According to Taiwan's "China Times News Network", the Penghu County Government Fire Department received a notification from the police station at 03:51 on April 20 that a suspected fire broke out on the sea near the berth of the Taiwanese ferry in Magong Port. There was a body floating on the waterway in the port area, floating on the sea, and it was required to send personnel to rescue. At 06:52, we arrived at the shore of Sidetian Island and carried the body ashore using a long backboard. Preliminary visual inspection suggests that the deceased was a middle-aged man who had just fallen into the water.
The Fire Department dispatched the First Brigade and the Magong Brigade with 4 vehicles, 1 boat and 8 people to the rescue. Deputy Brigade Captain Chen Yongchun directed the rescue at the scene. The Magong Port Fire Brigade, the 13th Patrol District and other units also joined the search and rescue mission. After the service personnel arrived at the scene, they reported that the general location was no longer visible on the sea, so the Magong team sent a lifeboat into the water for search and rescue.
Until 06:12 in the morning, the lifeboat of the Magong team was found on the shore of Sidetian Island. Due to the shallow water level nearby, it was difficult for the lifeboat to approach. The fire department immediately contacted the navy garrison unit to guide the rescuers and vehicles into the control area. The identity of the drowned person, the cause of death and subsequent handling will be handed over to the Magong Branch of the Police Department and shore patrol personnel for follow-up processing.
