The most distinguished believer in the Catholic Church-Zhu Youlang, Emperor Yongli of the South Ming Dynasty

1644, the Ming Dynasty, which was troubled internally and externally, finally fell at the feet of the peasant army. The rebel army led by Chuang Wang Li Zicheng captured the capital of the Ming Dynasty. Wu Sangui, who resisted the Qing soldiers outside the pass, heard the news of the fall of the capital, weighed it over and over again, and then offered pass to the Qing!

Li Zicheng, formerly known as Hongji, with small characters Huang Lai'er and Zao'er, leader of the peasant uprising in the late Ming Dynasty!

After the fall of Beijing, the Ming dynasty clan was unwilling to perish, so a number of regimes were established in the south one after another, known as Nanming in history! The Nanming regime has undergone many changes, including Hongguang, Longwu, Shaowu and so on... But then they were defeated one by one by the Qing army. The Nanming emperor was either captured or committed suicide, and Nanming was just dying!

After the defeat of the Longwu regime, the remaining ministers of the Ming dynasty soon supported the king of Gui Zhu Youlang as emperor in the southwest. The title of emperor: Yongli! After Zhu Youlang ascended the throne, Zheng Chenggong, who had been active in the southeast coast, also took advantage of the momentum to rise to the Qing Dynasty and Fuming, and the Nanming regime sniped the Qing army from the east and the west. Suddenly, the anti-Qing situation appeared a small climax! But then there was an internal conflict among the Three Kings, and the Qing army also attacked in an all-round way. This small climax went out!

Zhu Youlang, the grandson of Ming Shenzong Zhu Yijun, the son of Guiduan King Zhu Changying, and the last emperor of the Southern Ming Dynasty

saw the same mistake again. Zhu Youlang had no choice but to turn his eyes abroad. During the Ming Dynasty, Catholicism was already relatively active in China, so the powerful "Crusade" thousands of miles away became Zhu Youlang's life-saving straw! So Zhu Youlang wrote a letter, signed: Constantine Zhu. He also dispatched the missionary Bu Miguel to Rome, requesting the Holy See to send a ‘stronger’ crusade to the east again to save him, the emperor’s Catholics, from declining power!

As for the content of the letter, it is estimated that it is nothing more than the conversion of Catholicism to the state religion after taking back the country! But the Catholic countries at that time had just finished fighting, and their vitality had not yet recovered, and their power was not as good as before. No one wanted to go to war so far, although this could spread the Lord's reputation to the entire East! Only the King of Portugal verbally agreed to Zhu Youlang, but he did not actually plan to leave! But Zhu Youlang was full of hope, and even baptized his third son, Zhu Cixuan, to become a Catholic, and named him "Dangding", which is now translated as "Constantine", which is the same as Constantine the Great of the Roman Empire! Zhu Youlang hoped that through the baptism and enthronement of the prince, Daming could convert Catholicism to the state religion and revive the empire like the Roman Empire. Later, Zhu Cixuan was named the prince, and he became the first prince to believe in Catholicism! Also the last prince of Nanming!

Catholic

Finally, hopeful Zhu Youlang did not wait for his crusade reinforcements after all, and the Ming Army’s Yunnan-Guizhou line was quickly broken by the Qing army. Zhu Youlang fled to Burma. In the fifteenth year of Yongli, Wu Sangui led the Qing army into Burma. Burma Wang Mangbai was afraid of the power of the Qing army, so he tied the Yongli Emperor to the Qing army. In April of the following year, Emperor Yongli and prince Zhu Cixuan were executed by Wu Sangui in Kunming, and Nanming finally perished.

But having said that, if the Catholic Church were to lose its strength at the time, for the vested interests and their masters, those Catholic countries might really go to the east again, and this time there is a powerful and just reason: the crusades are marching forward, targeting China, For the saints, Lang Zhu regained his country, and spread the glory and reputation of the Lord throughout the east!
