There is no doubt that Zuoquan, as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Eighth Route Army during the War of Resistance One of the senior generals of the sacrificed Eighth Route Army. Because the Kuomintang and the Communist Party cooperated in the war, Zuo Quan was awarded the rank of major general by the National Government. And if it weren't for his unfortunate death in Liao County, Shanxi (now Zuoquan County) in 1942, Zuo Quan in 1955 would have started with the rank of general at least.

General Zuo Quan was born in Liling, Hunan in 1905, and he was accepted by the Whampoa Military Academy and Fulongzhi Military Academy in the Soviet Union. With formal military education, he was already the commander of the Red Army during the Agrarian Revolution. In the arduous battle against the raid, Zuo Quan unfortunately died and died. Later, to commemorate him, Liao County in Shanxi was renamed Zuoquan County, which is still in use today.

After Zuo Quan’s death, three students from the Northern Bureau of the Communist Party of China Party School found Zuo Quan’s body. Everyone hid his body and retrieved Zuo Quan's gun. Three days later, the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army and the Eighth Route Army headquarters sent people to find Zuo Quan's body. In order for the general to rest in peace, General Zuo Quan was moved to the foot of the Lotus Mountain in Shimen Village, Shexian County, Hebei Province. Everyone built the cemetery of General Zuo Quan, and Zhu De and Peng Dehuai wrote poems and inscriptions for him.


In October 1942, General Zuo Quan’s public sacrifice meeting was held in Shimen Village. According to the memories of those involved, more than 5000 cadres and soldiers of the Eighth Route Army came here for public sacrifice.

In October 1950, 8 years after the death of General Zuo Quan, the coffin of General Zuo Quan moved The Jin-Ji-Lu-Yu Martyrs Cemetery in Handan City. The Zuoquan Tomb in Shimen Village was also left. The tomb is carefully maintained in the village. In 1989, Shimen Village planned to send someone to protect the tomb of Zuoquan, and villager Yang Aigong took the initiative.


For the next 20 years, Yang Aigong has been working hard, and he is obliged to clean up and maintain the tomb of Zuo Quan. In 2009, after the elderly Yang Aigong was unable to take on this job, he was replaced by his son.

Yang Aigong witnessed the memorial meeting of General Zuo Quan at the time. He was only 13 years old at that time. member. After the Japanese came to Shexian County, they did everything by burning, killing and looting. Unfortunately, Yang Aigong's father and grandfather were killed. The death of his relatives planted the seeds of hatred in Yang Aigong's heart and gave him a deeper understanding of the Eighth Route Army led by the Communist Party.


Yang Aigong volunteered to maintain the tomb of Zuoquan in his later years, which reflects the love of the people in Hebei for the Eighth Route Army and the deep love of the people's army and the masses.
