In the spring of 1953, at a farmer's home in Zhulou Village, Zhenwu Town, Jiangsu Province, Zhu Wenyu looked at the letter in his hand with mixed feelings.

The author of the letter is his adopted son Zhu Hongxing, who is also Liu Yunruo, the second son of Liu Shaoqi.

After hearing that his adoptive mother passed away, Liu Yunruo wrote a special letter, sending the funeral expenses of his adoptive mother and adding the following message: "Father, the country is under construction and my father is on a salary system. I discussed with my father and came up with 600,000 yuan (old currency). As a mother's funeral expenses..."

After many years, Liu Yunruo still couldn't forget the kindness of Zhu Wenyu's family in raising him. So how did he get to the Zhu family and how did he return to Liu Shaoqi?

Blood was spilled on the rainflower terrace, and the flesh and blood were separated.

On March 31, 1933, Wang Fenfang, who was walking on the street, found that there seemed to be "several more pairs of eyes" behind her. When she realized that she was being followed, she began to wander in the streets and alleys, trying to get rid of the suspicious people behind her.

Who is Wang Fenfang and why is she being followed?

Wang Fenfang is actually He Baozhen. In the winter of 1932, Liu Shaoqi received an order to work in the Soviet area of Jiangxi and Gannan. His wife He Baozhen decided to stay in Shanghai with Maomao, who was under 2 years old, to continue working.

After Liu Shaoqi left, He Baozhen served as the vice president and rescue minister of the National Mutual Aid Association. In order to facilitate her work, she adopted the pseudonym Wang Fenfang and claimed to be a primary school teacher.

Taking advantage of her identity as a teacher, He Baozhen ran around and actively sought all forces to rescue the arrested comrades. Her active activities aroused the suspicion of the Kuomintang Gendarmerie.

After nearly a month of observation, the Kuomintang gendarmerie determined He Baozhen’s identity, so on March 31, the gendarmerie decided to arrest He Baozhen.

Here, He Baozhen, who had gone around and around and finally got rid of her "eyes" temporarily, returned to her residence. She hurriedly destroyed the important documents and was planning to run away with Maomao. Only then did she realize that it was too late. The enemies had already surrounded the downstairs. She knew that it was inevitable to escape, but the child was still young and could not suffer with her.

So in desperation, she entrusted "Maomao" to the landlady Yao Qingling, and said: "Someone will come to pick up the child soon. Please help me take care of the child for a few days, please."

A few months passed by, and Yao Qingling did not wait for the person to pick up the child, but she waited for her stepson Zhu Wenyu.

Zhu Wenyu is a farmer from Zhulou Village, Zhenwu Town, Jiangsu Province. Taking advantage of the summer when farm work is not busy, he came to Shanghai to visit his stepmother Yao Qingling.

In the past, when he came to visit his stepmother, Yao Qingling was always alone. This time, there was an inexplicable addition of a child to the family, which puzzled Zhu Wenyu.

Seeing Zhu Wenyu, Yao Qingling seemed to have thought of something, and asked him if he wanted to adopt the child. Zhu Wenyu was overjoyed by her stepmother's words.

It turns out that Zhu Wenyu has been married for many years but has never had a child. The couple, who love children very much, adopted a little girl a few years ago. Now if they adopt a little boy, they will have both children.

So without any hesitation, Zhu Wenyu agreed immediately, but what he didn't know was that his stepmother was an underground worker, and the child he adopted named Maomao was the son of Liu Shaoqi, an important leader of the country.

On the other side, the arrested He Baozhen would rather die than surrender. Even though she was tortured, she insisted that she was a teacher and resolutely refused to reveal any information about the party organization. Therefore, based on the principle of "I would rather kill a thousand by mistake than let go of ten thousand", the enemy sentenced her to 15 years in prison. However, in April of the next year, everything changed.

A female comrade in the Mutual Aid Society could not bear the torture and confessed that He Baozhen was Liu Shaoqi's wife. After the enemy was overjoyed, they tried to dig out the secrets of the CCP organization from her. However, whether it was to induce a confession or to force him to interrogate, He Baozhen remained tight-lipped. She said: "I am Liu Shaoqi's wife and I am responsible for taking care of his life. I don't know anything else. What can you ask from me?" Seeing that she refused to open her mouth, the enemy finally couldn't hold back after waiting for a long time. In October 1934, He Baozhen died heroically at Yuhuatai in Nanjing.

Fortunately, Maomao, whom she carefully protected, was already thriving in a safe place.

After dark and bright flowers, father and son finally met

Zhu Wenyu. After the visit to relatives, he happily took Maomao home.

Zhu Wenyu's family is an out-and-out farmer. The family only rents three acres of farmland from the landlord. The family's life can be said to be very poor. Fortunately, Zhu Wenyu is also good at playing cotton. During slack times, he would help others work to supplement the family income.

When Maomao first arrived at the Zhu family, she was thin and small because of poor care before, and she also had sores on her body. Zhu Wenyu and his wife were extremely distressed. They treated diseases and supplemented nutrition. It didn't take long for the skinny Maomao to grow into a fat boy.

Zhu Wenyu named Maomao "Zhu Hongxing", and asked both siblings to have the word "Hong" in their names, hoping that they would have a prosperous life and a bright future in the future. Her sister Zhu Honglou was not dissatisfied with this younger brother who "dropped from the sky" because her parents loved them both very much, so she was also willing to help the Zhu family's parents take care of their younger brother.

Even though they lived in poverty, Zhu Wenyu and his wife never treated their siblings harshly. There was not enough white flour at home, so the couple cooked some porridge and steamed some potatoes to satisfy themselves, while the children could eat white flour and rice. In order to supplement their children's nutrition, they also raised several chickens at home and left the eggs to the siblings. Under the care of the Zhu family, Zhu Hongxing grew up to be healthy and healthy until he was 6 years old, and his sister Zhu Honglou also grew up to 13 years old.

When they reached school age, even though her family was not wealthy, Zhu Wenyu gritted her teeth and sent her sister and brother to a private school. Zhu Hongxing is very smart, but she is too young and cannot keep up with some of her studies, so her sister patiently tutors her. After school, Zhu Hongxing would help his sister with housework, and sometimes would carry a manure basket outside to pick up manure to make fertilizer for the family.

thought that life would continue to be so ordinary, but the visit of a person broke the peaceful life of the Zhu family.

One day in 1946, a stranger walked into the door of the Zhu family. The stranger claimed to be a staff member of the Tantao Township Democratic Government. Entrusted by the organization, he came to look for Liu Yunruo, Liu Shaoqi's son. Only then did Zhu Wenyu and his wife know that the son they adopted was actually Liu Shaoqi's son.

At that time, Zhu Hongxing had been sent to Shanghai to learn how to make leather shoes. Zhu Wenyu and his wife were reluctant to return their son, whom they had known day and night for more than ten years, to Liu Shaoqi. No matter what, they were unwilling to reveal the exact whereabouts of Zhu Hongxing.

Local cadres understand the thoughts of Zhu Wenyu and his wife, but letting the child return to his biological father is a better choice for both the father and the child. After several mobilization efforts, Zhu Wenyu and his wife thought about it again and again, and finally decided to let Zhu Hongxing return to Liu Shaoqi.

After making up their minds, Zhu Wenyu and his wife went straight to Shanghai. After meeting up with the comrades from the central delegation, the three of them found Zhu Hongxing selling newspapers on the street.

When he first saw his parents, Zhu Hongxing couldn't help but be happy. But soon, he discovered the strangers around his parents and the uncontrollable sadness on their parents' faces.

After Zhu Wenyu and his wife gave a detailed explanation, Zhu Hongxing finally understood his life experience. It was difficult for Zhu Hongxing to accept his parents' remarks at first, but everyone's serious looks convinced him that he was indeed adopted, and that his biological father was looking for him everywhere. No matter how reluctant we are, it is time to separate. Before leaving, the family of three took a group photo at the Tilanqiao Wanxiang Photo Studio, and then Zhu Wenyu and his wife boarded the return train step by step.

At the same time, Liu Shaoqi, who was in Yan'an, heard that his son had been found. He was so excited that he couldn't close his mouth from ear to ear and eager to meet Maomao from the past. But what he never expected was that as soon as they met, his son poured cold water on him.

Under the arrangement of the party organization, Maomao successfully arrived in Yan'an, and Zhou Enlai led him to meet with Liu Shaoqi.

When he saw Liu Shaoqi, Maomao called out "嗲嗲", which made Liu Shaoqi extremely excited. He explained excitedly to others: "Yes, that's right, I've been to Jiangdu , and the local dialect there calls daddy '嗲嗲', that's right."

But unlike Liu Shaoqi's excitement, Maomao looked very calm, and even had a little unhappy look on his face.

After sending Zhou Enlai away, Liu Shaoqi entered the door and saw Maomao, who was looking at the indoor environment with his legs crossed.

"They say you are a high-ranking official of the Communist Party, but living in a hole like this is not as good as my house?" Maomao said with a look of disgust.

Liu Shaoqi did not argue with him, but instead asked: "What do you do?"

Maomao answered perfunctorily: "When the farming is busy, I help the landlord farm, and when the farming is slack, I play cotton everywhere." This made Liu Shaoqi realize that the sentence "discipline well" left by Zhou Enlai just now may not be that simple. Looking at his disobedient son, Liu Shaoqi felt deeply that the task of education was far-reaching. He wanted to educate his children well, but he didn't know if it was too late.

His worries turned out to be a reality in the future. Many years later, Maomao was studying abroad and often had conflicts with his classmates due to personality issues. For this reason, Liu Shaoqi wrote several letters to persuade him, which led the rebellious Maomao to the right path.

After painstaking efforts, he learned to serve the motherland

"He and I don't have a very good relationship. He doesn't listen to my words, and he doesn't tell me his true thoughts." This is what Liu Shaoqi said when he evaluated the relationship between Maomao and himself. In his opinion, there is a big gap between his son and himself, which is also vividly reflected in the letters he exchanges with his son.

In 1954, Maomao, who had changed his name to Liu Yunruo, graduated from Beijing No. 4 Middle School and was selected by the country to study abroad at the Moscow Aviation Institute of the Soviet Union to study aircraft radio instrumentation.

When leaving, Liu Shao, who knew his son's personality well, strangely told him: "From now on, you will stay away from your motherland and relatives. When you go to school, you must be strict with yourself. Don't be proud, don't look down on others, and more importantly, respect the fruits of everyone's labor."

At first, everything was fine. Liu Yunruo did what his father had asked him to do. He was strict with himself, studied hard, and his exam score was 5 points.

But gradually, his strong and unyielding personality began to emerge. Whenever he had friction with his classmates, he always quarreled with them and was unwilling to ease the relationship with everyone afterwards. Gradually, the unsatisfactory life made him lose interest in learning, and his grades gradually declined.

His Soviet roommate in the same dormitory invited a group of friends to the dormitory to drink and gamble. The sudden noise made Liu Yunruo unable to have a good rest. Unable to bear it, he rushed out of the room and started arguing with his Soviet classmates. Afterwards, the Youth League organization responsible for handling international student affairs criticized Liu Yunruo in order to maintain Sino-Soviet relations when handling this conflict.

The unsatisfactory life was enough to worry Liu Yunruo. Seeing that the league organization was not on his side, Liu Yunruo came up with the idea of repeating a grade or changing his major. The comrades in the International Student Affairs Office felt that his idea was immature and there was no need to go into trouble over such a trivial matter, so they rejected his request.

In order to successfully change his major, Liu Yunruo wrote several letters to Liu Shaoqi, hoping to get his father's support. In the letter, he described in detail the difficulties he was currently experiencing in life, claiming that due to the unsatisfactory life, he was struggling to study and his academic performance had plummeted. If he continued, he might eventually have physical problems. He hoped that his father could help him...

Liu Shaoqi was very surprised when he received the letter from his son. Because when he was in China, he was familiar with his son's competitive personality and had beaten him many times. Unexpectedly, after leaving the country, his son's problems would relapse. So in his first reply letter to his son on May 6, 1956, he pointed out Liu Yunruo's problems to the point.

"In the past, you had bad relationships with other people, and the main problems and shortcomings were you. When you were in middle school, I told you not to be afraid of suffering losses, and don't look down on others. Every time you had a conflict with your classmates, I pointed out these two points. But now it seems that not only have you not gotten rid of your bad habits, but you have even With development. You need to learn to be modest and unite with your classmates, listen to the criticism of comrades, and don’t always think that you are right and others are wrong, and don’t think that others are sorry for you..."

After finishing Liu Yunruo's personal problems, Liu Shaoqi made a step-by-step analysis of his thoughts on changing departments or repeating a grade. He advised his son: "No matter what you want to do in the future, I advise you to learn a major. If you can learn a professional knowledge well, it will be beneficial to whatever job you do in the future. If you have a valid reason, you can apply to the organization, but the reason of 'can't get along with others' will not work."

At the same time, in order to reduce his son's learning pressure, Liu Shaoqi said: "It doesn't matter if the score is not 5 points, but 3 or 4 points. The purpose of learning is not for the score, but to apply what you have learned..."

Liu Shaoqi's long letter did have a persuasive effect for a certain period of time. But not long after, Liu Yunruo encountered some dissatisfaction in study and life. This time, he came up with the idea of switching to another department.

At the beginning of 1956, Liu Yunruo wrote another letter to Liu Shaoqi, stating that he was not interested in his current major and wanted to change his major, and asked his father for permission. After reading the letter, Liu Shaoqi felt that not only had his son's wrong ideas not improved, but they had even worsened. So on January 22, Liu Shaoqi took the time to write a 2,000-word long letter to his son.

This time, he changed from his usual persuasion and severely criticized his son's capricious attitude, knowing full well that his son would not be able to listen to his persuasion.

So on the same day, Liu Shaoqi wrote a letter to Liu Ying, who was in charge of international students, stating: "Please ask the party organization of the embassy to deal with Liu Yunruo's problem." "If he cannot transfer, or there is no need to transfer again, and he cannot learn his current major, you can consider letting him drop out of school and return to his country."

After learning of Liu Shaoqi's attitude, the embassy staff made a detailed analysis and understanding of Liu Yunruo's problem. After consultation, it was finally decided to let him transfer to the missile design major to continue his studies. After this incident, Liu Yunruo finally realized the good intentions of his father and party organization staff, gradually restrained his unwillingness to admit defeat, and gradually integrated into his new studies and life.

In 1960, Liu Yunruo returned to China after completing his studies and began to conduct missile research and development work in a subordinate department of the Seventh Machinery Department. Later, he took the initiative to ask for help and asked to be transferred to the grassroots level for training. In the years since, he has made important contributions to the country's missile industry.

Conclusion

From Zhu Hongxing to Liu Yunruo; from newspaper seller to missile expert, the transformation that happened to Liu Yunruo was due to both the trick of fate and the tireless teachings of Liu Shaoqi.

Liu Yunruo, who lives in the Zhu family, is relaxed and happy, but Liu Yunruo, who returns to Liu Shaoqi, has made a difference. The parents love their son, and they have far-reaching plans. The letting go of the Zhu family's parents is certainly touching, but Liu Shaoqi's education of their children is even more admirable. If you love your son, you should educate your child well and plan a long-term future for him.
