Since ancient times, Chinese people have paid attention to benevolence and the conduct of a gentleman. They have always regarded being upright to oneself, forgiving others, and loving and generous as a code of conduct in daily life.
The Chinese Communists were able to lead the Chinese people to overthrow feudal rule, expel foreign aggression, and defeat world powers under the oppression of the three mountains of the old society. They relied on the noble character of persisting in the pursuit of truth and rectifying others with oneself.
is just like Mencius said, "There are lifelong worries, but no one-day troubles." It means that Communists regard liberating the people and developing people's livelihood as their lifelong career, and they never care about their own honor, disgrace, gains and losses. Even if they are wronged or falsely accused for a moment, Communists will treat them magnanimously to resolve the hatred between each other.
In 1959, when Marshal Peng Dehuai was attacked, Huang Kecheng, who spoke upright, was framed by his former subordinates. However, 22 years later, when Huang Kecheng was interrogating the founding lieutenant general who framed him, he magnanimously ordered: Let him go home to recuperate.
The founding general Huang Kecheng, who was born into an ordinary peasant family, was determined to fight for the country and the people.
The founding general Huang Kecheng did not change his true character or speak lies under tremendous pressure in military command and political work. He insisted on being loyal to the party and the army. Chairman Mao Zedong praised him as "Huang Lao" in the military.
General Huang Kecheng was born in an ordinary peasant family in Yongxing County, Hunan Province in October 1902. Living conditions at home were poor since childhood.
He has an elder brother and a younger brother. Although his parents love their children very much, the family does not have good conditions. Huang Kecheng and his brother have gone to the mountains to cut firewood and grass since he was a child, doing everything they can to help the family supplement their lives.
Huang Kecheng's father is a typical simple and honest ordinary Chinese farmer with a low level of education. He always cares for the children in the family silently and works hard for the family all day long.
When Huang Kecheng's father was free from farming, he would go to villages and sell some coarse salt to supplement the family income, barely raising four children.
Children of poor people have early masters. When Huang Kecheng was 6 years old, Huang Kecheng's father asked someone to find him a job as a herdsman for a landlord's family.
Every day before dawn, little Huang Kecheng would get up from his bed, simply grab some water and dry buns, and start taking Lao Niu to look for green grass all over the mountains and fields.
html A 06-year-old child with short calves and a weak body could not handle the strong old cow at all. At the beginning, Huang Kecheng was always carried around by the old cow. He tried his best and couldn't move the cow well. Not only could he not find any good forage, but he was also worried that the cow would break down or get lost in the mountains. Not long after, the clever Huang Kecheng thought of a good idea. He tied a rope around his waist and tied it to the cow's tail.
Then use good forage as bait, and lead the cow to go wherever it wants to go, which saves effort and trouble. When everyone sees the cleverness of the little child, they all praise him for his natural intelligence, and he will definitely be successful in the future.
Huang Kecheng's father was very happy to see his child so smart.
As a father who loves his children, Huang Kecheng's father has always wanted his children to go to school and become educated people when they grow up, so as to escape the poor life of facing the loess and back to the sky.
However, since the living conditions at home have not improved much and there are many children, Huang Kecheng's father has not decided which child to send to school. Now that he sees that Huang Kecheng is so smart and has reached the appropriate age for school, Huang Kecheng's father has made the final decision.
In the old society, sending a child to study was a relatively big deal for a poor family or even an ordinary clan. It not only cost a lot, but also involved the adjustment of relationships within the clan.
Huang Kecheng's father discussed it over and over with his relatives, and everyone agreed to send Huang Kecheng to study. When the tuition was not enough, everyone scraped together some things, and finally let Huang Kecheng go to school.
Carrying the hopes of everyone in his family, Huang Kecheng studied hard and worked hard in school and achieved good academic results. After several years of struggle, he was admitted to the Third Provincial Normal School of Hunan Province and became a rare educated person in the society at that time.
When he was studying in a normal school, Huang Kecheng came into contact with progressive revolutionary ideas. He thought deeply about why his parents had worked hard all their lives, but their lives at home had not improved much. How can thousands of poor Chinese farmers like their parents, under the oppression of the old society, find a way out and a future?
Under the baptism of revolutionary ideas, Huang Kecheng's life has undergone earth-shaking changes. Becoming a cultural person and making money to support his family are no longer his life goals. Huang Kecheng vowed to fight for ordinary people and the future of the motherland.
Since then, Huang Kecheng has always insisted on putting the interests of the people first, guided by correct ideas, upright and unchanging. No matter what difficulties, obstacles, life and death disasters he faced, he never wavered in his thoughts and persistence.
Huang Kecheng, who dared to fight, spoke out and remonstrated, was a well-known upright person in the revolutionary ranks.
After participating in revolutionary activities, Huang Kecheng always held himself to the highest standards. He was proactive and neglected food and sleep. He soon became an active member of the revolutionary activities. In 1925, he gloriously joined the Communist Party of China and entered the Guangzhou Central Political Workshop the following year.
After graduating from the Central Political Workshop, Huang Kecheng participated in the Northern Expedition and served as a battalion and regiment-level political instructor in the National Revolutionary Army. He led the soldiers to learn revolutionary ideas, enhance the revolutionary fighting spirit of the team, and led the team to fight on the front line during the battle. After the failure of the
Revolution, Huang Kecheng secretly returned to his hometown to organize revolutionary activities in accordance with the instructions of his superiors. He actively organized and promoted the Hunan Uprising, and led the revolutionary team to capture the city of Yongxing County.
After the success of the uprising, Huang Kecheng keenly realized that the revolutionary force was still in the development stage and should avoid fighting the enemy to the death. This correct view and understanding was criticized by some blindly optimistic people as right-leaning negative thinking, and thus he was unfairly accused and treated.
But Huang Kecheng did not give in under pressure. He always insisted on his correct thinking.
During the anti-"encirclement and suppression" struggle in the Central Soviet Area, Huang Kecheng based his facts and put forward correct ideas such as opposing separation from the support of the revolutionary masses and attacking the enemy's big cities. However, he was criticized by the leaders at that time who blindly followed the Soviet revolutionary experience and was demoted.
In the face of unreasonable accusations and criticisms, Huang Kecheng did not waver in his correct ideas. He always insisted on opposing "left" adventurism, and when he was criticized and demoted, he refused to admit his mistakes against his will, becoming a famous person in the revolutionary ranks who dared to speak out.
Huang Kecheng's upright character caused him to be treated unfairly and demoted many times. Even during the Long March, Huang Kecheng was kicked out of the army command post and demoted to an ordinary soldier because his opinions were misunderstood during the Long March. It was not until the Red Army arrived in northern Shaanxi that he resumed certain job benefits.
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Huang Kecheng was appointed as the Organization Minister of the General Political Department of the Eighth Route Army. After conducting an in-depth investigation of the army, he proposed to the Party Central Committee a proposal to restore the political commissar system.
After this suggestion was adopted by the central government, it not only quickly improved the combat effectiveness of the revolutionary ranks, but also laid a solid foundation for the ranks to maintain the glorious traditions and fine styles of our party and our army.
After the Wannan Incident in 1941, Huang Kecheng was appointed as the division commander of the 3rd Division of the New Fourth Army and the commander of the Northern Jiangsu Military Region. He led the people and revolutionary forces in northern Jiangsu and persisted in organizing the anti-Japanese struggle, opening up anti-Japanese base areas, and counterattacking the Japanese and puppet troops. Until the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, most of northern Jiangsu was liberated.
During the War of Liberation, Huang Kecheng still maintained a keen strategic vision. He put forward the correct suggestion to the central government to organize a large force to enter the Northeast to establish a base. Then, according to the instructions of the Central Committee, he led the troops to break through the obstacles and successfully completed the strategic mission of advancing into the Northeast. He made important contributions to winning the War of Liberation and successfully reunifying the country.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Huang Kecheng was appointed as Secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Commander of the Hunan Military Region. He led the people of Hunan to carry out land reform, suppress bandits, develop production, and restore people's livelihood, allowing the people of Hunan Province to quickly return to normal production and life, and made outstanding achievements.
Later, Huang Kecheng was transferred to the Chief of General Staff of the People's Liberation Army, where he led the army's reorganization, national defense and military strategy, and military organization construction. He also directly commanded major military operations such as the bombardment of Kinmen, which played an important role in promoting the rapid development of the People's Liberation Army on the road of formalization and technology.
In 1955, in the military awards ceremony, Huang Kecheng was honorably awarded the rank of general due to his outstanding military exploits and extraordinary achievements, and became one of the ten generals founding the People's Republic of China.
The upright Huang Kecheng was framed himself, but he was generously ordered to go home
At the Lushan meeting, Marshal Peng Dehuai, who was devoted to public affairs, raised a number of practical issues. This formulation touched the sensitive nerves of some people, so that what was originally a normal proposal to find and solve the problem was quickly criticized as a malicious attack containing political ambitions.
Wrong ideological struggle led to Marshal Peng Dehuai being unfairly accused, criticized and punished.
At that time, the storm was raging and the situation was delicate. Many people took the initiative to distance themselves from Marshal Peng Dehuai to avoid being implicated.
However, General Huang Kecheng did not succumb to the crisis. He was selfless, fearless and upright, and stood up and spoke out against injustice.
At that time, the Politburo Standing Committee notified Huang Kecheng to attend a meeting to discuss Peng Dehuai's "Great Leap Forward" issue. It was hoped that Huang Kecheng, as an old subordinate of Peng Dehuai, could raise questions and objections to Peng.
However, Huang Kecheng not only did not object to Peng Dehuai's correct opinions, but also put forward three additional opinions on the "Great Leap Forward" from his own perspective and insights.
Some "enthusiastic people" reminded Huang Kecheng not to act as Peng Dehuai's political chief of staff, to draw a clear line with Peng Dehuai, and to strike back at reactionaries and counterrevolutionary ideas. Huang Kecheng replied angrily: This is to add insult to injury, but I don't have a stone in my hand.
Facing the upright Huang Kecheng, the "enthusiastic people" shook their heads helplessly. After these words came out, some people secretly believed in the support of many parties, and some people held grudges and framed him openly.
At a meeting, Huang Kecheng's old subordinate, the founding Lieutenant General Wu Faxian, suddenly made a statement, saying that in 1945, there was an office fund of more than 400 taels of gold, which was managed and used by Huang Kecheng.
Later, this fund disappeared without a trace. It was possible that Huang Kecheng took it for himself and embezzled it privately.
Founding Lieutenant General Wu Faxian was also a veteran general of the People's Liberation Army. He was a native of Yongfeng County, Jiangxi Province. He joined the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in 1930 and worked with Huang Kecheng for a long time. As early as when Huang Kecheng was the commander of the 3rd Division, Wu Faxian was a general under Huang Kecheng.
Therefore, Wu Faxian's action of exposing Huang Kecheng was considered by many to be true, and Wu Faxian would not frame the old leader.
However, everyone has overlooked one thing: At that time, Wu Faxian had followed the counter-revolutionary group further and further. His mind had been occupied by the idea of fighting for power and profit, and he was no longer a simple revolutionary warrior who fought for the people and sacrificed his life for the country.
Wu Faxian, then deputy chief of staff of the People's Liberation Army and commander of the Air Force, used this incident to frame Huang Kecheng. Not only did he try to figure out his intentions and attack Peng Dehuai, Huang Kecheng and others, he also took the opportunity to remove the "blocking stones" on his way forward - Because after Huang Kecheng resigned, Wu Faxian's position and power would be greatly improved.
This matter spread quickly. The funding of more than four hundred taels of gold is not a small amount, and this kind of suspicion and attack on character has special significance at this time.
Huang Kecheng, who was accused of corruption, was no longer believed. He quickly put on the hat of an anti-party element, was removed from relevant positions in the Central Military Commission and the People's Liberation Army, and was dismissed from office and returned home.
This incident has almost become a stain on Huang Kecheng, but fortunately, Luo Ruiqing, who was ordered to investigate the matter, found Weng Xuwen, who was responsible for keeping and recording the expense. After Weng Xuwen's answer, he found out the actual situation of the expense.
At that time, in order to advance the Northeast's grand strategy, the troops marched thousands of miles from south to north. For convenience on the way, Huang Kecheng, with the approval of his superiors, exchanged a sum of funds for easy-to-carry gold, totaling more than four hundred taels.
After the liberation of Northeast China, Huang Kecheng was ordered to serve as Secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee. This money was used to relieve the people of Hunan. The remaining funds were handed over to the Hunan Finance Department, and their specific uses, time, etc. were recorded in the ledgers.
Luo Ruiqing found this account book, and after detailed comparison and research, he proved the authenticity of this detailed account book, thus clearing General Huang Kecheng's innocence.
However, it takes time to investigate what happened, and by the time the truth of the matter was found out, Huang Kecheng had been dismissed from his post and went home to work.
Later, Wu Faxian was dismissed from all his positions due to his participation in Lin Biao's counterrevolutionary group and other criminal activities. In 1981, he was sentenced to 17 years in prison - Wu Faxian was already in his sixties at the time. If he had been imprisoned for more than ten years at this time, he would probably have died in prison.
At this time, Huang Kecheng, who had been rehabilitated, happened to be holding a relevant management position. When Wu Faxian's verdict came down, Huang Kecheng said: He is already very old and his health is not good. Let him go home to recuperate.
With Huang Kecheng's instructions, Wu Faxian was granted medical parole and the opportunity to return to Jinan.
In August 1981, Wu Faxian was released from prison and reunited with his wife. He has been living peacefully in Jinan City. On October 17, 2004, Wu Faxian died of illness at the age of 89.
In the period of ideological confusion, many older generation revolutionaries, like Huang Kecheng, were faced with incidents of being framed. They were practical, upright, and peaceful, and demonstrated personal ethics and principles of conduct that were beyond ordinary people.
Wu Faxian's frame-up of Huang Kecheng certainly had dark thoughts and purposes.
But in Huang Kecheng's view, it was just a discord in the times. The generous Huang Kecheng never took it to heart, let alone retaliate against Wu Faxian.
Throughout General Huang Kecheng's life, he always adhered to the truth and respected facts. In the flames of war and in revolutionary life, he was not afraid of new things and did not blindly follow new things. He did not agree or give in to erroneous criticism. He adhered to the original intention of the revolution and maintained his integrity. He was a typical example among strivers and revolutionaries.
