from afar and turned into their new love, and did not dare to take another step forward. The bulls pressed their horns to push the other party into the lake at one time - they faced each other with four corners, and they did not let go of each other. Their eyes were open as if they were copper bells at the same time, and they almost burst out their eyes and exhale. No one was willing to take a step back until one side pushed the other into the lake water. Only then was the outcome decided. While the livestock competition, several teams of cattle herding kids also started a "shuttle" competition on the grass beach: the middle line and two sides of each other were drawn in the middle of the grass beach like a football field, and the personnel were divided into several people, each holding a wooden stick to drive the animals, using half of the wooden stick head as a "shuttle", putting it on the center line and shouting "Start--!" Both sides rushed to the other side to rush the "shuttle" desperately. Once you cross the line, the winner will be decided. The winner forced the loser to take off his shoes and socks, and shouted barefoot on the hard reed with barefoot: "Drink it—" I'll start shouting from here to the bottom line over there. Once the sound is broken, I have to start over again. The first time I took off my shoes and ran on the hard reeds, my feet would be poked by the reeds and blood would flow from the flow. After running several times, my feet were ground and poked a layer of hard yellow skin on the reed grass until it could no longer poke it. In addition, I ran quickly, and flew over the tip of the reed grass, which gave me a sense of pleasure of galloping on the battlefield. If we could have a cool breeze blowing over the grass and brushing over the lake with fresh and moist smells of livestock, it would be more comfortable and comfortable than sweating and blowing the air conditioner in midsummer.
Looking at such a natural landscape, Teacher Du said to us: "Observing nature is the best learning - this kind of learning is something that cannot be experienced in class. The key here is to have a pair of eyes that discover beauty."
We got on the bike and pedaled the bicycle chain. The car passed the Changming Bridge above the Xiaonan River. There were drainage ditches flowing with trickles of clear water on both sides of the road. Water accumulates in the ditch, flowing slowly, transparent and clear, and you can see the bottom at a glance. When the bicycle passed, a few small stones splashed occasionally and fell into the ditch. Others think that Japanese teachers are too strict, but they are stricter for children who are not very sensible and can learn knowledge. The grades of each subject were high, and I almost got full marks in Japanese, so I went to Beijing Normal University, relying on the basics of young people learning Japanese."

As soon as the Japanese came, their families were declining year by year. Before I graduated from the normal school, I went to Baotou to work as a primary school teacher to make a living. My old father taught in private schools and practiced medicine in his hometown. Although he did not earn much money, he was deeply loved by the villagers. After the liberation, he had not suffered any impact and had a high prestige in the local area."

Not far from the road in Litan, the grassland lakes are more bends than Tahe River, and the aquatic plants grow lushly than Tahe River. Teacher Du looked a little excited. The white reed roots are pigs’ favorites.If the pig arched out the glutinous melon seeds at the root of the pony grass, the rude boy who placed the pig opened the pig's herd with whip rod , reached into the black mud and dug the glutinous melon seeds as big as chestnuts, peeled off a black layer of skin, and made it a snow-white body like a lychee, throw it into his mouth, and a crisp sound. If it is their privilege to say that the rude boy who is raising pigs competes with the pigs to eat glutinous rice seeds, then it is their patent to ride on the pigs to compete and race: they drive the pigs to the hay beach, climb onto the pigs' backs, and the pigs shout and shout, jump, and run wildly, and throw the rude boy onto the grass beach in just a few steps. The naughty boys compete to see who can ride on the pig for a long time. According to research, most people who can ride pigs will have no barriers that cannot be conquered or made a living.
Mr. Du Tong's home is built in the middle of the front lake and back channel: in front of the house is a fertile wheat field, and in front of the land is a lake. Behind the house is a branch canal for irrigating the fields. Willow trees grow on the edge of the canal. When we went, the canal was filled with water. The two large willow trees have dense branches and leaves on their heads, covering the roofs of the three houses. The house does not have a courtyard wall, exactly the same as those of other farmers' homes. The two vines in front of the door are supported on the eaves of the house, and bunches of grapes are hung with vines, like a farmer's landscape painting. His second son Du Ningxu later became an art teacher. He was the most famous for painting grapes and gave himself a net name "grape". Is it related to the grapes in his family back then? A middle-aged woman, who is not tall but extremely capable, is picking up dry branches blown off by the wind. He murmured to us, "That short woman is your teacher's wife." In 1978, Teacher Du Tong completely removed the rightist "tight ring" and later became the principal of Mingsha Middle School.
