In the new year, enterprises in Xiamen and Taiwan have made new arrangements in terms of transformation and upgrading, market expansion and other aspects. Wu Jiaying, president of the Xiamen Taiwanese Business Association, revealed that the association will organize more than 170 Taiwanese companies in Xiamen to go to Taiwan to recruit talents after the Spring Festival, and plans to provide 2,200 positions covering multiple industries such as high-tech manufacturing, logistics, and services.
On February 14, Wu Jiaying led a delegation to Kaohsiung and met with Kaohsiung Mayor Han Guoyu to discuss issues of industrial exchanges and talent recruitment between Xiamen and Kaohsiung. "We plan to go to Kaohsiung for recruitment as the first stop, and everyone responded enthusiastically. We also hope to invite Han Guoyu to visit Xiamen to further promote the relevant plans of Xiamen Port and Kaohsiung Port to hold industry forums to promote the economy and trade between the two cities. Exchanges can also build a platform for cooperation and exchanges between enterprises on both sides of the Taiwan Strait," Wu Jiaying said.
Currently, the Xiamen Taiwanese Business Association is cooperating with Taiwan’s 1111 Job Bank to connect more than 170 Taiwanese companies in Xiamen with specific matters regarding holding job fairs in Taiwan after the Spring Festival. Wu Jiaying said that many Taiwanese businessmen choose Xiamen as their first stop for employment and entrepreneurship in the mainland because of its geographical advantages and similar living habits. "Kaohsiung was chosen as the first stop for talent recruitment this time, mainly because of the high unemployment rate in southern Taiwan. Many young Taiwanese are facing the problem of finding a job. The development of Taiwanese enterprises in Xiamen also requires a large number of talents, which is complementary."
Wu Jiaying believes that the mainland has successively launched a number of valuable and down-to-earth measures to benefit Taiwan, and it is "just the right time" for Taiwanese youth to find employment and start businesses in the mainland. The Xiamen Taiwanese Business Association will actively cooperate with relevant departments in Xiamen to provide supporting services for Taiwanese talents after they land.
In April 2018, on the basis of taking the lead in implementing the central government's "31 Measures" to benefit Taiwan, Xiamen City launched the "60 Measures to Benefit Taiwan" to provide Taiwanese compatriots with the same treatment as Xiamen residents in studying, starting a business, employment, and living in Xiamen. Xiamen currently has about 120,000 Taiwanese residents, including 23,000 Taiwanese employees, 2,400 Taiwanese students, and more than 2,000 Taiwanese high-skilled talents; the city has cumulatively selected Taiwanese specially-appointed experts (professionals) as leaders in the "Double Hundred Plan" talents There are nearly a thousand talents.
