Reporter: Chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang Zhu Lilun recently appointed Huang Jiezheng as the party’s “representative in the United States.” Huang said in an interview that he would put forward a so-called "new discourse" based on maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. What is the spokesperson's comment on this?

Ma Xiaoguang: Adhering to the "92 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence" are the common political basis for our interaction and exchanges with the Chinese Kuomintang, and are also the key to maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. The current situation across the Taiwan Strait is tense and turbulent. The root cause is that the Democratic Progressive Party authorities refuse to recognize the "1992 Consensus" and wantonly collude with external forces to pursue "independence" provocations, incite cross-strait confrontation and disrupt cross-strait relations. Both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China, and matters on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are the family affairs of compatriots on both sides. We believe that the Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are fully intelligent and capable of solving their own problems.
