Orchid diseases are generally more common in the peak season of spring and summer growth (of course there are also other seasons, but the proportion is smaller). The key to our orchid cultivation is to completely eliminate the disease before it arrives, which requires some planting and maintenance skills.
For the same orchid variety, why do some orchid friends easily maintain it while others suffer from illness? In addition to environmental factors, management after autumn is also very critical. According to years of practice, as long as you do these steps before winter every year, the chance of orchids infected next year will be greatly reduced. Here we will decompose it in 5 steps in order:
1. Group
Divide all the orchids you raise into two groups, and the healthy and vigorous ones are the normal groups. Any problem group that has certain diseases this year, leaves have obvious lesions, or root rot has been divided into problems. This step is very important, which is to separate all orchid diseases that may relapse this year.
2. Depot
Depot all the orchids in the problem group, and the transplant material will no longer be retained. The orchid roots are rinsed with running water, without soaking the potion separately. If possible, the flower pot will be disinfected and sterilized and used again after half a year. If you need to continue using it, spray sterilization medicine and expose it to the sun. In the entire orchid environment, spray 200 times mutton to disinfect.
3. Trim
All the roots of career dark spots and orchid roots with signs of empty and rotten roots, be trimmed cleanly. Repair all aged leaves, dry leaves, and leaf keratin ; if there are obvious lesions or dark spots on the leaves, you must also trim. The entire operation process is carried out after leaving the maintenance area.
4. Preparation of planting materials
The above said that all the planting materials in the problem group have been processed. Now the planting needs to be prepared separately for planting. Considering that the orchids in the problem group are relatively poor, the potability after planting will also be worse. Therefore, when preparing planting materials, not only new materials are needed, but also some original soil (dodge soil) is needed from the orchid pots in the normal group.
5. After planting, manage
After all the above steps are done, replant the orchids according to normal standards. After the pot is in, you need to spray it with germine once, because many leaves have been pruned to prevent bacteria from invading from the wound. At the same time, it is also to completely eliminate the bacteria that were originally hidden in dead leaves, so as to prevent them from recurring after spring.
In fact, many orchid friends will also perform this series of orchid operations every autumn and winter, but why can't they play a role in preventing diseases? The reason is that during the operation, the order of some steps is confused, resulting in the incomplete removal of bacteria.
Although various diseases cannot be completely and absolutely avoided after orchids are domestically maintained, after taking preventive measures, the chance of orchids being infected can indeed be minimized. Although I have not accurately counted the effects of these operations. However, the obvious difference is that the processed orchids do grow more vigorously and healthier in the second year than the unprocessed orchids.
In fact, there is no profound secret to growing orchids (regardless of special orchid species), it is nothing more than using the environment to promote its growth; using planting materials to make it strong; using means and drugs to prevent and treat diseases. If all these are done, the maintenance of orchids will naturally not be difficult.
