Today, our neighbor on the first floor asked me to appreciate the pot of succulent she planted a month ago (as shown in the picture below). Although they are not noble varieties, it is amazing that novices can grow this scale! Like the younger sister.
Every succulent lover knows that when you see the beautiful pictures of meat, you will feel joy, that is the beginning of your fall... Then, for newbies who have just entered the trap, it is not so easy to cultivate succulents and develop their state!
Today I had a sudden idea to share with meat friends some of my experiences in raising succulents in the past decade. I hope I can give some inspiration to new friends.
. Selection of succulent varieties
novice first choose common goods, which is cheap and easy to raise, and you won’t feel sorry for raising them if you die. There are many channels for purchasing succulents. You can buy them at the flower market or online, but don’t buy them in the city’s flower shops or home furnishing stores. These places are very expensive, so it’s not a pity for people to kill! In addition, be careful when buying, don’t buy “medicine brocade”, which is the colorful succulent, which are all mutant varieties that are forced to feed with medicine. It is difficult to support them after buying them home.
. Choice of soil
Soil is a relatively expensive thing. Yes, it is even more expensive than buying succulents. It is more convenient to buy finished soil online, but the price is relatively high. At the beginning, novices will buy finished nutrient soil directly and then buy some granular soil. When the habit of succulent growth is almost done in the later stage, they can just make the soil by themselves.
mixed soil means that peat soil and granular soil are matched in a certain proportion. The proportion depends on the size of the seedlings. The larger the seedlings, the more particles there are, and the higher the breathability to the soil!
. Choose flower pots
Flower pots should not be bought in physical stores. There are all kinds of beautiful flower pots on the Internet, and they are all very cost-effective. For succulents, the most suitable flower pot is the red pot, which is breathable and water-permeable. It is used by novices to raise it, and the survival rate is very high and the roots are not easily rotten. However, red pottery basins are relatively expensive, and growing more succulents is also a money-burning thing. The most affordable one is the plastic black square basins, which are cheap and resistant to falling. The key is that they are breathable and water-permeable.
Others, such as editor’s basket, bamboo basket, vegetable basket and other homemade flower pots, can also be used, and do not use breathable glass jars or porcelain basins!
. Things to note and tips for novices to raise succulents:
Novices to raise succulents, summarize it in three points: control your hands, rest, and selectively bask in the sun.
⑴Stop your hand: Don’t water it just for nothing, don’t water it just for nothing, don’t water it just for nothing! The newly arrived meat is put into the pot and then water it less water along the edge of the pot every 3-5 days. Water it thoroughly at one time when the soil is dry and wet for about 10 days. This is a process of slowing down the roots. If you can’t control it, just wait to send the meat back to your hometown!
⑵Restoration: The roots of the newly entered pot have not yet been grasped with soil. They move around day by day. Can it survive? So, choose a ventilation location and don’t move it back and forth!
⑶Selective sunbathing: Don’t put it in the sun when you have not fully taken the basin. Place it near the balcony to shine scattered light. If it is summer, the sun is too poisonous and you need shade at noon, and you should also choose to water it in the morning or evening.
Raising succulents is a meticulous job. If you are a novice, you must be more patient, patient, and patient...Don't just look for freshness on a whim!
