COVID-19 Pandemic event is branched into 2 categories:
Category 1: Free application for 408 visa for up to 3 months, but no work permission.
Category 2: The employer is in a critical industry. Such as agriculture, food processing, health care, elderly/disability/child care, tourism, catering, etc. So they have the opportunity to apply for a 408 visa, which allows them to work full-time for one year. And the application does not require a guarantee from the employer, only proof of cooperation.
On March 6, the Immigration Bureau once again expanded the application scope of the 408 visa:
Multi-category temporary visa holders who work or plan to work in Australia can apply for free within 90 days before their existing visa expires on 6/12 Monthly work authorization 408 visa (Special Branch for the New Coronavirus Epidemic).
Applicants need to be in Australia and submit the application on or after February 21, 2022:
1, temporary visa holders in Australia, before February 21, 2022;
2, applicants after February 21, 2022 Enter Australia and have the right to work; or have a job offer from a Commonwealth-funded aged care employer.
Among them, if the applicant works in a key industry, the visa application fee is waived for 12 months for the 408 visa.
If the applicant is not in a key industry, he or she can also obtain a 408 visa with a 6-month visa application fee exemption.

2. Graduate work visa 485.
After graduation, if you want to stay in Australia to work and live, many people will choose to apply for a 485 work visa. While holding a 485 work visa, you can work full-time and try to get points to submit EOI and immigration applications. For example: 4 scores of 8 in IELTS/PTE test, reading professional year PY, accumulating work experience, taking NAATI/CCL test, etc.
485 visa application conditions:
1, aged under 50 years old.
2, satisfying 2 years of full-time study.
3, IELTS average score is 6 points, with no individual score less than 5 points.
4. The applicant’s major must be in SOL and pass the evaluation by relevant professional evaluation agencies.
5. Hold a valid visa.
6. The applicant is in Australia.
Currently, applications for the 485 work visa can still be submitted within or outside Australia, but the application must be completed within the first 6 months of the completion letter. Generally speaking, the registration time for a two-year master's program is 104 weeks . If you meet the requirements for a course to be registered on CRICOS for at least 92 weeks, you can apply for a 485 work visa.
3. Student visa 500.
If they want to continue studying or study a major after graduation, they can apply to get a new COE after graduating from school to get a new student visa, which is also a common renewal option.
This method is more suitable for students who need to continue studying to complete two years of study to obtain 5 points for immigration.
