NVIDIA has released the brand new GeForce GTX 1660 Ti core after the Lunar New Year. It is said that it will be popular every time "6". As a streamlined Turing architecture, the GTX 1660 Ti is a product for the mainstream market, with a dessert card occupying the 2,000 yuan market. Naturally, many people pay attention to it. As a well-known graphics card manufacturer, EVGA naturally launched a number of GTX 1660 Ti graphics cards, from EVGA 1660 Ti Black to EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra, each with its own characteristics. Among them, the EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra graphics card is the most unique one. It is naturally different if it can be named XC Ultra. Then let's find out.
EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra appearance introduction:
From the product packaging, this time the EVGA graphics card is different from the horizontal packaging used by other manufacturers. This time, the EVGA adopts a vertical packaging. And it is much smaller in size. Compared with the current huge graphics card packaging, EVGA is unique. There are no additional graphics on the front of the packaging, only the appearance, model and series name of the graphics card.
, and the back of the packaging only has the graphics card features briefly introduced in six languages. I also promoted my own overclocking software Precision X1, but this software is still beta version now.
From the front, the EVGA GTX 1660 Ti adopts a symmetrical dual fan design, the overall use of black matte texture, and the middle part of the graphics card is supplemented by a black glossy design. The EVGA logo is just above the center, and the product chip model is below - this graphics card uses the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti core. The front appearance is distinctively angular against the backdrop of the lights.
This graphics card uses two fans with a diameter of 9 cm. The blades on these two fans are also very distinctive when looking at the details. If you look closer, you can see that the fan blades have the artistic word "E" of the EVGA logo. Such a fan design can reduce the thickness of the airflow retention layer, enhance airflow flow, and enhance heat dissipation.
From the top, you can see heat dissipation fin , with the words "EVGA | GEFORCE GTX 1660Ti" printed on the top, but these letters cannot glow.
pull the distance closer and you can see the single 8pin power supply interface. The thermal design power consumption of the public version of GTX 1660 Ti is only 120W, so the maximum power supply capacity provided by a single 8pin power supply and PCI-E interface has fully met the requirements.
There is another small detail on the top of the graphics card, which is that there is a yellow "XC" at the end of the radiator, which clearly shows the series in which this graphics card is located, which is more unique.
From the end of the graphics card, you can see three heat pipes are combined with the heat dissipation fins by welding. This method makes the bond between the heat pipe and the heat dissipation fins closer. Although the cost is higher, the heat dissipation effect is better.
PCI-E There is also a "EVGA" logo on the golden finger, indicating that this is a non-public version card.
Today, when back panels are popular, EVGA does not equip this graphics card with a graphics card back panel. However, you can also see from the back that the PCB length of this graphics card is actually not the real length of the graphics card, but is shorter. After measurement, the length of this graphics card is 26.4 cm, but the actual PCB length is only 19 cm, and the power supply interface is located at the end of the PCB instead of the end of the entire graphics card. Therefore, when installing this graphics card, you should pay attention to whether the space in the chassis can meet the installation of the graphics card.
In order to cover the extended heat dissipation fins, EVGA covers it with a plastic back panel
video interface , you can see that there are DisplayPort×1, HDMI×1, and DVI-D×1, which are currently commonly used interfaces. It can also be seen from here that this graphics card has a double slot thickness. It is worth noting that there are three small screws on the graphics card bezel. When disassembling the middle frame of the graphics card, you need to unscrew these three screws.
graphics card disassembly:
The entire disassembly process is quite easy, and a standard Phillips screwdriver can handle it.However, because there is a middle frame, a large area of thermally conductive silicon pad will stick the middle frame to the electronic components, so be careful when disassembling the middle frame and do not break the middle frame.
Remove the radiator and you can see a large area of pure copper base, and three heat pipes are flattened and connected to it. For the TU116 core, such heat dissipation has met the requirements.
After removing the heat sink, you can see that there is also a metal middle frame, thermal silicon pad covering MosFET, power supply and video memory , strengthening heat dissipation and ensuring that the electronic devices work in the appropriate temperature range.
After removing the middle frame, there is also a thermal silicon pad covering the electronic components of the graphics card. However, when removing the frame, you should pay attention to the three screws on the back plate of the video interface. Only after unscrewing the three screws can you remove them smoothly. On the front of
PCB, you can see that the EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra graphics card adopts a 6+2 phase power supply design, two of which are powered by the graphics memory. The six GDDR6 video memory is distributed around the core, with a total capacity of 6GB. The two video memory locations above the core have no soldered video memory. The TU116-400-A1 core is in a vertical package.

benchmark and overclocking performance test:
test platform We use Intel Core i7-8086K, paired with Asus ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming motherboard, the memory comes from Weigang's XPG Longyao series D80 memory, and two pieces are used to form a dual channel for a total of 16GB. The details are as follows:
According to GPU-Z, you can see that the basic frequency of this EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra graphics card core is 1500MHz and the Boost frequency is 1860MHz, that is, the frequency range is 1500MHz-1860MHz. Compared with the settings where the basic core frequency of the public version is 1500MHz and the Boost frequency is 1770MHz, the Boost frequency of the EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra is higher. The video memory is Micron GDDR6 particles, with an equivalent frequency of 12Gbps.
From the BIOS, you can see that TDP is locked by 160W, but due to the high setting, there is still overclocking space. The upper limit of temperature is 89 degrees Celsius, the default is 83 degrees Celsius, which can be adjusted between 65 degrees Celsius and 89 degrees Celsius.
According to convention, we all use 3DMark as the graphics card benchmark test, namely 3DMark FireStrike, FireStrike Extreme, FireStrike Ultra, TimeSpy and TimeSpy Extreme. The specific scores have been shown in the chart below, all of which are graphics card scores. During the test, the EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra can run at full load frequency, and the performance is satisfactory.
As a 2000-yuan dessert card with the same position as the previous generation NVIDIA Geforce GTX1060, as a comparison, in terms of specific scores, 3DMark FireStrike got a score of 16831, which is nearly 25% higher than the previous generation of dessert card GTX 1060's 12642 score. In the TimeSpy project, the GTX 1660 Ti has a larger lead compared to the GTX 1060, with a huge advantage.
Finally, through comparison, we can find that the performance of EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra has an average improvement of about 20%. The new Turing architecture has greatly enhanced the performance of DX12, so the performance improvement of TimeSpy and TimeSpy Extreme is even more obvious.
overclocking test:
NVIDIA's Boost frequency has been increased by 270MHz compared to the base frequency of 1500MHz, while the default Boost frequency of the EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra is even higher, reaching 1860MHz. However, the overclocking space of this generation of Turing architecture graphics card does not have much overclocking space, and this graphics card has exceeded the frequency in advance, with TDP locked at 160W, but even so, we still need to test its potential.
EVGA also has PRECISION X1 overclocking software. Open the voltage-frequency curve setting, scan and test its overclocking capability, and the final score is 90 points. However, this score is not intuitive. After turning on the GPU-Z, we found that its core Boost frequency reaches 1924MHz, which is 64MHz higher than the default frequency of this graphics card. However, the built-in OC SCANNER adjustment is relatively conservative, so I chose manual adjustment. Finally, after continuous testing, I finally achieved a core +116MHz and a video memory +1760MHz result. Finally, the Boost frequency is shown in GPU-Z to be 1976MHz and the equivalent frequency of video memory is 15Gbps. At this time, the EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra can complete all 3DMark tests.
PRECISION X1 comes with OC SCANNER test score is 90 points
After manual overclocking, TimeSpy score
From the final overclocking results, this EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra meets the overclocking level of Turing architecture graphics cards, and the average increase in the five tests of 3DMark was about 10%.
Temperature power consumption test:
Temperature test:
The box is sealed during the temperature test process. The test chassis is a fractal process R6 TG, and the indoor temperature in Guangzhou is 26 degrees Celsius. The standby temperature is 10 minutes after entering the system, and the full load temperature is 10 minutes for running the 3DMark FireStrike stress test. The temperature data is recorded through the GPU-Z Log to File function, and the following curve chart can more conveniently see the temperature conversion.
EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra's fan stops when standby, so by recording the standby temperature, you can see that this graphics card can still be maintained below 40 degrees Celsius, and the final stable temperature is 37 degrees Celsius. In terms of full load temperature, the core temperature of the graphics card finally stabilized at around 66 degrees Celsius during the test, far below its maximum temperature upper limit. Considering that the default Boost frequency of the EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra reaches 1860MHz, it is also very good to achieve such a result.
power consumption test:
is measured through our dedicated graphics card power testing instrument, and can accurately measure the power of graphics card PCI-E and external power supply. Run the 3DMark FireStrike stress test during the test. Standby and full load power are both recorded for 1 minute data. In terms of standby power consumption, it can be seen through the curve that maintains at around 11W. Compared with the full load power consumption of about 122W of the public version, the power of about 130W is also relatively high. The reason is that the default Boost frequency of the EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra reaches 1860MHz, and the core voltage reaches 1.0310V during full load operation. Moreover, during the test, the fan speed was only 1159 rpm, and it was not obvious to listen carefully to the noise during the box sealing test, and the strength of dual fans to dissipate heat was highlighted.
Summary:
has been disassembled through a series of tests, and it can be seen that this EVGA has delivered a good answer for the 2,000 yuan level. I did some homework in some places that ordinary consumers couldn't see. The power supply and heat dissipation performance are commendable, and even at full load, the temperature and noise performance are satisfactory. As for overclocking, although I was worried about its overclocking capability before overclocking, I still achieved the expected goal after adjustment. Excellent among a number of graphics cards that use the GTX 1660Ti core.
Although there is no RGB lighting and no back panel, it is undeniable that its workmanship is still excellent and the materials are sufficient. It also has sufficient recognition in appearance. And together, you can see that the EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra is like a low-key but extraordinary master. EVGA, which is $310 in the United States, is equivalent to about 2,100 yuan, is quite competitive even after reaching the country. If there are any performance requirements, this EVGA 1660 Ti XC Ultra is sure to meet your requirements.
