The International Air Transport Association (IATA) evaluated that Vietnam has been one of the most active aviation markets in the world in the past 10 years, with an average annual growth rate of operating income of 17.4%, twice the growth rate of Asian Airlines' operating income (7.9%).
According to data from the Vietnam Airlines Bureau, in 2018, the total transportation volume of Vietnam's national airlines and member companies reached more than 28 million passengers, accounting for 56% of the market share. YueJet Air 's transportation volume reached more than 21 million passengers, accounting for 44% of the market share.
According to the "Air Transportation Development Plan to 2020 and Vision 2030" approved by the Vietnamese government, the average annual growth rate of Vietnam Airlines market from 2015 to 2020 was 16% and 8% from 2020 to 2030.
In the second quarter of 2020, if Vinpearl Airlines joins the aviation market, Vietnam Airlines will have 6 airlines, including: Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airway, VASCO and Vinpearl Airlines AG.

In the domestic market of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines (including Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar) has a market share of 52.5%, while Vietnam Airlines has a market share of 41.2%. The airlines that have just entered the market since the beginning of this year account for 5.4%, while Vietnam Airlines Services accounted for 1.9%.
In the international market, domestic airlines account for about 57.8%. Among them, Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar accounted for 23.9%, while Vietnam Airlines accounted for 18.3%. Yuezhu has not yet operated international routes.
As of the end of September 2019, the number of domestic airlines reached 200 aircraft, a double increase compared with the 102 aircraft in August 2014.
Among them, Vietnam Airlines (including Vasco) has 98 aircraft, Jetstar has 18 aircraft, Yuejie has 70 aircraft, and Yuezhu has 10 aircraft.
In the first eight months of 2019, airline passenger transport volume reached 53.3 million, an increase of 11.5%. Among them, Vietnam Airlines' transportation volume was 37.3%, an increase of nearly 10% year-on-year.
Vietnam Airlines is operating 138 international routes and 50 domestic routes.
Among them, Vietnam Airlines is operating 60 international routes and 33 domestic routes, Jetstar Airlines is operating 13 international routes and 23 domestic routes, Vietnamese Jet is operating 96 international routes and 35 domestic routes, and Yuezhu has not yet operated international flights and is operating 22 domestic routes. Vasco operates 9 domestic routes.
