1. Japanese machine tool development history
Machine tool refers to the machine that manufactures machines, also known as working master or tool machine, which is commonly referred to as machine tools. It is generally divided into metal cutting machine tools, forging machine tools and woodworking machine tools. There are many methods for processing mechanical parts in modern mechanical manufacturing. In addition to cutting, there are also casting, forging, welding, stamping, extrusion, etc. However, any parts with high accuracy requirements and finer surface roughness requirements generally need to be finalized by cutting on the machine tool.
Japan is one of the representative countries of precision processing and manufacturing equipment in the world. It has a large market share in the world in the manufacturing of machine tools and other equipment, and its machine tool manufacturing history is long. Between 1988 and 1994, Japan's machine tool production was rapid and domestic demand was strong. In 1990, machine tool orders reached 1.41 trillion yen, but due to the impact of the bubble economy, production decreased sharply; between 1995 and 2011, machine tool orders exceeded 1 trillion yen many times, and in 1998, the external demand for machine tools exceeded domestic demand for the first time. However, due to factors such as subprime mortgage crisis, major earthquakes, and nuclear power plant accidents, machine tool production fluctuated and developed; since 2013, with the intelligence of electronic equipment, the demand for machine tools increased and production increased. After 2020, due to the epidemic, the economic situation of the machine tool industry deteriorated.
