If they are anxious, they will feel embarrassed and destroy the things and throw them into a secluded place, which means they are angry. Why do we need to make ghosts angry when we are in the sun? Empress Dowager Cixi's considerate and generous nature is rare for people!
Not only that, Empress Dowager Cixi also expressed her kindness to the palace maids around her during the Zhongyuan Festival. They are allowed to bring bags (sacrificial gifts) to their relatives and hand them over to the rituals, and then they will participate in the rituals.

There must be no clear historical records, so we might as well guess the Queen Mother’s thoughts. In Chinese history, the first empress dowager who was the dictatorship was considered Empress Lü. The Lü killed King Ruyi of Zhao and dismembered King Zhao's mother, Concubine, and was called the most cruel "human pig" in history! In the end, King Zhao's ghost killed Empress Lu again.
"Records of the Grand Historian: The Annals of Empress Dowager Lu" clearly records: In mid-March, Lu went out to participate in a ceremony to eliminate disasters and evil spirits.
