But unfortunately, Ruan Lingyu committed suicide by taking medicine at the age of 25, leaving only a beautiful back to the world. Her death caused a stir at that time, and two men were instantly pulled into the center of public opinion.

The first man is Zhang Damin , he is the man who accompanied Ruan Lingyu's first half of his life.
When Ruan Lingyu was six years old, her father died of tuberculosis. In order to maintain a life, Ruan Lingyu had to work as a maid from a family named Zhang in Shanghai. Zhang Damin, the young master of the Zhang family, is 6 years older than Ruan Lingyu, and has had some bad ideas about Ruan Lingyu since he was a child.
When Ruan Lingyu was 15 years old, Zhang Damin forced Ruan Lingyu, who was still in the second year of junior high school, and began to live together. In 1932, Ruan Lingyu went to Hong Kong for refuge. There, she met the second man in her life, Tang Jishan. Tang Jishan is a wealthy tea businessman in Southeast Asia. Later, he invested in Lianhua Company and met Ruan Lingyu during a work social engagement.
Ruan Lingyu didn't have any feelings for Tang Jishan at first, but Tang Jishan quietly included Ruan Lingyu on the list of women to conquer.
In fact, there was a female star around Tang Jishan at that time, which was Ruan Lingyu's senior Zhang Zhiyun. Tang Jishan and Zhang Zhiyun were just living together because he had a wife in his hometown in Guangdong. After Zhang Zhiyun knew that they were together, he wrote a letter to Ruan Lingyu, saying, Tang Jishan is not a good man, my today will be your tomorrow.
Although Ruan Lingyu knows that Tang Jishan is a playboy, women are mostly blind after falling in love. She thought Zhang Zhiyun was just jealous of her, so she didn't care at all.
Tang Jishan bought a three-story small foreign building in Shanghai, and the two began a sweet cohabitation life. And this building later became Ruan Lingyu's tomb.
Zhang Damin was already poor at that time. After he knew that Ruan Lingyu was with Tang Jishan, he began to ask Ruan Lingyu for money many times. And compared to before, Zhang Damin was even more greedy and often spoke loudly, which made Ruan Lingyu very distressed.
When Tang Jishan knew about this, she told Ruan Lingyu: This person is asking for money endlessly, and he is a scoundrel. You have to think of a way to deal with it. Seeing that Tang Jishan was a little angry, Ruan Lingyu made up her mind and simply stopped giving Zhang Damin money.
Zhang Damin couldn't get the money, so he started to sue in Shanghai, making this matter known to everyone, deliberately smearing Ruan Lingyu. He also accused Tang Jishan of protecting Ruan Lingyu from stealing Zhang's things, which was equivalent to suing Tang Jishan together.
In order to protect his reputation, Tang Jishan forced Ruan Lingyu to issue a shameful statement to prove her innocence.

In fact, at this time, Tang Jishan was tired of Ruan Lingyu, and he hooked up with a woman named Liang Saizhen outside. After returning home, he often insulted and beat Ruan Lingyu, and he didn't care about Ruan Lingyu's feelings at all.
In this way, Ruan Lingyu also faces the situation of rogue entanglement, discredited reputation, and abandonment of her lover. In the end, Ruan Lingyu wrote a suicide note and swallowed thirty sleeping pills and committed suicide.
In fact, Tang Jishan has discovered it shortly after Ruan Lingyu took the medicine. But he went far and took Ruan Lingyu to a remote small clinic for treatment, thus missing the best time for treatment. This made Ruan Lingyu die in the end.
After Ruan Lingyu's death, Tang Jishan published two suicide notes. In his suicide note, Ruan Lingyu denounced Zhang Damin's unreasonable entanglement and expressed her regret for Tang Jishan. At the end of the suicide note, she wrote "People's words are terrifying" twice in succession.
But these two suicide notes have been suspected by the public since their publication.
Later, the Journal of Siming Business School published two suicide notes. In addition to denounced Zhang Damin, the content of the suicide note also accused Tang Jishan of being a "devil who plays with women", which is quite in line with Ruan Lingyu's mood. And an article attached to the suicide note shows that the two suicide note were provided by Liang Saizhen's sisters. The previous "fake suicide note" was written by Tang Jishan because she was afraid of being implicated and asked Liang Saizhen's sisters to write it. The two sisters were very dissatisfied with Tang Jishan's behavior, so they chose to make this matter public. After this incident, Tang Jishan's reputation plummeted. After moving to Taiwan later, Tang Jishan was defrauded of business and lost all her money, and she eventually had to declare bankruptcy. This may be the retribution of the scumbag.
