Geranium is a flower plant of the genus Geranium of the genus of the genus of the genus Cattle Seedlings. Its flowers are in a ball, the flowers are very bright in color, have good disease resistance, rarely get sick, and have simple home maintenance, so they are widely loved by flower lovers.

Geranium grows very fast, and it can basically fill the entire flower pot in half a year to a year. It is also very flowering and can bloom in a warm room in winter. However, if you want to grow it until it explodes in winter and turn it into a "beautiful potted plant" that everyone loves, you still need to work hard. To maintain geraniums after winter, in addition to knowing how to water, fertilize and other maintenance methods, you also need to learn how to prune branches so that the seedlings grow strong and bloom quickly. Today I will share this knowledge with you~

Winter maintenance method
Geraniums are very typical cold-loving flowers. After winter enters, most flower lovers will move geraniums indoors for maintenance. As long as the temperature reaches more than 10 degrees, the plants can grow and bloom normally. Therefore, even in winter, watering, fertilizing, sunbathing and other maintenance cannot be put down.

Sun more
Geranium likes sunshine very much. Good light can make it grow stronger and love to bloom. Except for avoiding direct sunlight in summer, it is best to receive full-day care in other seasons. Especially in winter, the ultraviolet rays of the sun are very weak, so you should pay attention to replenishing the plants. If there is insufficient light, the plants will not grow well. It is best to place the flower pot in a good lighting location such as the south balcony and the south windowsill.

Control watering
Geranium itself prefers dry soil, and the temperature in winter is relatively low, so the evaporation rate of water in the pot is greatly reduced. If the soil is too moist, the branches will grow in a mess and lose their beauty, which can easily cause root rot. So in winter, we must control the frequency of watering to make the soil dryer. After seeing that the soil surface becomes white and dry, don’t rush to water it first. Pick up the flower pot and weigh it. After finding that the flower pot has become significantly lighter, water it. Watering in winter should be done when the temperature rises at noon.

Apply a little thin fertilizer
As long as the indoor temperature is above 10 in winter, geraniums can continue to grow, and we need to regularly fertilize the plants to supplement nutrition. However, the growth in winter is not as good as spring and autumn. There is no need to apply too much fertilizer, just apply a little thin fertilizer. If it is solid organic fertilizer such as rotten cattle and sheep manure, bean cake fertilizer, earthworm manure, etc., buried a little in the soil every 40 to 60 days; if it is liquid fertilizer such as Huaduoduo No. 1, plant nutrient solution, water the root system once every 10 to 15 days.

When flower buds appear on the top of the branches of geranium, the fertilizer applied should be converted into flower-promoting fertilizers with high phosphorus and potassium elements, such as Huaduoduo No. 2, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, etc. According to the instructions, add the fertilizer to clean water and dispose it into fertilizer liquid, water the roots of the geraniums, and use it once every 15 to 20 days. After the buds are opened, stop fertilizing in time.
trim
In winter, if you want to cultivate geraniums with a "beauty", in addition to doing a good job of daily maintenance, you must also learn to prune. Appropriate pruning can promote the plant to be stronger, make the branches bloom quickly, and the overall plant shape will be more beautiful.

Sourceted Pruning
Many flower lovers will buy geranium seedlings in autumn and winter. During the seedlings, we do not need to let the geranium bloom. The main purpose of pruning is to allow it to grow into strong seedlings quickly. When the seedlings grow to about 10 cm, we use scissors or hands to cut off the buds at the top of the branches. In this way, the geraniums will not rush upwards and will start to grow side branches. When the newly grown side branches grow to about 8 cm, continue to cut off the buds at the top, so that the side branches will stop growing, and new side branches will grow next to the side branches. If you repeat this for 3 to 4 times, the geranium seedlings will grow many branches, the plant will become short, strong and plump, and the flower will be more.

Trimmed
If the home is a large geranium seedling, before entering the room in winter, the plant should be pruned a large amount. Clean the withered leaves, then cut off the dry branches, sick branches, thin branches, and cross branches, and then cut the long branches short. This can increase the space between the branches and make the air flow more, so that it is not easy to get sick indoors in winter.

Prune the residual flowers
Under proper maintenance, geraniums can bloom constantly indoors in winter, don’t just watch the flowers and forget to prune the residual flowers. If the blooming flowers remain on the branches, they will consume a lot of nutrients from the plant, affecting their subsequent growth and blooming. After the geranium flowers wither, cut off the remaining flowers and the peduncles.
