After getting the entry permit , I started a six-day free trip to Taiwan. During these six days, I walked from Taipei to the southernmost Kenting . The one that impressed me the most was Kenting, because it is so suitable for daydreaming and vacationing.

Kenting - the end of the world of Taiwan, located in Pingtung County, Taiwan Province, facing the Pacific Ocean in the east, the Taiwan Strait in the west, and the Bashi Strait in the south. From Taipei to Kenting, you have to take the Taipei high-speed rail for 2 hours to reach Zuoying Station in Kaohsiung , and then take the Kenting Express from Kaohsiung to Kenting. It takes about two hours to get to Kenting.

html In Kenting in November, the strong wind from the Pacific Ocean will make you think it is a typhoon coming again, because the wind is really strong in winter. Kenting is the off-season for tourism in winter, and there are not as many tourists in other seasons. The weather is often cloudy and sunny. As the sea breeze in the Pacific Ocean blows, the weather changes very quickly, and sometimes it suddenly changes from sunny to rainy days.

I originally planned to rent a car in Taipei and drive around the island. Later, I found out that the Chinese driver's license was not applicable in Taiwan, so the self-driving plan had to be cancelled.

There are two types of locomotives in Taiwan, one is electric locomotives and the other is what we call motorcycles. There are many car rental stores on Kenting Street . Since I don’t have a local driver’s license, my boss only rented me an electric motorcycle. Just like renting a car in Erhai Lake in Dali, the boss will introduce in detail the route of cycling and the precautions for cycling before departure.

Kenting coastal cycling mainly has two main routes: the West Line and the East Line.
West Line
starts from Kenting Street and drives in the west direction. Along the way, passes Nanwan , Houbi Lake, Baisha Bay, and finally arrives at Guanshan.

Nanwan is a holy place to play water. The undulating waves and clear sea water will make you unable to help stay and watch. Here you will see many people surfing.

Houbi Lake has the largest fishing port in Hengchun. From April to July every year, it is sailfish, umbrella fish, and ghost-headed knife. From October to March of the following year, the black-skinned swordfish and white-skinned fish are the most abundant. Whenever the fishing boat returns at dusk and unloads fresh fish, it can be seen that local people and tourists compete for seafood, and the scene is quite lively.

If the time is right, watching a Guanshan sunset here is the best choice.Guanshan Sunset was once selected as the most beautiful sunset in the world by international media CNN. But when I arrived at Guanshan, I happened to encounter rain. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the sunset here.

East Line
Starting from Kenting Street, driving along the east side, passing by Chuanfan Stone, Sand Island, Eluanbi Park, Longpan Park, and reaching Feng Shui Sand.
Boat Sail Stone is located between Kenting and Eluanbi, and is a giant coral reef rock rolling down from the nearby platform. Because it looks like a sail sailing into the harbor from a distance, it is named.

Sand Island is named after the accumulation of fine sand like an island. It is mainly formed by long-term sedimentation of shells, coral debris and foraminiferous insects. Since no streams nearby carry sand particles or impurities inflow, the content of shell sand is as high as more than 97%. When passing by this island, I found that it was protected from tourists and could only enjoy it from a distance. This beach is also the purest beach I have ever seen in Kenting.

In Eluanbi Park, you can see one of the southernmost landmarks in Taiwan - Eluanbi Lighthouse . More than a hundred years ago, because of the many reefs nearby, foreign ships easily hit the reefs. Under the strong request of the US and Japanese governments, the Qing government reluctantly built such a lighthouse.
At that time, there were still many indigenous people in Taiwan. In order to prevent invasion of indigenous people, the Qing government spent 200,000 taels of silver to arm the Eluanbi Lighthouse to its teeth, becoming a unique armed lighthouse in the world. After the Qing government left Taiwan, the prefect of Hengchun County secretly ordered the destruction of the lighthouse. The lighthouse I saw was later rebuilt by Japan during Taiwan's colonial period.

On the way from Eluanbi Park to Longkeng Ecological Reserve, there is a parking lot outside Eluanbi Park. You can reach the entrance to Taiwan's southernmost point by going down a small road.
