artist Gao Xiang In 2008, he received a doctorate in oil painting from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. His works not only have solid academic modeling skills, broad contemporary art vision and concepts, but also are in line with the traditional Chinese culture of and the spirit of aura. Mr. Gao Xiang is fascinated by the romantic expression of dreams. Myths, horses, galaxies, dolls, stages, etc. are the most representative images in his works. Through the description of these elements, his works are full of distant and poetic dreamy beauty.
In addition, he has participated in international exhibitions and local art projects in Europe and Asia for many years, and has conducted related academic research. He is an expert in the study of the famous Italian painter Giorgio Morandi. He has published works such as "Seen View of Space-Research on Giorgio Morandi's Painting", and has participated in and planned international contemporary exhibitions and art projects many times, which gives his works an inclusive artistic pattern and a global perspective.
This exhibition mainly presents the artist's handling of the three relationships of time, space and tradition in different media.
From a time perspective, the artist's works, especially the "Horse Tower" series, use colors with traditional Chinese culture and changes them to express the eternal flow of spring, summer, autumn and winter. It has the sensitivity of Chinese literati to the change of seasons and nature, and contains simple ecological ethical concepts.
From a spatial perspective, Mr. Gao Xiang's glass installation works are also mostly depicting the image of a horse. This transparent glass material overlaps with the painting pigments and has a special texture. The artist will place glass works of different feelings in an environment that matches them and echo them, such as ancient buildings, natural mountains and rivers, or public spaces such as art galleries, theaters, and cities.
Mr. Gao Xiang's works, especially the glass installation works, present the natural, ethereal artistic conception and cosmic consciousness contained in oriental culture. The Horse Tower series of works borrowed the image of horse sculptures in Chinese Han and Tang dynasties and the image of ancient towers to produce mysterious oriental feelings and cultural observations. On the basis of exploring the echo of works with time, space and tradition, this exhibition will study the visual art expression of the traditional Chinese artistic spirit in contemporary society.In addition, this exhibition is Mr. Gao Xiang’s first exhibition with glass installations in Kunming, and he pays special attention to the presentation of works in public spaces and the interaction between the public. To this day, contemporary art has been developing in various relationships with the real society, inspiring or raising some basic cultural issues. How to let art intervene in public space and have relationships with the public is a practical direction of contemporary art and one of the main contents of this exhibition.
As the curator of this exhibition, Mr. Wang Yehua wrote in the preface of the exhibition "Entering the Scenery and Dreams": "The exhibition "Married Dreams of Time and Space" is the most concentrated embodiment of Teacher Gao Xiang's installation art, and it also covers various categories such as oil painting, new ink painting, photography, silver decoration. Gao Xiang is a versatile player in artistic creation, and oil painting, ink painting, and installation art have all achieved great artistic achievements. This exhibition organically integrates installation art with the environment, and communicates with the scenes, producing a unique effect, which can be viewed from afar and savored. It is called: Gao Miaolingxiang. I hope to create a transformation between reality and dreams, the fusion of art and scenes, the encounter between the East and the West, and the communication between the works and the audience. This is a "The face of life is complex and changeable. Gao Xiang has been moving forward and exploring in the pursuit of art, maintaining his passion for life and creation, and continuing his persistence in ideals and future imagination in the way of art, realizing his persistent aesthetic sustenance."
