Can the ground wire be 1.5 square meters? The first answer here is that it cannot and is not allowed.
Some regulations on socket wiring
There are clear regulations in the building electrical construction and acceptance specifications. The socket wiring in our home faces the socket in the direction of left zero and right fire. The key point here is that the ground wire must be connected, and the specification also has clear requirements for the ground wire, that is, the ground wire is not allowed to be less than 1/2 of the phase line, and should not be less than 2.5 square millimeters .
So when the neutral wire and live wire used in the sockets in our homes are 4 square millimeters, the minimum ground wire is also 2.5 square millimeters. The specification says that the cross-sectional area of the ground wire cannot be less than 1/2 of the phase wire and not less than 2.5 square millimeters. You may not know what it means, so let me give you an example.
When our live wire and neutral wire are 16 square millimeters, then 1/2 of it is 8 square millimeters. Obviously there is no wire of 8 square millimeters, so 10 square millimeters should be used at this time. When the live wire and neutral wire of the socket are both 2.5 square millimeters, you cannot choose according to 1/2, but you should directly choose the 2.5 square millimeter wire.
How to connect the ground wire of the socket in the home
After we know the requirements for the diameter of the ground wire of the socket in the home, we also need to know how to connect the ground wire in the home to be qualified and effective.
The ground wire in our homes starts from the indoor distribution box and ends at the ground terminal of each outlet. For example, in the ordinary socket circuits we arrange indoors, the ground wire is connected to the public ground terminal strip of the indoor distribution box. After connecting the wire from the ground bar, the entire wire is connected to the first socket of the circuit; then use a parallel connector at the first socket to take out a branch, connect it to this socket, and then connect the ground wire to the next socket. According to this rule, always connect the ground wires of all sockets in this circuit.
Another thing we need to pay attention to is the wiring in the distribution box in our home. There must be three incoming wires in the distribution box to ensure the effectiveness of the grounding system. These three wires are a live wire, a neutral wire and a ground wire; the live wire and the neutral wire are connected to the top of the main switch, and the ground wire is directly connected to the public ground bar in the distribution box. In this way, all the ground wires in our home can be connected to the ground of the building. Otherwise the grounding is ineffective. Just like many homes have only two entrance wires, this kind of ground wire is of little use even if it is connected.
