beats from Mengchangjun was removed from the rank of , Qi and the king of and Chu and Wei destroyed Song , making them even more arrogant. He wanted to annex the nations and become the emperor himself. As a result, the princes of various countries were not satisfied with him; especially the , which was north of Qi, was bullied by Qi, and wanted to find an opportunity to take revenge.
Yan State was originally a big country. Later it was passed on to King Kuai of Yan . He believed the bad guy's idea and learned the legendary method of Yao and Shun giving up the throne to the Prime Minister Zizhi. The general of Yan State and the prince of Yan State attacked the son and the chaos broke out in Yan State. Qi State invaded Yan State in the name of quelling the civil turmoil in Yan, and Yan State was almost destroyed. Later, the military and civilians of Yan made Prince Ping the king, rose up to resist, and drove the Qi army out.
The prince ascended the throne, which is King Zhao of Yan . He was determined to make Yan State stronger and determined to find talents to govern the country, but he could not find a suitable person. Someone reminded him that the old minister Guo Wei (pronunciation wěi) is quite knowledgeable, so why not go to him to discuss it.
King Zhao of Yan personally visited Guo Wei and said to Guo Wei: "Qi State takes advantage of the civil strife of our country to invade us. I cannot forget this shame. But Yan State is weak now and cannot avenge this. If there is a wise man to help me avenge me, I would rather serve him. Can you recommend such talents?"
Guo Wei touched his beard, pondered for a moment and said, "I can't even recommend ready-made talents. Please allow me to tell a story first." Then, he told a story:
In ancient times, there was a king who loved the most of the horse. He sent people to search everywhere, but he couldn't find it after searching for three years. A servant found out that there was a precious thousand-mile horse somewhere in the distance, and told the king that as long as he gave him one thousand taels of gold, he would definitely be able to buy the thousand-mile horse back. The king was very happy, so he sent his servants to buy a thousand taels of gold. Unexpectedly, when the servant arrived, Qianlima had already died of illness. The servant thought that it was difficult to explain when he went back with his empty hands, so he took out half of the gold he brought and bought the horse bones back.
The servant presented the horse bones to the king. The king was furious and said, "I want you to buy a live horse. Who told you to spend money to buy a useless horse bone?" The servant said calmly: "I heard that you are willing to spend money to buy a dead horse, but are you afraid that no one will send the live horses?"
The emperor was skeptical and no longer blamed the servant. As soon as the news spread, everyone thought that the king really loved the horse. Within a year, several thousand-mile horses were indeed sent from all directions.
After hearing this story, Guo Wei said, "The king must seek talents, so you might as well try it."
King Zhao of Yan was inspired by it. After returning, he immediately sent someone to build a very exquisite house for Guo Wei to live in, and also worship Guo Wei as his teacher. When talented people from all countries heard that King Zhao of Yan sincerely recruited talents, they rushed to Yan State to ask for a meeting. The most famous of them is the Zhao people Leyi . King Zhao of Yan appointed Le Yi as Yaqing and asked him to rectify the national affairs and train troops. The Yan Kingdom became stronger day by day.
At this time, King Zhao of Yan saw that King Min of Qi was arrogant and unpopular, so he said to Le Yi: "Now King Qi is unruly, and it is the time for us to avenge our shame. I plan to mobilize the whole country to fight Qi. What do you think?"
Le Yi said: "Qi is vast and has a large population. It is probably not possible to rely on our country to fight. If the king wants to attack Qi, he must unite with other countries."
King King Zhao of Yan sent Le Yi to Zhao State and connected with Zhao Huiwen State , and sent someone to contact Han and Wei, and asked Zhao State to contact Qin State . These countries do not stand the domineering of Qi and are willing to send troops with Yan.
In 284 BC, King Zhao of Yan appointed Le Yi as general, commanded the troops of the five countries, and rushed to Qi in a mighty manner.
When King of Qi heard that the coalition forces of the five countries were fighting, he was also panicked and concentrated the troops across the country to resist the coalition forces and fought a battle west of the Ji River.Because Le Yi was good at commanding, the morale of the five countries was strong, and the Qi army was defeated. King Min of Qi fled back to Linzi.
The soldiers of Zhao, Han, Qin and Wei won the battle and each occupied several cities of Qi, and did not want to continue fighting. Only Le Yi refused to give up. He personally led the Yan army and marched straight in, conquering Qi's capital. King Min of Qi had to run away and was eventually killed in Jucheng.
King Zhao of Yan believed that Le Yi had made great contributions, so he personally went to the Jishui River to work hard, rewarded Le Yi and named the king of Chang.

Literary Appreciation
"King Zhao of Yan" is a poem that uses the past to satirize the present. It has deep feelings, simple words and strong touching power. At that time, the author lived in the neighboring land, climbed to the top of Jieshi Mountain, looked into the distance, touched the scenery and felt emotions, caring about the past, and lyricizing the past. This poem expresses the painful mood of not being able to appreciate talent and having no way to serve the country, and reflects the author's positive and strong enterprising spirit.
"Climb the south of Jieshi Pavilion, looking at the golden platform from afar". The beginning of the poem, first points out the place where you pay tribute to the top of Jieshi Mountain and the golden platform of things you pay tribute to, which triggers feelings of expressing feelings, concentrates on King Zhao of Yan's desire for talented people, and also writes about the poet's hope for a wise king, laying the foundation for the last four sentences. The poet wrote two ancient sites, which concentratedly showed the demeanor of King Zhao of Yan who was eager to seek talented people and respected the virtuous and inferior people. From the two actions of "climbing" and "watching", we can see the poet's yearning for the ancients. This is not just about reminiscing about the past. The poet strongly admires the ancients because he deeply feels the ups and downs of the present world, and there is a deep self-satisfaction.
2nd sentence: "The hills are full of trees, where is King Zhao?" The next two sentences closely inherit the poetry, and use deep emotions and desolate styles to describe the vast and desolate scenery in front of you. The scenery contrasts the emotions and expresses the sigh of "The King Zhao is still there", expressing the deep affection for King Zhao of Yan, and expressing the sigh of vicissitudes of the world. The poet uses the past to satirize the present. His nostalgia for the ancient sage kings reflects his criticism of the real kings, which means that the real society lacks a wise and wise monarch who is eager to seek talents like King Zhao of Yan. On the surface, it is full of real scene descriptions, but it reflects the poet's dissatisfaction with reality. Why did Le Yi serve Wei without seeing any extraordinary achievements, but he made earth-shaking achievements in Yan State? The reason is very simple, because King Zhao of Yan knows people and takes good care of them. Therefore, these two sentences clearly say that "King Zhao" is not seen, which is actually the poet's complaints about Le Yi's self-comparedness, and it is also the feeling that he was born at the wrong time and that the hero has no place to use his skills. Although the work was published by Wu Youyi's "no general's slightness", the poem puts it in a disdainful position, which further demonstrates the poet's heroic spirit.
finally ends with a silence of the past and the present: "The world is now gone, and the horse is driven back." The ending two sentences are finished with the finishing touch and graceful mood. On the surface, they describe the invisible King Zhao, the world is not able to be found, and the ambitions of the country's scholars cannot be realized, so they have to return it with their crowns. In fact, it is the poet who expresses his sigh of no way to serve the country. The year before the poet wrote this poem, the Khitan captured Yingzhou and threatened the counties of Tanzhou. However, the generals sent by the imperial court to fight were so stupid, which made people deeply worried about the fate of the country. Therefore, the poet had to lament that the "dominant map" was difficult to regain, and the state affairs were getting worse. At the same time, in the face of the crisis, the poet's strategy of maintaining peace and stability was not used, but was suppressed by Wu Youyi, which made people feel that the future was boundless. The word "already" is deeply moved. This "returning horses" is an overview of the ancient return to the camp, but in fact it also implies the meaning of retreat. In the first year of Divine Merit (697), the Tang Dynasty ended the war against the Khitan, and shortly after that, the poet was discharged from office and returned home.
This ancient poem is covered with no algae decorative words, which is quite rich in the hero being suppressed, and it makes people sigh when reading it. Du Fu said: "The country's great articles, Zi'ang began to be tall." Hu Yinglin "Poetry Site " said: "In the early Tang Dynasty, Chen Zi'ang inherited the Liang and Sui Dynasty, and Chen Zi'ang opened the source of ancient and elegant." This kind of poems by Chen Zi'ang have the merit of "exclusive ancient and elegant" and have the special status of "beginning high".
