Speaking of Japan’s Kagawa Prefecture , most people who often travel to Japan have never heard of it. But if you mention Yayoi Kusama , (that is, the polka-dot grandma, the polka-dot big pumpkin), I think a large number of people may know her works.

Yes, her famous art work The Pumpkin at the End of the Universe is on Naoshima, and Naoshima belongs to Kagawa Prefecture. Of course, having never been to Kagawa, I had the impression that this place was only Naoshima; but after going to Kagawa, I discovered that there are not only Naoshima, but also Shodoshima, Ogijima, Megijima, and Takamatsu City. , Sanfeng City...

Each island brings together different works of art. The pumpkin at the end of the universe has become a small star in the vast art universe; the artistic energy emitted by each island collides with each other, creating sparks of passion. , which prompted the holding of the Setouchi Art Exhibition. This art exhibition also attracts art lovers from all over the world, and various restaurants, food, and hotels have also flourished.

Japan’s Kagawa Prefecture is like a rising new landmark, attracting more and more people. I think that in the near future, more and more Chinese people will no longer just go to Tokyo Tower to check in, and they will no longer just go to drug stores to shop. They will also find a quiet island in the world to enjoy their own travel world.

There are direct flights from Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan to Kagawa, and it is the Takamatsu airport flying to Kagawa. We were flying from Beijing and had to transfer in Tokyo. At first I thought it was just a transit point for planes, but I didn’t expect that there are a lot of things to eat and do. Because it is also close to the sea, there are various restaurants built along the sea, which also have a unique style.

Takamatsu: You must go to the Michelin three-star park, Ritsurin Park

I only knew that there were three-star Michelin restaurants in the past, but I didn’t expect that there was also a Michelin Green Guide. Don't underestimate this park. In the "Michelin Green Guide Japan", Ritsurin Park was rated three stars, the pine trees and Segetsu Pavilion in the park were rated two stars, and Yanyue Bridge and Feilai Peak were rated one. stars, so Ritsurin Park received a total of nine stars. . .

As soon as I entered the park, I was really shocked by the huge pine trees lined up in a row. Although the park's name is "Ritsurin," its courtyard is actually made up of pine trees. There are about 1,400 pine trees in the park, of which about 1,000 were pruned by craftsmen for about 300 years. Mom said that a small potted pine tree like this costs tens of thousands in China, but there are so many here.

It takes almost an hour to sit from Takamatsu Station to Kannonji Station. We are going to Mitoyo City, which is not far from Takamatsu. It is famous for the "Mirror of the Sky" Momohama and Shiundezan. If you have time, you can also go to Mitoyo. The city goes around.

Kannonji City: Torii in the sky , Takaya Shrine

There are many unique torii gates throughout Japan. The Takaya Shrine in Kagawa Prefecture can be regarded as a hidden itinerary. The legendary torii gate is connected to the divine realm where the gods live. The path to the secular world where humans live is one of the "boundaries", full of mystery. It takes forty minutes to walk from the foot of the mountain to the shrine, which is a test of leg strength, stamina and endurance. But we came up by car and climbed for almost 10 minutes, and we were already tired and out of breath. From the top of the mountain, you can see the beautiful view of the intersection of the urban area and the Soto Inland Sea. It is definitely worth walking for any length of time, whether in the morning or at sunset! However, it rained when we went that day and the weather was a bit cloudy. I heard that Takaya Shrine will have beautiful red leaves in autumn. Takaya Shrine also has different atmospheres at dusk and night. You can choose a suitable photo time to go there. Address: 768-0002 2800 Takaya-cho, Kannonji City, Kagawa Prefecture Transportation: It takes about 13 minutes by taxi from JR Kannonji Station (about 4km)

Mitoyo City: a great place to enjoy flowers and scenery, Shiyunchu Mountain

In fact The best time to visit Ziyun Mountain is when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom in spring. This is one of the "15 Best Views for Cherry Blossom Viewing in Japan" selected by Yahoo Japan. It is also the number one cherry blossom viewing spot in Shikoku.

Listening to the boatman's explanation, leisurely walking around the pond and admiring the surrounding scenery is a unique experience. Boat service: 610 yen/adult

This store is a Teppanyaki restaurant. Because it is newly opened, it cannot be found on Dianping.com. Be sure to make a reservation in advance. There are only a few tables and only one chef. It is difficult to get a seat if you go there at last minute.

The legend of Urashima Taro has been circulating on the Shonai Peninsula where Shiunodezan is located since ancient times. According to legend, when Taro Urashima opened the box he brought back from Ryugu, a puff of white smoke turned him into a gray-haired old man, and the white smoke turned into purple mist clouds that lingered on the top of the mountain. Therefore, this mythical name was left behind. There are about 1,000 cherry blossom trees on the top of the mountain in full bloom in Ziyunchu Mountain. Starting with the Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms, the mountain cherry blossoms, sunshine cherry blossoms, and others bloom in brilliant colors one after another on the top of the mountain. However, there are also flowers to see in summer, with acres of purple and blue hydrangeas replacing the cherry blossoms, adding a unique charm.

From the parking lot at the top of the mountain, walk along the trail to the observatory, and a breathtaking panorama unfolds before your eyes. The scenery of the Soto Inland Sea is known as the "beauty of many islands". The beautiful colors of the sea and the sky interweave in layers, echoing with the islands scattered on the sea level like stars, weaving together this beautiful scenery given by God. When the weather is clear, you can even see Shodoshima and China. But when the weather is overcast, it feels different. Address: 451-1 1

Mitoyo City: Japan's Sky Mirror, Momohama

The ultimate destination of my travels is Bolivia. This place really fulfilled my dream of being a sky mirror. In fact, the parents' beach is a 1 kilometer long beach coastline. Whenever the tide goes out, if there is no wind and the water has no wrinkles, the sky is reflected on the wet lake, a mirror-like scene, and the coastline will appear as beautiful as a mirror in the sky. view. At night, an even more beautiful scene spreads, and the beautiful sunset was selected as "Japan's 100 Best Sunsets". The attentive Japanese also provided us with shooting methods. The best time to watch

: 6.1-6.31 at about 19:18, which is actually close to sunset. At that time, the reflection in the sunset is the clearest and the water is just at low tide. Unfortunately, it was rainy and windy all day long. We finally waited until the wind subsided and did not see the scene of burning clouds. But it doesn’t matter, you can still capture the feeling of a mirror in the sky. Remember to bring some small materials for shooting. Our umbrella that day became the best prop for our shooting. Mitoyo Restaurant Recommendation: Miyoshi udon noodles that you must eat here

Speaking of the representative food of Kagawa Prefecture, it has to be udon noodles. Belongs. Soy sauce udon, vegetarian udon, egg udon, cold udon, noodle soup, curry udon... No wonder Kagawa Prefecture is also called Udon Prefecture. Therefore, a must-experience experience in Kagawa is to eat a bowl of authentic udon noodles.

The more humble the store, the more delicious the food. This Miyoshi Udon restaurant has been featured in magazines many times. What is worth trying is the chicken nugget udon, which also includes egg udon, tempura udon, etc. If you have the chance, you can try them all.

Sanfeng Restaurant Recommendation: Chainon

This restaurant really surprised me. Unexpectedly, there is such an atmospheric restaurant hidden in the small city of Sanfeng. This restaurant is actually mainly used for weddings. As soon as you enter the restaurant door, you feel like you are entering a wedding venue.

The restaurant where we ate was full of surprises. All places were carefully decorated by the staff, and each place had its own meaning. Mitoyo City's Nimi Town is surrounded by mountains and sea. So in this small town, there are many unknown charms. The theme of our meal is to present its history and culture through cuisine and feel the power of nature.

What’s even more surprising is that after taking a seat, the curtain behind you slowly opens, and the scenery of the Seto Inland Sea comes into view. Let us accompany the beautiful scenery and enjoy this delicious meal between the mountains and the sea.

Wine list, I ordered Japanese wine

I didn’t expect that the first course was two glasses of water. Feel it, what would it feel like if you were lost in a small town? The first is the ocean in front of us, and we can also feel the mountains surrounding us. Therefore, these two glasses of water are water from the sea and the mountains. Close your eyes and taste it carefully. The water from the sea on the right does have a slight salty taste. On the left is the fresh mountain spring, which is really creative.

The upper left corner is the second course, the cuisine of traveling life. There are some seafood placed on the table, including conch, crab meat, raw chicken, etc. There is life in this city, people, animals, fish, plants... all have a meaning of survival. In order to feel the meaning of life surviving in this place, it is a dish that you should eat during your lifetime. In the upper right corner is a live shrimp. Squeeze lemon juice onto the shrimp. The live shrimp jumps up when stimulated. It's a bit cruel. . The lower right corner is the fifth course, and the mirror on the water (I don’t know why bread is on the fifth course) is two pieces of bread and olive oil. This represents the parents' beach. Decades ago, when you arrived at the distant parents' beach, can you boast about your figure reflected on the water? Who do you want to be?

The lower left corner is called Takashima, which is an island in Nishima. It is a delicacy composed of scallops and fish. Looking into the distance, what I see to the west are small islands of small islands. It looks like a couple and gentle birds cuddling together, encouraging each other and protecting each other. The two islands together form an uninhabited island called Thorn Island.

This is the third dish, "The Mountain where the Seven Treasures Sleep". It is a dish made of 7 kinds of ingredients into treasures. What you can see while walking in Nio is a hill called "Shippo Mountain". It is said that there was a legend that the master of Buddhism buried seven treasures here.

The above two dishes were given as a surprise by the hotel to a couple among us for their tenth wedding anniversary. In the lower left corner is the seventh course steak called "The Art of Appearing on the Beach." After staying at the beach for a while, something called "sand pattern" will appear. Because of the flow of the tide, it is a beautiful pattern floating on the beach at low tide. It's like nature is leaving a powerful message to us. In the lower right corner is dessert, which is also the last dish, and the name is "For a Limited Time". It's about Ziyun coming out of the mountain. While walking in the town, I accidentally looked up at the way home, and what caught my eye was Shiundezan who left the anecdote about Taro Urashima. When Taro Urashima opened the Tamate Box, the white smoke that came out turned into purple clouds. We cannot forget that the time given is wonderful.

experienced for the first time a dinner that integrated thoughts about life and nature with delicious food. What a magical and philosophical meal. Integrate the scenery you visited that day into the dishes to make people think. Simply the best creative cuisine I've ever had.

About the Setouchi International Art Festival

I think that in the heart of every artist, there is a plot of a Setouchi artist. The Seto Inland Sea has gradually lost its previous vitality due to the low birth rate and serious aging population. In order to revitalize the vitality of this land, Japanese artists have joined hands to use their own creations and art to set off a "restoration of the sea" here. This art festival has been prepared for three years by more than 100 Japanese art masters. It is an art event that has attracted much attention around the world. It is only held every three years and this year marks its fourth edition. This edition conveys the mystery and agility of this sea area and its unique charm. If you need your own bicycle or car when moving around the island, in addition to purchasing passenger ferry tickets, you also need to purchase ferry tickets for your own means of transportation.

Originally we were going to Shodoshima, Naoshima, Ogijima and Megijima this time, but we encountered heavy rain on Shodoshima and the fast boat could not operate, so we canceled the trip to Ogijima. But it doesn’t matter, just leave some regrets and come back next time. Let’s take a look at some of the art works on each island~ You can see one after just two steps.

Liminal Air -core-, Takamatsu Port's work by Shinji Ohmaki, is two 8-meter-high pillars located in Takamatsu Port. Part of the colorful column is a mirror that reflects the surrounding scenery such as the port, sea, and buildings. It displays various colors depending on the viewing position, time zone, and situation. That is to say, while visualizing the environment of Takamatsu, the figure of the viewer is clearly reflected.

Takamatsu Port Lin Shuen Long's work: Beyond borders and seas, the "seed ship" that sailed from Taiwan to Toshima and back to Taiwan during the last art festival will arrive at Takamatsu Port this time. The seed boat is newly assembled with the theme of seed drifting.

Wang Wenzhi's work on Shodoshima: Love on Shodoshima.

Naoshima Sejima Kazuyo + Nishizawa Ryue’s work: Naoshima Port Terminal is the waiting room of the passenger ship and has become a new symbol of Honmura Port. It is a building made of 13 translucent FRP spheres with a diameter of 4 meters. It has a waiting area, a bicycle parking area, and a restroom. During the day, the outside sunlight shines through, and at night, the lighting is used to exude a fantasy atmosphere.

Shodoshima: Kiki's Delivery Service filming location, Olive Park

You can reach Shodoshima by boat from Takamatsu in just over an hour. There are a lot of things to play here. Among them, the classic animation "Kiki's Delivery Service" was made into a live-action movie in 2014. The protagonist Kiki practices flying in the seaside town of Creek. The real-life filming location is Shodoshima. The Windmill Cottage has become a holy place for movie fans. Everyone who goes there must learn how to fly on the beach like Qiqi~

We came here early before 9 o'clock in the morning, because the broom for taking pictures is free, so we have to fly it quickly when no one is around, otherwise The broom was also taken away, and there were people everywhere so there was no way to take pictures. It also shows you how to take photos.

Because the scenery resembles the Aegean Sea, Shodoshima formed an alliance with Miklos Island, which is known as the closest to paradise, and became a "sister island". The commemorative white windmill has since become the symbol of the island. Therefore, taking a photo of the witch flying while riding a broomstick is one of the must-do experiences here.

This cabin is also one of the places where the movie was filmed.

The buildings in the park are modeled after the ancient Greek style, and there are nearly 2,000 olive trees of 20 different species planted around it, in order to completely create a Mediterranean style.

Another must-experience is to find your own heart-shaped olive leaf on the olive tree! In fact, Shodoshima is the birthplace of domestic olive cultivation, with the highest output in Japan. There are more than 20 estates on the island. It is said that even the Chinese character for "adzuki bean" on the island does not mean red bean, but means olive. It can be seen that It is a true symbol of Shodoshima.

can also make bookmarks of your choice for the heart-shaped olive leaves you find. Choose your favorite cover, write a blessing to yourself, press it with a machine, and a unique and meaningful bookmark is ready!

You can buy many souvenirs worth buying at the souvenir shop in the Olive Garden. In addition to olive cosmetics and hand cream, asparagus noodles are also one of the souvenirs worth buying. Boil it in water for 2 minutes and it will be cooked without breaking. It is especially suitable for office workers who are pressed for time.

Shodoshima: A beautiful sight that can only be encountered twice a day, the Angel's Road

As the second largest Shodoshima in the Soto Inland Sea, in addition to well-known attractions such as the olive grove, there is a particularly pleasantly named "Angel's Road" , also known as the "Angel Walk". This is a pilgrimage place for lovers. There is a romantic legend here. If you walk hand in hand with your loved one through the sand embankment, you can realize your dreams.

Angel Road is actually a very interesting tidal landscape, which is a surprise given to us by nature. Whenever the tide goes out, the road leading to the small island in the sea will appear. At this time, you can walk to the small island in the center of the sea by walking on the Angel Road with sea water on both sides. If you want to see it, you can check the daily dry tide time in the hotel, on the official website, or in the lounge beside the pier. There are dry and wet periods twice a day, which means there are only two periods when you can see it. Once the tide comes in, it disappears.

The observatory is up the stairs next to the beach. It is the most beautiful vantage point to take pictures of the entire Angel Road. Many couples leave handwritten prayers and blessings here. You can overlook the entire road, and you can also ring the bell to pray for yourself and others!

Artworks on Shodoshima

Wang Wenzhi’s work: Love in Shodoshima. Starting from the first art festival, Mr. Wang Wenzhi, who created a huge dome work using a large number of bamboos, has been communicating with local residents for 10 years. . For the writer, the Zhongshan area is like his second hometown. This work was built with gratitude to the local residents.

's work is set in a green rice field. Wang Wenzhi himself is a child from the fields in Taiwan. He grew up in a bamboo forest in Chiayi. He hopes that the work can stop time and allow people to hear their own heartbeat. From the first Shodoshima House, the second Shodoshima Light, the third Olive Dream, to this time Shodoshima Love; I like to use bamboo as a creative material, and most of it is woven by hand. You can see his love for this land.

's work imitates the shape of the hills, adds natural materials, and blends in with the surrounding farmland, making it unique but not inconsistent. It happened that there were not many tourists at the time we went, so it was so quiet that we could only hear the creaking of the bamboos as we walked around. Wang Wenzhi made full use of the light and transparent temperament of bamboo, allowing this bamboo building to penetrate into the environment, creating a very dynamic rural melody. Lying on the bamboo and looking at the bamboo top, it feels like I have returned to the mat at my grandmother's house when I was a child, enjoying the quiet countryside breeze.

Chinese artist Xiang Yang’s work: The Shore Where We Can Reach-Xiang Yang Art Sailing Proposal, an outdoor work made of abandoned ancient fishing boats and furniture. At the same time, drawings, images, materials, and navigation models are displayed in two warehouses. In addition, there are lighthouses and 27-meter-long ships around it. Both of these works are intended to be parts of a planned sailing project [ship] written by Xiang Yang. The 2-meter-long boat is expected to be exhibited after the summer session.

Here, even the public toilet is a work of art.

Shimizu Hisakazu’s work: Olive Airplane Head. There are three-dimensional works with airplane hair style that look like olives in the olive garden. In fact, this is an unmanned vending stall, and vegetables and fruits can be placed in the recessed area in the middle.

This enthusiastic old man is the owner of this olive grove. He also brought a wig with the same hairstyle as this art work and taught us how to take pictures.

Shodoshima Food Recommendation: pizza Kamos

A very famous pizza shop on Shodoshima. All pizzas are hand-rolled and baked. There is a lot of cheese and there are only five flavors of pizza in the store. We ordered four of them, the most popular ones. It's the ham with an egg in the middle. The last one is pizza mixed with honey, usually served as dessert after a meal.

The most luxurious hotel on Shodoshima: Olivean Resort

Resort Hotel Shodoshima is not big, but Olivean Hotel is the most luxurious hotel on Shodoshima. It is also the Japanese hotel with slightly larger rooms that I have stayed in. There are swimming pools, tennis courts, etc. on the seaside outside the hotel, as well as hot springs. There are rooms specially provided for families with pets, which is very considerate.

This suite is slightly larger and makes me feel like I am in Thailand. Why is it called a suite? In fact, there are two folding beds on the wall of the room, which can be put down to sleep two more people. It is very suitable for families with children.

If the weather is bad and you can't swim outside, it doesn't matter. The hot springs are open until 1 a.m. and are divided into indoor and outdoor areas. You can also see the sea from the outside. It is like a resort.

A room specially designed for people with pets.

Hotel address: 63-1, Yakatazaki, Tonosho-cho, Shozu-gun, Tosho Town, Kagawa Prefecture, 761-4142, Japan

Price: about 1,300 RMB/night

Naoshima: I finally saw the works of Yayoi Kusama

In fact, I originally planned to take a sea taxi boat directly from Shozushima to Naoshima Island, but we encountered bad weather that day and our boat was unable to operate. We can only return to Takamatsu from Shodoshima first, and then take the ferry from Takamatsu to Naoshima. The boat going to Naoshima is very obvious, and the logo is similar to the classic dots on Yayoi Kusama's works.

When the ferry approached the pier, the huge red pumpkin first came into view. Kusama claimed that "it was the 'red light' of the sun that was searched for at the end of the universe and turned into a red pumpkin in the Naoshima Sea."

Let's talk about how the artist Yayoi Kusama became popular in China overnight. , then it is probably a joint collaboration with LV. . After it became popular, it was exhibited at the Shanghai Contemporary Art Exhibition, and the artist's works slowly came into the public eye. Including the polka dot pumpkins on Naoshima. Yayoi Kusama says she is just a mentally ill artist. She makes good use of high-color contrasting polka dot patterns and mirrors to cover the surfaces of various objects, such as walls, floors, canvases, and objects that appear in the home (as well as naked assistants). She once explained that these visual features came from her hallucinations. She believed that these dots formed an infinite catching net and represented her life.

Before going to Naoshima, Sou Fujimoto’s work: Naoshima Pavilion came into view. Following the "Umi Station (Naoshima)" and "Red Pumpkin", a new landmark has been set up around Miyaura Port, the gateway to the sea on Naoshima. The concept of building a "28th island" on Naoshima, which consists of 27 islands, was proposed to create a "floating island scene" floating on the sea like a mirage, showing its light and floating morphological characteristics.

This landmark building has a different look at night, like a bright pearl in the night sky.

Naoshima is very small, so it would be more interesting to rent a bicycle to explore the island.

Walking around the streets, cafes, bars, restaurants, bathhouses... you will find many interesting shops and small works of art. Yes, you can understand that the entire island of Naoshima is an art island.

Noburo Otake's work: Naoshima Bath I❤ soup (I Love YU), this is actually a bathing place and the only bathhouse on the island. It was built not only as a source of vitality for the town residents, but also as a place for communication with domestic and foreign tourists. An art facility where you can take a bath sounds really cool.

Lunch at any set-dining restaurant is delicious! ~

Although I didn’t see the yellow pumpkin due to time constraints, don’t forget to go to the souvenir shop to buy some Yayoi Kusama peripherals to take home. You can only buy them on Naoshima!

Megijima: The lovely ghost island

From the moment we boarded the boat on Megijima, there were pieces of art dangling before our eyes. Artwork from

deck. A cloud of clouds

Megishima is also called Onigashima, mainly because of its particularly famous attraction, Onigashima Cave. I shivered when I heard it. It wasn't until I saw the first ghost looking at me with a smile that I relaxed. This "ghost" is too cute!

This is Kimura Takato’s work: Seagull’s Parking Lot. When the ferry approaches Megi Port, about 300 seagulls can be seen neatly arranged on the breakwater. Like real seagulls, these works change direction together when the wind blows, visualizing the flow of the wind and the behavior of seagull groups. Seagulls line several jetties. In the last art festival, a new tidal wall supervised by Mr. Kimura’s exterior design was also launched.

Why does this little sculpture look so much like it came to Chile?

came to an art exhibition in a school. Because Megijima is small and has a small population and fewer children, the school on the island has also been closed. The artists don’t want the school to remain empty, so they It was converted into an exhibition hall.

Noburo Otake's work: Female Roots / MECON. The large coconuts growing on the island stand on the buoy like an artificial satellite, surrounded by elegant mosaic tiles, crocodile models, boat materials, etc. The primary school building, plants and works that are out of school are integrated and complement each other. This work was exhibited at the last art festival, and elements of the work were added to cater for the festival. This time, Dazhu style elements were added near the entrance of the school building.

Yoichiro Yoda's work: ISLAND THEATER MEGI "Megijima Famous Painting Seat". Utilizing a warehouse that is no longer in use, we present an installation art that combines theater-like paintings and videos. The auditorium area is divided into separate seats painted by the author himself. Photos and paintings of movie stars are displayed in the lounge, which condenses the memory of the old theater in Manhattan.

"Small shop on the island" project: for example, barber shop. It brings convenience to people living on the island and is full of charm to people visiting the art festival - artists will plan and produce such unique attractions. Become a practical [small shop] theme park.

Hara Rintaro + Hara Yu’s work: Little Shops on the Island Ping-Pong Sea. The House of the Sea has been transformed into a table tennis court where anyone can play. In the lobby of the building that was formerly a B&B, a sea table tennis theme park was opened. Anyone can play table tennis freely. There is also a huge table tennis table and original table tennis table that everyone can play on. There is also a 9-person table. The ping pong balls fall on templates of different colors and make different sounds.

This work has been seen in magazines, it is Leandro Erlich's work Little Shops on the Island Laundry. The image and the real washing machine and dryer coexist in illusion and reality. As part of the island shop project, the intriguing coin-operated laundry room space is displayed. On one side is a display showing clothes spinning, and on the other is a real washing machine and dryer. Fiction and reality coexist in the same space, leaving the viewer slightly confused. You can experience the work while doing laundry.

A cat holding a fish on the island.

Due to time constraints, there are still many works that I have not read, so regret becomes the reason to come back next time. I believe that people who love art will never regret coming here. This will be your source of creative inspiration and a new world of art.
