Southern Taiwan New Year Focus "2022 Pingtung Lantern Festival" has been officially lit up in Pingtung County People's Park. The Pingtung Lantern Festival, which has been held for 5 years, has been upgraded to version 2.0 this year. In addition to the Wannian Creek Lantern District, there are also the most popular county parks and Victory Star Village. In the creative life park, the three major lighting areas present the themes of "Sugar", "Taste of the Year" and "Home" respectively. A total of 48 lighting fixtures combine Pingtung's past industries, history and humanistic warmth to create Wannian Creek's "River of Light" It has turned into a "Feast of Light" for the whole city, and the event lasts until February 28, giving people a new choice of entertainment during the Spring Festival.

The County Citizens’ Park, which has won 12 international awards, was formerly an old pulp mill. Through light art intertwined with historical textures, we witness the transformation of the pulp mill and look back at Pingtung’s “sugar” "the glorious glory of the capital". Among the 14 lighting fixtures in the lighting area, there is the 10-meter-high main light "Origami Flower", which uses mechanical dynamics and origami art to show the opening and closing of flowers; the "Time Spiral" uses bamboo weaving to show the appearance of sugarcane's vascular bundles and cell walls under a microscope. There are also works related to the sugar industry such as "Candy and Candy Paper", "HOME", and "Chasing the Light".
