China Taiwan Network reported on July 15 that according to Taiwan's "China Times News Network", the Democratic Progressive Party's Taoyuan mayor candidate Lin Zhijian was deeply involved in a plagiarism controversy, which caused the election campaign to receive special attention. A latest online poll shows that Kuomintang candidate Zhang Shanzheng won 69.4% of the votes, with Dasheng Lin at 17.6% and People's Party candidate Lai Xiangling at 6.5%. The gap is quite wide. This result aroused heated debate, with many netizens saying it was "not unexpected" and believed that the "essay scandal" might bring down Lin Zhijian's election.

"Yahoo News" launched an online voting on the 13th for "Who do you think will be elected mayor of Taoyuan?". As of 8 a.m. today (15th), more than 13,400 people have voted. Zhang Shanzheng ranked first with 69.4%, followed by Lin Zhijian with only 17.6%, and Lai Xiangling at the bottom with 6.5%, with 6.5% not knowing/no opinion.

The poll also conducted a survey on "Taoyuan mayor candidates are all controversial about parachute. When you vote, will you take locality into consideration?", 29.3% said "probably not" and "maybe" 23.0% said yes, 22.3% said "definitely not", 17.2% said "definitely yes", and 8.2% said "don't know/have no opinion".
