Once upon a time, Taiwan Strait is like "Homesickness" written by Mr. Yu Guangzhong , which divides the treasure island Taiwan and the motherland. Due to political factors, the seemingly shallow strait is actually a "natural chasm" about 200 kilometers wide, blocking the plan for the reunification of the motherland. But in the near future, the Taiwan Strait will no longer block us, because the road network plan to build Taiwan has been proposed again recently.
(The Taiwan Strait that separates Taiwan Island from the mainland, the small archipelago in the middle is Penghu Islands )
According to the "National Comprehensive Three-dimensional Transportation Network Planning Outline" issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, Taipei City, Taiwan Province has been included in the construction branch plan for the main axis of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao transportation, namely the branch line "Fuyang through Huangshan, Fuzhou to Taipei". The planning period is from 2021 to 2035, and construction is expected to start in the middle of this century. The "infrastructure madman" will take action again, and this time it will be the most strategic and contemporary among all infrastructure plans.
(The National Comprehensive Three-dimensional Transportation Network Planning Outline mentions the regular construction of highways to Taiwan)
Putting aside the content of the National Comprehensive Three-dimensional Transportation Network Planning Outline, the plan to build the road through the Taiwan Strait and directly reach Taiwan Province was proposed many years ago. Based on the "five vertical and seven horizontal" formulated by the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China in 1992, the " National Highway Network Planning (2013-2030)" officially proposed in 2013 has already stated that 7 capital radiation, 11 north-south longitudinal lines, 18 east-west horizontal lines and several ring lines have begun to be planned. Seven capital radiations include the "Beijing to Taipei" line, namely the famous G3 Beijing-Taipei Expressway . But don’t get me wrong. The “Taiwan” here is not Taizhou, but Taipei City in Taiwan Province, with a total distance of 2,030 kilometers.
(red circle is the cross-sea section of the G3 Beijing-Taiwan Expressway built to Taipei)
G3 Beijing-Taiwan Expressway needs to cross the Taiwan Strait, so it is necessary to build a bridge and pass through it. Considering that the Taiwan Strait is an important international waterway, the construction of a sea-sea bridge may face resistance. The best solution is to build a bridge and tunnel like Japan built the Qinghan Tunnel across the Tianjin Light Strait (high seas). With our mastery of the geology and landforms related to the seabed of the Taiwan Strait, it is no longer a problem at the technical level, but this is not a small project. The Japanese Qinghan Tunnel has become the longest undersea tunnel in the world with a total length of 53.85 kilometers. It seems that whether the tunnel connecting both sides of the Taiwan Strait can be built will become a major challenge for the "infrastructure maniac" in the future, but nothing is impossible.
(The construction method of Qinghan Tunnel is worth our reference)
In the concept, there are 3 cross-sea routes. In addition to the G3 Beijing-Taiwan Expressway, it also includes Kuntai Highway and National Highway G319. Take the latter as an example. The latter starts in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, passes through Xiamen, Fujian, and ends in Chengdu, Sichuan, which is also a major project.
is not only the radiation and vertical and horizontal lines, but also the local area of Taiwan Province, we also plan G99 Taiwan Ring Expressway. The planned path of the ring line is Taipei-Taichung -Kaohsiung -Taitung-Hualian-Taipei.
(G99 Taiwan Ring Expressway Solution)
Since the east side of Taiwan Island is a towering mountain, the main development of Taiwan Province is towards the west coast, that is, the Taiwan Strait facing the mainland, so far, Taiwan has not built a complete ring line around the island. There are currently 9 lines from "National Highway" No. 1 to "National Highway" No. 1, a total of 9 lines, with a total length of 988.5 meters. However, only 8 lines have been put into use at present. The Lianwai Expressway on the east side of Line 7 Kaohsiung Port is still in the second stage of environmental assessment and will not be opened to traffic in the short term. It seems that the motherland has to be responsible for building roads or something. Otherwise, the Taiwan authorities will probably not be able to come up with a plan to circle the island in another 30 years.
