At the end of 1976, Deng Xiaoping was facing his last "re-making comeback" in his life. Hua Guofeng emphasized that "there is a natural result" and in order to avoid turning too fast, it is necessary to make a comeback.

Deng Xiaoping is talked about because of his experience of "three falls and three rises", and his personal experience is often closely linked to historical turning points at a higher level, adding to the legendary meaning in it.

At the end of 1976, Deng Xiaoping was facing the last "re-making comeback" in his life. Hua Guofeng emphasized that "the melon is ripe and the stems fall naturally." In order to avoid turning too fast, it is necessary to have a process.

Three falls and three rises, and perseverance

Regarding his life, Deng Xiaoping once said a humorous saying: If he wants to select the Olympic Award from those who make a comeback in politics, he feels he is very qualified to compete for the gold medal. Although the

is said with ease and joy, there are hardships and twists and turns that are not worthy of being told by outsiders.

Deng Xiaoping experienced at least three major setbacks in his life. Each time he was dormant in the lowest state for a long time before finally gaining the possibility of rising again.

The first major setback occurred in the Central Soviet Area in the 1930s. Deng Xiaoping was labeled as the leader of the small group "Deng, Mao, Xie, Gu" because of the correct line of Chairman Mao and resisting the "left" mistake. He was then dismissed and repeatedly interrogated. Even his wife Jin Weiying at the time sent a divorce report.

Because he refused to review his "wrong" he was punished with the last serious warning within the party and was sent to the remote Nancun, Le'an County to be an inspector.

When the situation is most difficult, not only do you have to go to the ground to open up land every day, but you can’t even guarantee the basic meal requirements. It’s all thanks to Tang Yizhen , Cai Chang and others to help him hide some food, so that you can get through the crisis.

Later, when filming the documentary "Deng Xiaoping", the crew also contacted an eyewitness Wei Xiuying .

at that time the old man was 84 years old, but when it came to Deng Xiaoping being forced by hunger and having to find food everywhere, the old man was still impressed.

The second major setback occurred in the mid-1960s.

Deng Xiaoping, who was serving as the General Secretary and leading the Secretariat of the Central Committee at that time, was dismissed to Jiangxi Province, along with his wife Zhuo Lin and stepmother Xia Bogen, and was actually arranged to work in Xinjian County Tractor Repair Factory.

Regarding this period of working years, Deng Xiaoping later said that working as an fitter in the factory was not difficult for him, because since he went to France to work and study as early as 16 years old, he had worked in Renault Automobile and learned a lot of factory skills. Now he is just returning to his old business.

At the same time, Zhuo Lin, together with other female workers, is responsible for repairing motor wires, that is, dismantling the winding coils in the electrician team.

Although they themselves say that labor cannot defeat people, in fact, time and time will not deceive people, and neither physical strength nor energy can be compared with when they were young.

They also have more or less cardiovascular and gastrointestinal diseases.

What made the staff even more worried was that Deng Xiaoping needed to take sleeping pills at that time.

The management secretary in charge of the "open protection and secret supervision" task Huang Wenhua is very worried about this, afraid that if he is "can't think it out", he will personally deliver the medicine every day, and only once the dose is given. Three years passed by such days, and it was not until Chairman Mao mentioned "Liu Deng" again at the memorial service of Marshal Chen Yi and specially classified Deng Xiaoping's issue as "contradiction among the people" that he got the opportunity to make a comeback.

The last major setback occurred after Premier Zhou’s death, and Deng Xiaoping took the initiative to propose “relieve the responsibility of presiding over the daily work of the Central Committee.”

is replaced by an ordinary person, any of these setbacks is enough to cause a severe blow.

However, Deng Xiaoping not only withstood three setbacks, but also was able to rise again three times, which was somewhat incredible.

Some anecdotes have also been circulated among the people, saying that there is a mountain in Guang'an, Sichuan, whose hometown is Deng Xiaoping, which is shaped like a pen holder and has three peaks. The mountainous landscape of this mountain destined that Deng Xiaoping's life will definitely have a "three falls and three rises". Of course, the statements such as

Feng Shui are not enough. The real decisive reason lies in his own hard work.

At the same time, Chairman Mao, Premier Zhou and others also had a high evaluation of him and protected him with practical actions.

Chairman Mao’s high evaluation of him

Deng Xiaoping’s daughter Deng Rong once stated in "My Father Deng Xiaoping" that it was indeed Chairman Mao’s decision to “destroy Deng Xiaoping”, but at the same time, he has always characterized the latter’s problems as “internal contradictions”. Not only did he leave room for handling efforts, but he even took practical and effective measures to protect the latter’s personal safety.

The most iconic thing is Deng Xiaoping’s party membership.

Even though it is considered to have "made a mistake" and even needs to be deported to other provinces to deport labor, Deng Xiaoping's party membership has always been retained.

For Deng Xiaoping, Chairman Mao once said: "Criticism must be criticized, but it should not be beaten to death with one stick."

This mentality is largely due to Chairman Mao's appreciation of Deng Xiaoping's talents, and on some major issues of principle, he actually has a very deep trust in him.

On the eve of the Eighth , in order to elect Deng Xiaoping in charge of the Central Secretariat, Chairman Mao once commented on Deng Xiaoping as "relatively thoughtful, fair, and kind-hearted, making people less afraid."

On the journey of joint struggle for many years, Deng Xiaoping was once defeated as the leader of the "Maoist" and helped Liu Bocheng to make military achievements. In the face of the "Laozi Party" of the Soviet Union Khrushchev and others, he was able to adhere to principles and would not surrender to the Soviet revisionist.

Commemorating the 940th anniversary of the October Revolution in and when Chairman Mao visited the Soviet Union for the second time, he also commented on his colleagues and comrades in conversation with Khrushchev. Among them, 's comment to Deng Xiaoping was "both principled and flexible, soft and hard, and a needle hidden in cotton."

This is a very good review.

Contributions during the War and Construction period

As we all know, Liu and Deng led the Central Plains Field Army to leap into Thousand Miles Dabie Mountains , this event was regarded as the prelude to the official opening of the War of Liberation.

Deng Xiaoping recalled the difficult situation at that time. Faced with the key offensive strategy of Chiang Kai-shek, a telegram from northern Shaanxi wrote that it was "very difficult".

After receiving this telegram, Liu Deng immediately replied without saying a word. After half a month, he jumped into the enemy's rear and went straight out of the Dabie Mountains.

In fact, less than ten days after replying to this telegram, the troops began to act.

Going to Dabie Mountains means facing all kinds of difficulties that are inevitable in combat without a rear. The significance of this action

is not how much land it occupied or how many troops it destroyed, but that they took on the most difficult burden in the local area at that time.

It was precisely because of Liu and Deng’s leaping forward thousands of miles and successfully gaining a foothold in the Dabie Mountains that our army was able to safely overcome the most difficult and dangerous stalemate stage and ushered in a huge counterattack in the three major battles.

html Li Yinqiao , who has served as Chairman Mao for more than 0 years, also recalled the scene when Liu Deng came to Xibaipo and reported the situation on the battlefield to the Chairman.

Deng Xiaoping said that Huaihai Battle is like "a walnut in his mouth". Liu Bocheng first added, "It can't be bitten, and it can't be swallowed." Finally, he made a powerful gesture - "It can't be bitten in the end!"

As they firmly believe, the victory balance of the War of Liberation did gradually tilt towards us.

After the founding of New China, Deng Xiaoping first took charge of the Southwest, and then undertook the daily work of the Central Committee. He also went to the Soviet Union as a delegation to have face-to-face exchanges and confrontations with Khrushchev and others.

During the Moscow conference, even an informal banquet was often inaccessible to disputes and verbal disputes between the two sides.

For example, Khrushchev would make a request at the dining table, requiring both sides to stop attacking each other in newspapers.

, while Deng Xiaoping pointed out in a tit-for-tat way that we have already put forward the suggestion of stopping the debate, which is because the Soviet side does not attach importance to it, and has not stopped attacking so far; although we do not attack, we also need to express our attitude at the appropriate time, and we must always give a reply if we reply.

This round of fight left Khrushchev with the impression that "this little man is keen, but not easy to deal with."

However, Chairman Mao was very satisfied with Deng Xiaoping's attitude towards tit-for-tat struggle. This not only represents the status and interests of a country and a party, but also proves that Deng Xiaoping was standing opposite to the Soviet revisionist.

Since you can fight it face to face, you will naturally not do Khrushchev's trick in China.

He once told Deng Xiaoping that Khrushchev was afraid of your stick.

This is because Deng Xiaoping had not recovered from his leg fracture at that time, and he needed to walk with the help of a cane when attending the meeting in the Soviet Union.

Chairman Mao has a good memory and cannot remember walnuts, sticks and more details.

The accumulation of these examples determines that the dissatisfaction against Deng Xiaoping mainly revolves around differences in work attitudes and working methods, rather than having too many conflicts on fundamental issues. Moreover, Deng Xiaoping also "no historical problems."

from Premier Zhou’s deep friendship

If Chairman Mao’s emphasis on Deng Xiaoping mainly comes from appreciation and trust, then the feelings from the Prime Minister are also a kind of intimacy and concern that we have been together for many years and know the roots.

Early when they embarked on the revolutionary road, the two of them had gone to France one after another.

Here, they work together to carry out Youth League and edit "Red Light" magazine together.

Usually Premier Zhou is responsible for editing and writing, while Deng Xiaoping is responsible for engraving wax paper and mimeographing.

Because the handwriting is beautiful and clear, over time I got the nickname "Doctor Mimicking".

Since 1927, the two have come to Shanghai to work one after another.

Under the cover of white horror, the two of them fought side by side in the dragon and tiger den. They not only cooperated tacitly at work, but also had a lot of intersections in life.

Deng Xiaoping married Zhang Xiyuan in Shanghai. The people responsible for organizing the wedding banquet were Premier Zhou and Deng Yingchao. The two families lived in the same building as a family, and they had been together for more than half a year.

Later, Deng Xiaoping was about to set off for Jiangxi, and Premier Zhou personally contacted the local area in Jiangxi.

In order to arrange the residence and life of Deng Xiaoping and his wife, he carefully planned and thoughtfully.

For example, at the beginning, the local people in Jiangxi planned to arrange Deng Xiaoping to Ganzhou .

Premier Zhou thought it was not appropriate because Deng Xiaoping was over 60 years old at that time and should be arranged to be near Nanchang Nanchang for easy care. In addition, houses, staff and other aspects also need to be made in thoughtful and proper arrangements.

Even though Deng Xiaoping has settled in Jiangxi properly, Premier Zhou still pays attention to it from his busy schedule.

When he had a heart disease relapsed due to overwork, he once told the health care doctor around him that he had two acquaintances in Jiangxi.

One is health nurse Zheng Shuyun, and the other is "my colleague" Deng Xiaoping.

"The two of them are Zheng and Deng, and they just happen to form two ear knives."

Until Premier Zhou was in a serious illness and bedridden, he still did not forget to praise and encourage Deng Xiaoping, saying that he had done a good job this year.

Later, at the Prime Minister's memorial service, Deng Xiaoping also delivered a eulogy on behalf of the Central Committee.

"The melon is ripe and the stems fall, and the water comes naturally."

Deng Xiaoping himself knew the care and protection from Chairman Mao and Premier Zhou.

and the way of repaying this kind of care is what he once said more than once: for the Party and the people, work diligently for a few more years.

Deng Rong wrote in "Days in Jiangxi" that Deng Xiaoping was extremely calm in those days, "not afraid of danger, and not overly happy when he was happy." In his spare time in his work and life, he spent a lot of free time on reading and thinking.

There is a small courtyard in the small building where they live. He always walks around the yard at dusk. Over time, he actually stepped on the red soil ground out of a gray and white path.

Perhaps it was in those leisurely steps and thinking day after day, year after year that his belief and will were ready to face all possible situations.

At the end of 1976, more than half a year has passed since Deng Xiaoping was removed from his post and retained his party membership for the third time.

The older generation of revolutionaries such as Ye Jianying, Chen Yun, Li Xiannian, Xu Xiangqian, Nie Rongzhen, and Wang Zhen have successively put forward suggestions in different ways, believing that Deng Xiaoping should be allowed to work as soon as possible.

Due to concerns about "turning too fast is easy to overturn", Hua Guofeng believes that this matter should not be too hasty, and should wait for the opportunity and make a comeback at the formal meeting.

This view actually conforms to the situation at that time, and there was another emergency situation on Deng Xiaoping's side - urinary retention caused by prostate hypertrophy, and he was admitted to the hospital for treatment.

After the doctor diagnosed, he found that the situation was not optimistic. Deng Xiaoping took the initiative to propose "just have surgery" to avoid trouble later.

Zhuo Lin was a little worried about the operation, so she asked Li Yantang, who was the chief surgery, if there would be any problems after the operation?

Before Li Yantang could speak, Deng Xiaoping took over the sentence: "You don't understand, don't ask. You have to believe in the hospital first. How can there be 100% absolute in the world?"

The doctor told Deng Xiaoping, who was very addicted to smoking, "You can't smoke during this period." He agreed without saying a word and strictly enforced it.

As the date gets closer and closer to the anniversary of Premier Zhou’s death, the people’s calls for Deng Xiaoping to come back to work have also become increasingly high.

At the Central Work Conference held in March of the following year, Chen Yun submitted a written speech, and Wang Zhen also spoke out bluntly. He said, "Comrade Deng Xiaoping has strong political ideas and rare talents. This is what Chairman Mao said and what Premier Zhou conveyed!"

The time when it came naturally finally approached.

On July 17, 1977, the Third Plenary Session of the 10th Central Committee unanimously passed a resolution to restore his post for Deng Xiaoping and decided to restore all his previous positions.

Deng Xiaoping himself also spoke at the meeting. While discussing the top priority in the field of thought, he also made his own statement, "As a Communist Party member, you must not have selfish thoughts, and you should honestly fulfill your responsibilities as a party member and obey the arrangements of the party."

Conclusion

Just like his previous comebacks, when he appeared in public again, he not only received warm greetings from the people on the scene, but also instantly attracted the attention and headlines of countless media.

At that time, he appeared in Beijing Workers' Sports and watched the match between the Hong Kong football team and the Chinese youth football team. The scene was also the closing ceremony of the Beijing International Football Friendly Invitational Tournament.

Some foreign media wrote that even though he had been invisible in front of the camera for a period of time, Mr. Deng's appearance did not change much, "He looks ten years younger than his actual age."

This is Deng Xiaoping’s third comeback in his life.

It is this comeback that marks his becoming the core of the second generation of the Party’s central leadership collective, and the entire China is destined to embark on a modernization road with Chinese characteristics.

And the significance of this transformation may also be seen from the famous "Hello Xiaoping" banner.
