The revolutionary era is full of life and death.
In October 1934, after the failure of the fifth counter-campaign against "encirclement and suppression", the Central Red Army decided to start the Long March. Faced with the cruel situation, Lu Dingyi's family fell into separation.
Lu Dingyi participated in the Long March with the army as a cadre of the second column. His wife Tang Yizhen had to stay in the Soviet area because she was pregnant with Liujia and had limited mobility. As for his three-year-old daughter Ye Ping, he had to stay in the Soviet area with his wife.
In fact, both Lu Dingyi and Tang Yizhen knew the cruelty of this separation. After all, the Kuomintang reactionaries at that time launched various pursuits and interceptions, whether against the Red Army during the Long March or the Red Army staying in the Central Soviet Area. Unexpectedly, this separation would actually become the eternal farewell between husband and wife.
Regarding the sacrifice of his wife Tang Yizhen, Lu Ding did not learn about it from He Yi until 1943. Although Lu Dingyi later married Yan Shuibing, he still cared about his wife and two separated children and vowed to find their lost children.
However, it is extremely difficult to find a pair of lost children in a vast sea of people and a long time. However, as luck would have it, after many setbacks, Lu Dingyi finally found and recognized his son in 1979.
However, there has been no news from the eldest daughter Ye Ping. As he grew older, Lu Dingyi missed his wife Tang Yizhen very much, so he wrote an affectionate eulogy about his wife - "Memories of Martyr Tang Yizhen" and published it in "Fengzhanhongqi".
This sincere article was read by coincidence in 1987 by a teacher named Lai Zhangsheng at the Southern Metallurgical College in Ganzhou, Jiangxi (now Jiangxi University of Science and Technology). What’s even more coincidental is that the Ye Ping mentioned in this article matches his mother, Zhang Laidi, in terms of foster care time, address, and even nickname. Undoubtedly, his mother Zhang Laidi was the daughter of the current Vice Prime Minister Lu Dingyi. With excitement and anxiety, Lai Zhangsheng wrote to Lu Dingyi the next day.
In this way, after receiving Lai Zhangsheng's letter, Lu Dingyi finally confirmed the news about his daughter who had been separated for 53 years. At the end of 1987, the octogenarian Lu Dingyi met his daughter cordially at the Binjiang Guest House in Nanchang, Jiangxi.
During the meeting, the old man looked at his daughter, who was already knowing her destiny, , and couldn't help but burst into tears.
"My child, after 53 years, I finally picked you up again!"
Everyone present was moved by this scene, and even more happy to see the father and daughter reunited after a long separation.
Flesh and blood separated, no information, long separation reunited
In October 1934, after the Central Red Army decided to march on the Long March, Lu Dingyi and Tang Yizhen had to separate. Tang Yizhen also knew about her concern and reluctance to leave her husband Lu Dingyi.
So, she told Lu Dingyi all about her arrangements so that he would not worry too much. She will follow the left-behind Red Army to Changting, Fujian. As for her daughter Ye Ping, she will entrust her to Zhang Dewan, the administrator of the medicine factory.
After the couple separated, Tang Yizhen prepared some clothes for her daughter, and then handed Ye Ping to the loyal and honest Zhang Dewan, and also handed over the family heirloom ivory chopsticks to Zhang Dewan.
Tang Yizhen soon went to Changting, Fujian together with Mao Zetan and He Yi. Soon after, Tang Yizhen, who was about to give birth, was sent to Guitian to give birth and successfully gave birth to a boy. She named the child Xiaoding, which showed her longing for her husband.
But not long after production, the Kuomintang army caught up. In order to transfer and for the safety of his son, Tang Yizhen had no choice but to give Xiao Ding to the old Red Army Fan Qibiao and his wife to raise. At the same time, Tang Yizhen also left a carpet and a copper washbasin as tokens, and wrote the address of his hometown in Wuchang. However, this farewell became an eternal farewell. In 1935, Tang Yizhen was captured by the Kuomintang. Faced with the Kuomintang's coercion and inducement, Tang Yizhen insisted on the integrity of a communist and eventually died heroically at the age of 25.
At the same time, the Kuomintang also launched a large-scale manhunt in Guitian and other places. Fan Qibiao, who was entrusted by Tang Yizhen, was also imprisoned because of his previous acceptance of the children of the Red Army (that is, Xiao Ding, the son of Tang Yizhen and Lu Dingyi).
But Fan Qibiao naturally knew how powerful it was and refused to admit it; at the same time, he had already hidden the keepsake left by Tang Yizhen, and the package with her address and name written on it was also dyed with paint.
In this way, Fan Qibiao was successfully released after paying a sum of money, and his child Xiao Ding also survived the crisis without any danger. To be safer, Fan Qibiao changed the child's name to Fan Jiading and raised him like this for 18 years.
In 1952, Fan Jiading reached adulthood at the age of 18, and New China had been established for three years at that time.
After thinking about it again and again, Fan Qibiao told him all about Fan Jiading's life experience, and also gave him the stall, the copper basin, and the dyed package. After learning about his life experience, Fan Jiading wrote a letter with an address in Wuhan, but it was returned with no such address.
In this way, Fan Jiading's search for relatives was temporarily suspended, and it was not until Fan Jiading looked at the dyed package that he found writing, and learned from the public security officers that bleaching powder can restore the original color.
After soaking in bleaching powder, Fan Jiading recognized the handwriting on it, which contained the name of his mother Tang Yizhen and his address. Therefore, after writing to inquire, Fan Jiading was confirmed to be the son of Tang Yizhen and Lu Dingyi. However, due to various reasons, Fan Jiading and Lu Dingyi were not able to meet each other until 1979.
The son was found, but where was the daughter? Knowing his father's wish, Fan Jiading has been helping his father to find information about his sister in Jiangxi and Gannan, but he has not found her.
It was not until 1987, five years after the publication of "Memories of Martyr Tang Yizhen" by his father Lu Dingyi in "Fengzhanhongqi", that things turned around.
It turns out that Huang Yuxiang, a data clerk at the Southern Metallurgical Institute (now Jiangxi University of Science and Technology) in Ganzhou , saw the article and felt that it was quite similar to the story of his colleague Lai Zhangsheng's mother. In this way, she told Lai Zhangsheng, and Lai Zhangsheng immediately confirmed that her mother Zhang Laidi was Ye Ping in the article. In this way, there is a scene where Lai Zhangsheng, the leader of the chapter, writes a letter to Lu Dingyi, and there is also a scene where father and daughter meet again after 53 years.
Summary
Lu Dingyi’s separation from his wife and children is a true portrayal of countless revolutionary ancestors in China at that time. It is also because of countless revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives to care for everyone and shed their blood that we have the happy life we have today.
