Harbin is a new city with a history of more than 110 years. No Days" policy. Li Hongzhang The Sino-Russian Treaty of Mutual Assistance in Defense of the Enemy ("Sino-Russian Secret Treaty") was signed with Russia for the purpose of "joint defense of Japan and the United Kingdom". According to this treaty, the "China-Russia Joint Organization of the Middle East Railway Regulations" was signed. In 1898, when a special Russian mission set foot on the land of Harbin, the chapter of Harbin's urban history was opened.
There used to be consulates of 19 countries [Note: Russia and the Soviet Union are calculated together, not listed separately] in the land of Harbin. The first indisputable consulate in Harbin was Russia, which was established on January 14, 1907. Consulate General of Russia in Harbin. After US, Japan, France, Spain, Germany, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Italy, Portugal, Lithuania, Poland , Hungary [in chronological order of the establishment of consulates] set up consulates in Harbin, concentrated in Nangang District and Daoli District.
There was a saying, "If you want to get rich, build roads first." The tracks of the China Eastern Railway were laid in Harbin, turning the once small fishing village into an international metropolis. The establishment of so many consulates of various countries in a new city reflects the internationalization and high economic development of modern Harbin on the one hand, and it is very close to the political and economic exchanges around the world. On the other hand, it also reflects the peeping and grabbing of this forbidden land of the Qing Dynasty by various countries. The precious natural resources of Northeast China are continuously transported to all parts of the world through the China Eastern Railway.
In modern times, Harbin is known as the "Oriental Little Paris", and the architectural style is also a hundred flowers blooming and a hundred schools of thought contend. Although the main tone is European architectural style, the Chinese classical architectural style, Japanese modern style, etc., compete for excellence, reflecting the openness and tolerance of Harbin as an international metropolis. However, the style of the consulate building is amazingly unified. Whether it is a consulate converted from a private residence or a specially built consulate, they are all European-style architectural styles. From the architectural styles of these consulates, one can also understand a side of the architectural history of modern Harbin.
Time flies, the clock has pointed to 2017, the earliest consulate building is 110 years old, and the youngest consulate is over 80 years old. In the long years, many consulates could not stand the test of time, historical changes and the great development of the city, and have disappeared forever. Today, there are only 17 consulate buildings left. Let us visit together to witness the historical changes of Harbin. Development of old buildings.

This is my alma mater. In my college days, it was the "Old Civil Building" we walked through every day. Ming Hai Yun Business Hotel], in order to solve the problem of students' accommodation, a new dormitory building, which has been used for 20 years, was built in front of it only a few meters apart. The dormitory building blocks the face of the "Old Civil Building", but it cannot block our deep feelings for the "Old Civil Building". After the 80th anniversary of the founding of the school, the alma mater merged again after being separated from Harbin Institute of Technology for 40 years. On the museum day of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the school, the "Old Civil Building" became the current Harbin Institute of Technology Museum.

Heilongjiang Electric Power Company Canteen
【Former Italian Consulate in Harbin】
Location: No. 63, Hongjun Street.
History:
The building was built in 1919, brick-concrete structure, mainly Baroque eclectic style. Construction (fences). Although the area is not large, the shape is very beautiful and elegant. The most beautiful part of this building is the decoration on the roof, which was unfortunately demolished during the "Cultural Revolution".
The building was formerly known as the "Gibello Soco Building", after the owner who built it: the Italian Peter Ivanovich Gibero Soco.
In 1920, Italy established the Italian Consular Representative Office in Harbin in Harbin. In March 1923, the Italian Consulate in Harbin was officially established. Gibelo Soco was appointed the first consul of the Italian consulate in Harbin, and his private residence became the seat of the Italian consulate. Later moved to Nangang Station Street (Red Army Street), then moved to the corner of Jilin Street and Jiashu Street (now Minyi Street), and then moved to No. 107 Songhuajiang Street, Nangang District (Heilongjiang Radio and Television Hall Guest House). After Italy broke away from the Axis powers in 1942, the last consul left Harbin and closed.
During the period of Japanese puppet rule, this place used to be the Japanese military police headquarters.
After liberation, it was used as a warehouse, kindergarten and canteen by the power company.
After the power building was demolished in 1911, the canteen of the Heilongjiang Electric Power Company was idle.
After the power building was completed in 1987, it has been "hidden in the boudoir" and lived in darkness. In 2011, the Electric Power Building, which had gone through 24 years of spring and autumn, was finally demolished after ten years of discussions on the topic of demolition. The consulate finally "sees the sun again".
Highlights:
1) The original owner of this building, Jibelo Soko, is also a figure who has left a deep impression on the modern history of Harbin. But it was slowly forgotten, and more attention should be given to him.
2) This old building was originally used as a private residence and was later used as a consulate. The design was adapted to local conditions and combined with the needs of plane functions, the layout was very flexible. Whether as a residence or a consulate building, the style is unique. If you are interested in architecture, it is recommended to walk in as much as possible, and spend more time tasting it carefully before you can truly understand it. Otherwise, just take a photo to "visit here", you will not only lose the opportunity to get close contact with it, but also A disrespect to the art of architecture.
3) The human head sculptures on buildings and fences are unique. I have shared almost all the human head sculptures on buildings along Harbin and the Middle East Railway before, how much do you remember? During the visit, you can discuss this topic, and review the previous sharing, and learn from the past.
4) There is a tunnel in this building that leads directly to the outpatient department of the First Hospital of Medical University. Only some elderly people in Harbin who know the inside story know about it. If you have the opportunity to walk around, you will not only know the history of a consulate, but also more unknown historical chapters in Harbin.
5) The fate of the building is closely related to the Electric Power Building. After the Electric Power Building was completed in 1987, it has been "hidden in the boudoir" and lived in darkness. In 2011, the Electric Power Building, which went through 24 years of spring and autumn, was finally demolished after discussing the topic of demolition for ten years, and there was a heated discussion about "translation" of the consulate. The consulate finally "sees the sun again". And this 24-year tangled history will also leave a thought-provoking page in the history of Harbin architecture.
6) This building is called the ghost building, because after liberation, it was used as a warehouse, kindergarten and canteen by the power company. During the kindergarten period, a female kindergarten teacher committed suicide on the third floor.

Harbin International Friendship Cities Exhibition Hall
【Former site of the Danish Consulate in Harbin】
Location: No. 89, Tiandi Street.
History:
The building was built in 1920, brick and concrete structure, eclectic architectural style, second-class listed building.
On January 1, 1916, Denmark established the Danish Consulate in Harbin in Harbin. In the initial stage, the site was temporarily located in the Russian Consulate General in Harbin
, and no consular staff was dispatched, and the Russian Consulate General in Harbin was responsible for its consular affairs. In early 1919, the Danish government appointed Ya Guoxian as the consul in Harbin. The building was built in 1920 and the address is here.
In 1942 the Danish consulate was closed down by the Japanese puppet.
After the surrender of Japanese imperialism in 1945, the Danish Consulate in Harbin resumed its affairs.
November 25, 1946Li Minran, director of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Northeast Democratic Alliance Army Headquarters, wrote to Booker, ordering him to immediately stop illegally performing his duties as consulate in Harbin. The Danish consulate closed on December 5, and Booker left Harbin by plane in 1947.
Since January 2009, it has been the Harbin International Friendship City Exhibition Hall.
Highlights:
1) In order to transform the old consulate into the Harbin International Friendship City Exchange Center, the entire building is only the outer wall of the old building, and the internal structure is based on the new The pavilion needs to be completely rebuilt. The renovation of the Danish consulate is known as "new life", and it is highlighted as the most successful case of the government's protection of the consulate building. What do you think of this kind of protection?
2) The reason for the closure of the Danish consulate is special among all consulates. Do you know the real historical background and truth?
3) Harbin International Friendship City Exhibition Hall has good exhibits and few visitors. It is a good exhibition hall not to be missed. I have recommended it many times. But it is only open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, so pay attention to the time.

History:
The building is a brick-concrete structure, renaissance architectural style, and a second-class protected building.
The German consulate moved here after only 13 months,But the mark of the past is forever recorded in the annals of history and will be remembered for future generations.
Now No. 12 and 18 of Xierdao Street are Heilongjiang Supply and Marketing Cooperative Association, and No. 10 of Xierdao Street is Xinheyuan Food.
Highlights: Like another German consulate building, the old building upholds the rigor and low-keyness of German architecture, without any publicity. Doors, windows and some building components have also been replaced, but the Renaissance architectural style is still vividly reflected. Different from the gray exterior color of another German consulate building, the beige exterior color, as the main color of modern Harbin, better integrates into the city. Less personality, more modesty.
