Mr. Li Yiyuan
At 19:00 on April 18, 2017, Mr. Li Yiyuan, a famous anthropologist and academician of Taiwan's "Academia Sinica", passed away at the Affiliated Hospital of Taipei Medical College at the age of 86.
Li Yiyuan was born in Quanzhou, Fujian in 1931. Went to Taiwan in 1948. He graduated from National Taiwan University in 1953 and received a master's degree from Harvard University in 1960. In 1984, he was elected as an academician of Academia Sinica. He served as researcher (1967.8-1998.7) and director (1970.11-1976.10) of the Institute of Ethnology of Academia Sinica, and founding dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Tsinghua University in Hsinchu (1984.8-1990.7). Mainly engaged in cultural anthropology , symbolic anthropology, religious behavior, and overseas Chinese research. He is the author of "Culture and Behavior", "Belief and Culture", " Anthropology and Modern Society", "Images of Culture (Volume 1 and 2)", "Field Images - My Anthropology Career", "Li Yiyuan's Selected Works", "Talk about Culture, Talking about Religion - An Anthropological Perspective" etc.
