" The design is quiet, whispering,
permeates the depths of the soul bit by bit,
is a visual effect, and it is actually a expression of life perception. "

LIVING ROOM

This Mumbai apartment designed by Ashiesh Shah combines local art and design. This is a quiet private residence. It was born during the lockdown period of the epidemic and will eventually dissolve the haze that remains in the hearts of the owners.
During the quarantine period, the normal of living alone and isolated from the world is extremely frustrating, because everything that was once within reach suddenly became a "luxury".
It started and ended in the lockdown. There is really no upside to being cut off from the rest of the world, a state of being during the pandemic.Everything that was once accessible is suddenly not.
But this limitation does not restrict Shah's ability to design space, all it needs is to go deeper inward.
But that constraint didn’t restrain Shah’s ability to design the home from scratch. All it took was turning inwards.
starts with a minimalist style entrance. The layout of the living room is so subtle and comfortable that it is full of surprises.
From the very minimalist entrance, the build-up in the living room is so subtle as to be unexpected.
This space is open and intimate, and the artwork with good taste is free to shuttle through it. Agile curves, warm rounded corners, mellow warm tones and carefully designed furniture pieces – some are tailor-made for the house, and some are from Shah’s studio.
At once large and intimate, the space is layered with remarkable artworks, curved lines, rounded edges, warm colours, and custom furniture—some made for this house and some pieces from Shah’s atelier.
Shah consciously keeps a low-key, simple neutral color, and unconsciously leave white space to lay out the narrative space so that the lilac tones on the oil painting above the sofa can be brought into this fascinating color story.
Shah obviously kept the palette neutral, because they wanted to reference the pastel aubergine from the painting above the sofa and bring it into colour story.

Ashiesh Shah worked with local craftsmen and brands to design the house using products provided by her studio.
In addition to four bedrooms, a spacious living room and a dining room with sea views, it also comes with a professional-grade luxury kitchen.
Except for four bedrooms, an expand living room, , a dining room with excellent sea views. the house is well-equipped with a professional-grade kitchen.
The designer uses gray of different shades and lays it on a large scale, giving the kitchen a low-key and humble attitude. There is also a rich storage space to accommodate a variety of tableware and objects in the kitchen. The black lines beside it are graffiti, with just a few strokes, and the spirit is suddenly interesting.
Designers use different colors of gray, giving the kitchen low-key and modest temperature. In addition, there is a rich storage space for all kinds of tableware and objects.

A series of color-shaded art paintings, gray texture carpet and a tall green plant add a little brightness to the originally gloomy restaurant.
The surrounding walls and ceilings are made of oak , and the floor is made of gray tiles. The door is made of metal as the outer frame, and the alabaster panel is the outer lining.
In the entrance area near the restaurant, the walls and top ceiling are made of oak , grey tiles used for the floor. The door is framed with metal and lined with alabaster panels.

In this space, Shah mixes the handmade floor tiles with marble and neutralizes the gray with yellow. In an interesting form, it created an interesting impromptu performance.
Owners believe in Shah's aesthetic taste. What they put forward is that they only require to choose neutral colors and not use wooden floors.
The homeowners trusted Shah's taste, and the only things they insisted on were neutral colors and no wood floors.
In addition, as art lovers, they hope that Shah can reserve enough space so that he can collect more art works in the future.
Apart from that, being art enthusiasts, they wanted me to make sure there was room enough to accommodate more art in the future.

Ashiesh Shah's space practice is rooted in the Japanese Wabisa style, which influences his perception of space and choice of materials.
He believes that aesthetics can be expressed as an incomplete, impermanent and flawed beauty.
He considers that the aesthetic may be described as beauty that is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.
