You may think that if you want flowers to bloom smoothly, you must take measures to insulate them and not let them suffer from cold or cold, otherwise they will not be able to germinate flower buds. In fact, I had the same idea when I first started growing flowers, but later I discovered that this was not the case.
There are many types of flowers . Different varieties have different growth habits. In my opinion, the following four kinds of flowers are "masochists". Only when they are severely frozen in winter can they bloom brightly and colorfully.
1, orchid
The orchid itself has very poor cold resistance. If it is kept outdoors for several cold days, it will seriously damage the branches and leaves, and even cause the orchid to lose its vitality. But the orchid is also a "masochist". It cannot enjoy it in a comfortable environment for a long time, otherwise it will not be able to divide the flower buds.
Especially spring orchids and Huilan flowers, they need to be properly frozen. For example, in late autumn and early winter, put them in a low-temperature environment for maintenance for a period of time, and then resume normal management after vernalization is completed, so that they can bloom smoothly.
2, Amaryllis
As soon as winter comes, many florists quickly move Amaryllis indoors for maintenance. In fact, I do not recommend this. Entering the house to keep it warm too early will not be conducive to the flowering of amaryllis, and may even worsen its growth in the coming year. During the period of late autumn and early winter, amaryllis should be placed in an environment of 5 degrees and frozen for a period of time, so that it can bloom with bright and colorful flowers.
When watering amaryllis, do not water too much at once, especially do not allow water to accumulate in the soil to prevent root rot and leaf rot. The water temperature for watering in winter must be close to room temperature. Do not use tap water directly, otherwise it will affect the normal growth of amaryllis.
3, Wintersweet
Among all flowers and plants, I feel that wintersweet has the strongest cold resistance. It should be regarded as the representative of winter flowering plants . Even if it is in a low temperature environment of dozens of degrees below zero, it will not have any impact on it, but it will make it look more beautiful. Just imagine, it’s snowy outside, but wintersweet can still bloom proudly in the snowstorm. How can this flowering spirit not be loved by flower lovers?
Wintersweet loves the sun, so it should be exposed to more sunshine at ordinary times, ensuring that the daily light time is not less than five hours to promote the differentiation of flower buds. When flowering is about to begin, you can topdress with some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in an appropriate amount. In normal times, you can apply more balanced nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers to ensure sufficient nutrient content in the soil.
4, Peony flower
Peony flower is the "king of flowers". Its beauty is beyond comparison with ordinary flowers. Its flowers are very colorful and colorful, mainly double flowers. After blooming, they look graceful, luxurious and high-end, and can exude a different temperament. Old gardeners usually plant peonies in autumn and put them directly outdoors in a low-temperature environment for maintenance in winter. This freezes the peonies hard and allows them to successfully complete the low-temperature catalysis before they can bloom beautifully in the coming year.
Peonies have certain requirements for air humidity. When the humidity in the air is too low, the leaves will become wilted and lifeless, so you need to spray water around regularly to increase the humidity in the air, so that the leaves can always show bright colors.
