During the Zhengde period of the Ming Dynasty , there was a Jade Emperor Temple in the lower reaches between the Sheshui River and the Mawei River in Mianzhu County (now part of Group 4 of Fancun Village, Xinshi Town). The Taoist temple is not large in scale, but it can still satisfy people's wish to pray for God's blessings to ensure a good harvest and prosperous livestock.
Jade Emperor Temple
Due to the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty, due to successive years of war, Sichuan was devastated by famine and the population dropped sharply. No one paid attention to this temple, and it gradually declined. Only the Jade Emperor Tower and some ruined walls remain. HuguangAfter immigrants filled Sichuan, the area regained its vitality, and the dilapidated Jade Emperor Tower still stands on the Tianba. Every evening, thick smoke will rise from the Sutra Pavilion of the Jade Emperor Tower, swirling on the roof, carrying a fishy smell. Slowly, the turbid air will sink, and wisps of fresh air will rise to the sky.
Weasel
In the Taoist temple overgrown with weeds, people will often see a weasel with golden fur and smooth water. This weasel darts in and out of the farmer's pen, neither stealing chickens nor touching ducks, but also helps the farmer drive lost chickens and ducks back into the pen. It likes to catch some fried cats and chickens in the wild, go to the fields to catch some frogs , and toads, and go up the trees to swoop at some birds and other things and bring them back to the attic. In addition, groups of white cranes are flying above the Jade Emperor Tower with various flowers and fruits in their mouths. They dance skillfully and gracefully. After dancing, they place the flowers and fruits in an orderly manner on the roof or platform.
White Crane
What is even stranger is that an old man on Wa'e Road is often seen in Yuhuang Temple. This old man has pecks on the front and back of his head, his eyes are bulging, his mouth is deflated, his nose is so big that it almost covers his mouth, and his chin is stretched out. It's as long as it is, and there are two scarves on its head, which are both weird and fairy-like. The old man holds a dragon-headed walking stick in his right hand and holds a bamboo pole in his left hand, which contains something vaguely like eels, loaches, fish, clams, shrimps, crabs, etc. If you see him walking ahead and want to catch up and say hello to him, or see what he has in his basket, that won't work. He always walks a dozen steps ahead of you. He walks as fast as you go, but you can never catch up with him.
The Dragon King goes on tour
Some nights, the Jade Emperor Tower is gleaming with phosphorus fire, and various sounds are heard from inside, like drills, like fighting, like dragons roaring, like tigers roaring, like ghosts crying, like gods howling, until roosters crow. Just stop. At dawn, those who were bold enough to go to the desolate courtyard to take a look found that the ruined temple was a ruined temple, the broken walls were broken walls, everything was as usual, nothing unusual. Like this, many more years passed.
Python
One summer, there was a drought and water shortage. In order to have a good harvest this year, a farmer tied up his pants on a dark night and carried a flat hoe on his shoulder to flood the seedlings that were about to become pregnant. He was guarding the edge of the field, and when he was tired, he wanted to find a stone to sit on, but he couldn't find it anywhere. There happened to be a "tree tube" lying across the ditch, so he sat on it. It was soft and felt very comfortable. Without thinking about it, he took out the leaf cigarette in his arms and wrapped it up slowly. After wrapping it, he placed it on the pipe, took out the fire sickle and lit it, and started smoking it deliciously. The smoke shortened brightly and dimly amidst the rattling sound, and time passed little by little. Hours passed, and the "tree tube" he sat on remained motionless, letting him sit.
Smoking dry cigarettes
The cigarette burned until there was still cigarette kernels left. He took out the cigarette rod from his mouth and blew the cigarette kernels on the "tree tube" where he was sitting. The "tree tube" that I sat down on was so hot that it rolled back to the Jade Emperor Tower. The "Tree Tongtong" made the farmer's eggs turn upside down, and even a cooked copper cigarette rod flew away to no one knows where. The farmer didn't want his hoe anymore. He got up and ran home. When he got home, he covered his head with a quilt and shivered constantly. He was ill for more than a month.
It turned out that the "tree tube" he was sitting on was a big python. Every day, when it was dark, he stretched out his head to drink water in a ditch many fields away from the Jade Emperor Tower. The boa constrictor wrapped its tail around the building pillar and stuck its head in the ditch. The farmer was sitting on this boa constrictor. This is a python that has gained enlightenment and has a deep understanding of human nature. He understands the hard work of farmers. Even if you sit there for more than an hour without moving, it is just that you have burned others, so how can they not stop?
Ye Yeyan
Speaking of this python, there is some background. He is the youngest son of Dragon King of the West Sea. He was demoted to the mortal world by the Jade Emperor for violating the rules of heaven, and was exiled to this broken Taoist temple to practice sin. The weasel is his servant, looking for food for him; the white crane is his maid, dancing for him; the old man Nawa'elu is his father, the Dragon King of the West Sea, who comes to see his youngest son every now and then.
This little dragon has been cultivating hard in this poor place year after year, concentrating on getting rid of his sins. He has never disturbed the people or harmed the poultry and livestock. Instead, he has used his only magic power to make this place have good weather, good harvests, and good livestock. If it is ever prosperous, Dingkou will be prosperous. People live a beautiful life free from disease, disaster, peace and tranquility.
福彩
People all know the whole story from the mouth of a wise alchemist. Therefore, during the New Year and festivals, everyone brought incense, wax, money, paper, and three animal sacrifices to this Taoist temple to burn incense and worship, to express gratitude to the great immortal for his blessings on living beings.
In 1735, Emperor Qianlong came to the throne. One day, the sky was clear, and at noon, colorful auspicious clouds came from the sky, and there was the vague sound of beautiful music. Within a few seconds, there were thick clouds, thunder and fire, heavy rain, and the Mawei River surged. Suddenly, thousands of rays of rays of light shot out from the top of the Jade Emperor Tower, and a vigorous golden-armored flying dragon rose into the sky, soared into the clouds, swung its head and tail in the clouds, rolled up and down, and danced gracefully. Then, with a flick of his tail, he plunged into the river from the Mianzhu Dragon Bridge. Suddenly, the river was choppy, with the ground three feet high and the waves thousands of feet high. The dragon took advantage of the power of the water, and the water helped the dragon's power. The golden dragon rode the smoke waves and whizzed down the river to the mouth of the two rivers where the Sheshui River and the Mawei River met. There was a stone arch bridge across the river. The golden dragon hesitated for a moment, but had no choice but to cross and had to stop and move forward. After he passed under the bridge, the solid stone arch bridge suddenly collapsed. Jin Long had no choice but to shake his head and walk away, running back to the West Sea.

Seeing the grand occasion of the real dragon appearing and ascending, people felt the kindness of protecting one side and invited the Taoist master to be the presiding officer to rebuild the Jade Emperor Temple. When the folks from hundreds of miles around learned about this, they all donated generously. The alchemists bathed and burned incense, prayed to God, and chose an auspicious day to break ground on the original site. People eat pot slurry to feed the craftsmen. With the joint efforts of skilled craftsmen and villagers, after five years, a majestic cosmic temple stands proudly in the West Sichuan Dam.
Jade Emperor Temple covers an area of dozens of acres. It is painted with pen, knife and carved, and typical stories of Taoism are inlaid and presented on the top of the mountain gate in the form of engravings, making the mountain gate more mysterious, elegant and otherworldly. The mountain gate, bell and drum tower, left and right wing rooms, Buddha Hall and Guan Gong Hall each have their own characteristics. The most worth visiting is the Jade Emperor Tower, which is supported by 16 straight and round golden nanmu held by two people, and stone drum pads weighing more than a ton are carried under the pillars. The bottom floor of the Jade Emperor Tower is where Taoist priests do their homework and perform rituals.
Jade Emperor
Climbing up the wooden stairs on both sides is Jade Emperor Hall. On the glazed jade, agate and pearl gold chair sits the supreme Jade Emperor who rules the three realms. He wears a bright gold silk robe and a shining comb decorated with dragon beads to symbolize imperial power. He has a sun halo on his head and fairies on his left and right hold silver silk and jade-handled fans crossed to serve him. The Jade Emperor's eyes are as bright as a torch, his face is full of majesty, and his whole body is noble, making people dare not look up to him. On the left and right sides are sculptures of the Twenty-eight Constellations, Nine Stars Officials, Twelve Yuanchen and other heavenly Bodhisattvas. It is like a temple of the Lingxiao that shines brightly on the universe and adds power to the world. On the left side of the Jade Emperor Tower is the Sutra Pavilion. There is a patio on the lower right side and a courtyard. This is the kitchen and housing, where Taoist priests eat and live.
Little Taoist
Under the steps in front of the left side of Jade Emperor Tower stands a bluestone tablet that is two people high and three feet wide. On it is engraved the origin of the construction of this temple, the rise and fall of the past dynasties, and the date of its completion. The names of many donors are also densely engraved. This temple consists of a mountain gate and three entrances and three halls. It has a rigorous structure, a standardized layout, a geometric shape, a spacious area, and the Taoist metaphysical concept of a round sky and a round place, which is very conducive to the cohabitation of humans and gods and the worship of pilgrims. The entire Yuguan has excellent visual effects, is majestic and extraordinary in style, with bright and spacious lofts and grand atmosphere.
Pray for blessings
Once this temple was opened, it became famous far and wide, attracting pilgrims who came to worship it from dozens of miles away. The donors donated a lot of money, and the temple owner also used the donations to purchase 20 to 30 acres of land. Since then, Jade Emperor Temple has become one of the few famous temples in Western Sichuan Basin, and its legacy has been passed down from generation to generation. During the Republic of China, there was a Taoist Chen who presided over the Jade Emperor Temple and also set up a private school to provide tutors for local aspiring children. There is a plaque inlaid on the tall mountain gate, which reads "Fancun Taoist Temple" in four large gilt characters, which means: Heaven sets a model, and its benefits are preserved in the world.
Private school
This Taoist temple once served as the office of the farmers' association, a school, a public grain warehouse, a consignment store, a medical station, and now a nursing home. These are all public welfare undertakings, so that's its final destination. Due to the existence of Fancun Taoist Temple, this place was called Fancun Village, which is still used today.
